Nappy thoughts. That sounds a cool idea I felt bad we didn’t find better solution than disposable. My mum used to wash our cloth ones as baby! Just don’t try them to early as little babies are so hard to get still and fit things.

Enjoy your maternity leave! So excited for you both! No sleep and breastfeeding is exhausting but you seem to be smashing it. We loved using cloth nappies but some people find mio’s aren’t absorbent enough and can then give up. Lots of most absorbent brand which have bamboo inside instead of microfibre. Bear botts is one that springs to mind as so easy to use and they do a newborn size with a buyback scheme when baby grown to change to onesize. Good luck with the journey 😊

7:55 from the way you cut the onion it looks like your knife could do with being sharpened. Sharper knives are safer, especially for cutting hard curved things like onions. There is more risk of acciental injury from a blunt knife because you have to press harder so you are more likely to slip and cut your hand instead. A sharp knife should go through the onion easily, you should not have to put effort into pressing it through.

Re pushchair. Not playing it down but just notes from experience. This sort of shape is not as stable when they climbing a bit. Also if you hang stuff off the back for shopping or under it. (Depends how much go to car vs bus) And remember to empty under it before fold it up or it will not fold or things fall on floor. So might not fold it so much. When baby is new often not as much issue just usually always have your baby bag with you and gets heavy. Wish you well and become one with your push chair and baby kit as well as baby 😅

As someone who struggles with 'hangover' feelings with out the alcohol, you might be a bit dehydrated. Especially as you started suffering cramps, and have lower fluid absorbtion due to the lack of colon. So anyone else that has these symptoms up your (non-alcoholic) fluid intake.

ALL THE BEST!!!! Be kind to yourself. Some tips: Buy a Ewan the sheep or a noise machine and a formula prep machine if you're not able to breastfeed. Don't be upset if you can't breastfeed! If you need to combi feed then do both. If you need to use formula then use Kendamil. Take time for yourself, you'll feel guilty but then you'll be thankful. Ignore the advice of 'sleep when the baby sleeps' - it's not possible haha. Oh and don't listen to any advice (including mine hahha) Good luck xx

One of my best friends was looking for a parent-facing pram for her 1.5 year old because they have a speech delay and it was recommended they could chat with her as they went somewhere. Her husband left her to it and in the end I was roped in. I don't think I've ever thought about anything as much as I thought about those pram options. Ok, I mean this in the nicest way I can, the bravissimo shopping has struck me with The Fear.

ugh, I'm not a fan of Yoyo, everyone and their mom uses it here in Paris because it's easy to fold up and take on the Metro and RER. But the last few times I've used one (don't have kids, just have a lot of friends here with kids and pretty much all have one), I felt uncomfortable steering and going over cobble stones and stuff, and my wrists started hurting after a while. If we have a baby, I'm looking at the Cybex Libelle, still folds up nicely like the Yoyo, maybe even better, but the handle bar has more options for steering (to save my wrists), and there are shocks on the front wheels.

Always nice to see another Hannah video! This is unrelated to the video but I need advice from UK people. I have been thinking about applying for the new "high potential individual" visa as a non UK resident to come to the UK and find work eventually...any pros cons recommendations? (I am a therapist btw).
@SomeoneBeginingWithI2 жыл бұрын
I am living in the uk (british citizen, always lived in England) and I had not heard of that scheme. The economic situation in the UK is not great at the moment and it's getting worse. I don't know what it's like where you are right now, so coming to the uk might still be an improvement or neutral, but just to give you an idea: the official inflation figures are 7-8%, predicted to be 10% by the end of the year. For people with low-medium incomes, inflation is more like 20%, because the prices of basic food items are going up much faster than the prices of more expensive things. For example toothpaste went up from £1 to £1.20, milk went up from £0.90 to £1.10. A lot of supermarkets are completely discontinuing their cheaper range of basic foods like pasta. So the cheep pasta you used to buy just does not exist any more, you have to buy the more expensive pasta. The minimum wage in the UK is not enough to live on. Many families are having to choose whether to eat or whether to have heating in their house. There is a benefit system that pays some money to people on low incomes, people who do not have jobs, and disabled people. It does not pay enough. People are being left to slowly starve to death. I don't know about that specific immigration scheme, but as a newly arrived immigrant, you would probably not be able to claim any benefits. Housing is very expensive. Housing in London is even more expensive. If you do not have a very good reason to be in London, it is probably better to not live in London. Demand for therapists is high, because basically everyone was traumatised by the pandemic. About half of all young people had anxiety and/or depression even before the pandemic. The NHS does employ some therapists, but most people who need therapy cannot get it on the NHS. The NHS likes to send people to CBT. If you are a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist working in the NHS, you will be referred a lot of patients who would benefit more from trauma therapy, or less structured therapy, but are seeing you because this is all they are allowed to have. You may be referred patients who have chronic pain. People who can afford to pay privately to see therapists will do that. Your job will probably be much less depressing if you practice privately and do not work in the NHS. Psychology Today is a good place to advertise. There is quite a lot of racism, xenophobia, and islamophobia in the UK. How much of that you experience will depend on what you look like, what your accent is like. I know that this is gloomy but this is really the best information I can give you. Maybe other people who have moved to the UK recently can give you information in the immigration system and the High Potential scheme.
