When asking for help with identification, remember to ...
1. Take a close up picture of the cap
2. Take a close up picture under the cap
3. Also of the stem and the base of the mushroom.
4. Mushrooms of Utah may ask you to take a spore print, so be prepared to do that if asked

yeah, you might be right. That does look like it could be a flower bed. I can't believe that we are this late and we still are not finding morels. Pretty crazy!! I do think this next week People will start finding them and posting pictures of them.

I have been keeping my eye on the observations from iNaturalist. As of today they have been coming up in zones 5b. It will probably be another 2 weeks at the earliest here in Vermont before we see some once we get into the 70s.

Can you show a bit more of the area when showing found mushrooms? I know they are supposed to be close to water but I’m not sure how far. I’ve been trying in cache valley for a while and most of the wetland areas have flooded as well! Hoping to find my first morel this year!

Hello Britton. Yes, that is a good point. Yeah, I can do a better job of that. Cache Valley is a little bit behind Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties. My guess is by about a week. I think we will start seeing them pop up this next week (if it doesn't get to hot). So give it a week or two in Cache Valley and I bet they start popping there.

How long will oyster mushrooms keep in the fridge? Are they any good dried or frozen?

They will keep well in the refrigerator for a good week or more if you have them stored properly. They are fantastic dried. I'm not sure about frozen.

Honestly, whenever I have an opportunity. Sometimes I go in the morning. Other times I go after a real estate related appointment. I am often looking in the afternoon. It depends on when I can find time.
