Honestly, I would love to go and move to Detroit. It would be a great Mecca for artists and venues and clubs. We need more creativity and edge in a time where honestly, cities have become scrubbed clean by gentrification, or any of that creativity and edge. I guess in the end it'll become gentrified as well...
@94fleetwood49
@94fleetwood49 7 жыл бұрын
Detroit is designed with major roads and highways leading into the city from all angles like a star. So gentrification doesn't have to be isolated into one small area since Detroit is so large, it's not limited like the valley in California or the islands of New York. Dimitri Hegemann has been eyeing the Packard Plant which is also under plans for Phase 1 plans of renovations this year by Fernando Palazuelo. There are so many locations to build creativity, clubs, venues that are also next to highways for instant access.

To be honest, I'm a bit scared to visit Detroit but from the history, it seems like it was (or is) a cool town. Hope to see industries other than art and fashion move back into town. Maybe I'll end up there one day. I would love to buy a house downtown and see how quickly it grows.

Im curious what industry Detroit will go to, the automotive industry can't bring Detroit back in its current state.
@sixmile2360
@sixmile2360 6 жыл бұрын
Actually. I'm not sure if that is true. We do need to diversify and we are. But think about it. The city now has fewer people than Columbus Ohio. Even if it grows by 25% in the next ten years the population would still be below 725k. Columbus Ohio would love to have three assembly plants, an engine plant and a major automotive company world headquarters inside its borders. Ford had announced that they are building a huge development campus in Cork Town. 2500 to 5000 jobs. Mihandra is building an assembly plant on the East side. When you combine the remaining mass of the automotive and automotive related capacity in the city with the burgeoning tech and finance industries the economy could sustain real growth. The blight removal and infrastructure rebuild is daunting but progress is being made. I went to a planning meeting last week. It was funny to hear urban planners talking about demand for housing outpacing availability. Who would of thunk it ten years ago?
@louurich9087
@louurich9087 4 жыл бұрын
In 2017 and 2018 we added more tech jobs than New York or L.A. ... Total. And there already had been a decent sized foothold in the region, mostly in automation. However, the Automotive industry is not as thrashed as people think. The recent contractions were getting ahead of the manufacturing recession we are currently in, and the big three are currently investing heavily in alternative energy cars. The Tesla's price will keep it from saving anything, they are thinking and investing (some say too much) in the Model T of electric cars. Whoever hits that mark first is the winner.

Marius Matei It is all relative. Comparing New York City to Detroit is apples to oranges. New York City wins every time. But to those of us who stuck it out in Detroit during the worst of times and the darkest days it is amazing what is happening now. The number of new construction projects and renovations are unbelievable. They are literally everywhere. To be clear. It is a statistical fact. There is an exodus into the Detroit Area from California and New York. The primary reasons are jobs (Tech jobs related to the shift to electric cars) and the low cost of living. Additionally, there is a cache for young people to move downtown. It is an incubator for start ups and there is a core presence of banking and mortgage companies who cater to recent college grads. My personal preference for lifestyle is Boston which is rich with museums and restaurants. But in the end it is a matter of taste. For me Detroit is home. It is that simple.
@mariusmatei2946
@mariusmatei2946 3 жыл бұрын
@@sixmile2360 ha, I see what you did there (with New York, and apples... 😁); nevertheless, all I did, was that I expressed my personal preference between New York, and Detroit, i.e. I didn't contest the merits of your initial reply (in fact, I had given it a 👍), neither do I contest the fact that there are people moving from New York to Detroit (I wouldn't, but then, again, this is my personal preference, and I can understand the argument of "what you get for/vs the cost of living")!!

Songs don't revive an economy. You realise you need productive people to purchase you album or pay for it online right? I'll suggest you start a business, it's not that hard, just come up with a business plan, sell stuff you don't need to raise capital, approach your Credit Union if you can't obtain loan from a bank and voila! You are good to go.
