if i remember right from an old chemistry teacher i had, Gatorade was made specifically as a sports drink for the florida university football team so it was obviously made to improve physical activity while other sports drinks either copied their idea, or as i see in this theory, are just marketing themselves as a sports drink but building themselves as glorified fruit juice

I remember reading a news article about a family who won the lottery and said they will spend it all on prime for their kids. Prime is just everywhere, last week when I was walking to college, one of the shops I go past was a watch shop, and they were selling bottles of prime for £10. it's gotten to the point that now the most randomness of shops are selling that diluted drink.

you joke about just putting in some salt, but as a guy who works in a kitchen, this is something i and many others actually do. Get a nice glass of room temperature water and stir in some salt and a pinch of sugar, throw a lime in for flavour.

This makes me think of how many times I hear my coworkers calling or making Gatorade or quenchers kolade. An when they make it they always try to make it sweet. If you had a energy drink, you know it’s a hint of sweet but never gos the full distance. This just proves my point that we have a sweet tooth and just want something sweet, not balanced.

JC Salazar was right in chat, V8 is a common salty drink already on the market. 650mg sodium in just a 1 cup serving, but also 520mg of potassium. Its also made by Campbell's soup company, so you can't get much brothier in drinks (unless you consider soup broth a hot drink, I suppose).

I'll be honest I've never heard of prime until recently due to Food Theory's video but I don't get why flavour is that big of a factor. It's important but it's not like poweraid or Gatorade taste like medicine and why your really hot and tired just having the drink tastes like the best thing in the world. When I used to take fitness in school of have poweraid on runs and I barely tasted it cause I guzled it down so fast. But like Pat said most ppl are just using it as a casual drink anyway I'm not sure if it's really a great competitor because I'm pretty sure the actual athletes unless sponsored are opting for the poweraids and Gatorade of the world

What ive learned from this is that NONE of these drinks are good before doing something cardio intensive like basketball or running. Looks like powders that you add into water containing a bunch of sodium like xtend and LMNT are the only useful ones.

Eating regular salt means you also consume chloride (Cl-) as it is not only sodium (Na+) due to table salt being a combination of the two molecules ( sodium chloride NaCl) So drinking sports drinks that have high sodium and lower Chloride is actually better than eating salt lol

I am so glad I never trusted prime XD Having a physically active job in a hot climate and being built for the cold tends to cause me needing sports drinks, which is why i buy gatorade powders to keep me from passing out. Also, why would anyone care about the flavor when trying to not pass out? Whatever works~
