great idea to split the video with captions of what you're describing at that time bravo ! This is brilliant and I hope you'll do that again !

Another Unique feature i recently discovered in the multi mode view is ability to edit multiple images at once, as long as you click “edit selected” and use keyboard shortcuts for adjustments and not sliders (works obviously for color tagging, star rating) but if you like me associate keyboard shortcuts to exposure adjustment, etc so you can simultaneously adjust the images instead of one and copy/paste...another gem for the muli view mode i found nice for culling is the ability to fill the screen with a series (say 6 images) and the use keyboard shortcut alt+side arrows to move forward and backward with that number of images (i have a wide screen so i manage to fit 12 images at once and that speed up my culling), a last one for the road for culling you can use the loupe on the images to check focus or if images are very similar then alt+double click get you 100% zoom and all images...cheers for the good content and it looks like you had a good time in Lofoten 😊

Yes! I should have mentioned that. Basically works like the "sync" function in Lightroom, but is SO MUCH BETTER because you can turn the sync off and edit each image individually with the images side by side in the viewer.

Great information. In addition to what you mentioned in feature #4 about customizing the interface, you can create your own tool tab with any tools you want in it.

Tools on the right is also a better workflow for pen/tablet users who are right handed. it reduces all the "travel" time spent with your hand in a less than optimal ergonomic position.

Thanks for the video Todd. There were quite a few features you’ve mentioned in the two videos that I’m excited about. I just bought a licence this past week, and I’ve started using it regularly. For me it’s a bit like coming home . . . The interface / workflow ( like the multiple image view / edit, the tool layout, etc.) is like Apple’s lamented Aperture product. Only this is a more advanced, more polished version. Lightroom’s modal workflow (and others like ON1 RAW) have always frustrated me.

A tip for those of you who happen to have a second monitor on your desktop is to customize the tabs and panels to your liking on the second monitor and keep the main monitor for the actual image you’re working on. Capture One allow you to disconnect and even duplicate panels and place them anywhere you want them. You’re completely free to design your own workspace in C1. You can also keep your layers in a separate space on your screen(s), if you like. You can assign your own shortcuts to almost anything in the program too. In short, Capture One gives you a lot of extra freedom to customize your own workspace way beyond what you’re allowed to to do in Lightroom! If you then consider the superior ways Capture One handles and utilize the raw data in your images, (something that has been thoroughly testified in the photography communities throughout the internet), it seems to me that the only thing that holds us back from jumping ship is old habits, right?

Indeed. It's one of the features that has made C1 quite popular with product photographers.

Hi Todd - You are careful to mention Lightroom, but not Photoshop. Is it because Lightroom and Photoshop can be used together? I'm inclined to try Capture One if it favorably compares to Photoshop. Thanks!

I think that the refreshed look at old photos is very, very cool. I just updated my Affinity Photo and now I can start editing raw files. And I find that I have old photos that I want to go back and explore. It's quite a neat feeling. Very, very fun. I've never used Lightroom or Capture One but I like both of the names. I think those better fit what the program is. Cheers and boogie boogie, Ivy.

Hi Todd, both videos excellent. I am considering using C1 and can you recommend a good book to get me started please?
@dominey4 жыл бұрын
I haven't read any books on C1, so...not sure! What I would recommend is checking out the official Capture One KZbin Channel. They regularly post a LOT of how-to videos which are wonderful on a variety of topics.

Helpful vid, Todd. Am doing homework on C1 pre move from LR. Your personable style connects w/viewers. Don’t understand how one would take focus mask to the next step of focus stacking (open as layers in PS?). Copy/paste reminds of LR sync settings - LR also lets you fine tune what settings to copy. Nice color wheel demo. Would appreciate f/u vid about 3rd party plug-ins - especially any that enable pano and HDR image blending similar to LR. Say hi to Luna; where’s the vacuum?😁
@dominey4 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul - I'll say hi to her. :) So yes, focus stacking. The next step would be Photoshop. there isn't a way (at least at the time of this comment) to stack/blend separate images in Capture One, so you'd need to use Photoshop for that. You can edit each RAW image in Capture One, then open each image in Photoshop from within Capture One (that way your edits are applied).

I will also very highly recommend Capture One ! You can add how easy it is to make black & white in the color tool panel at the bottom where you can enable black & white ;) Remember that for Fujifilm, Nikon and Sony there are Capture One Express which are free versions ! The full versions for Fujfilm, Nikon and Sony are cheaper than the "normal" full version. I use Capture One express for Sony, it is exellent ! www.captureone.com/en/products-plans/capture-one-express www.captureone.com/en/products-plans/single-user

The thing is though, I love the simplicity of LR and love that it hasn't changed. I get why people might prefer C1 but for me I love LR because I know how it works and it's perfectly fine.

Hi Todd; im about to buy capture one 20+21 ($9.99/Mo) ; but I already pay adobe Lightroom and Photoshop ($. 9.99/Mo). Do you think Capture One substitutes both or you keep paying Adobe?? what's your opinion on that. (I Have Affinity Photo too)
@davidligon60882 жыл бұрын
Did you decide to migrate to Capture One or did you stay with Lightroom, or do you now use both? If both, what % do you edit in C1 and what % do you edit in Lightroom? Do you edit some images in Lightroom and some in C1 or do you partially edit in one and partially edit the same image in the other? Finally, how do you do file management if you use both, or how did you do migrate file management if you use Capture One?
@dominey2 жыл бұрын
Hey David - Over the past year I’ve been migrating back to Lightroom, mainly for workflow simplicity reasons. I still use C1 from time to time (tethering is great), but I don’t edit with it as much as I used to (when this video was made).

Still im very not happy that Capture One dont have plan for Canon camera... Come on
@lefthandright014 жыл бұрын
Its because canon didn't want to have a working agreement with phaseone. In order for C1 to create a specific workspace for that camera, it requires the manufacturer to share sensor/processor protocols. Canon didn't wanna share.
