I moved to Troy from Raleigh, NC last year and Metro Detroit is such a ripoff compared to the Triangle. You could get a townhouse in Raleigh for what a one bedroom apartment costs in Troy. Storage units costs about $30 a month more here and parking in downtown Detroit costs double what it did in Raleigh.

But metro Detroit is twice the size of metro Raleigh of course a larger metro area is going to be more expensive when it comes to thing like storage and parking. Troy specifically has a way higher median income than Raleigh so again that is going to equate to it being more expensive.

Could only do so much while sill trying to get hired .Ran out of money so I left ..But while people are standing around drinking out of the same liquor bottle - some of that energy could be used to clear some of those lots of garbage and and grass extra stuff .Instead of throwing more and more on top of it .Make the lots clear. When I get asked about this issue I say that the middle class left the city. Some of us stayed. I lived in a racially mixed neighborhood for 40 years. Middle class whites, hispanics and blacks living side by side. Low crime, nice homes, families. I will agree that the black community needs to do something about single parent families and somehow addressing the thug culture. Not sure what can be done in the short term.
