Measure before and after. Take both numbers and divide, then you have a multiplier you can use for whenever you put your cooked meat on the scale. That will give you the correct number for what it was raw.
@arieszodiac35533 жыл бұрын

@@omartarek3706 weigh your meat raw, cook it then weigh it cooked. Example, raw 800 grams, cooked 400 grams. Equals 2 when you divide. Use 2 as your multiplier if you’re cooking in bulk that way when you pull out your cooked meat and weigh it and use your multiplier “2” to get a more accurate number .

@deanschanzenbach7506 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I’ve been noticing this since I’ve been counting my macros. It’s kind a hard to get it perfect so basically what I started doing is just counting 6 ounces of cooked meat as 8 ounces. I figured that would be pretty close.
@utrippin74865 жыл бұрын
why would the macros differ due to water loss??? The macros on the label are the literal macros that the package contains, when the water is gone there is still the same macros in it..
@utrippin74865 жыл бұрын
@@user-nz7mv2iy6d yes but it doesnt matter the macros are still in the meat, the water that goes out doesnt carry any macros. And if the label says there is 20g of protein in it, it means the entire package content including the water. Then the water goes out and the product weighs less but still has the same 20g of protein thats written on the label. Its less weight but not less net meat.
@proonify5 жыл бұрын
Cooked meat is more calorie dense because there's less water in it. Water has no calories. The calories in a piece of meat don't change when you cook it. Its weight does. So you're comparing different things here. Think about it like this: Weigh a steak. Now pour a glass of water on it. The calories are the same, but the weight is not.
@utrippin74865 жыл бұрын
@@proonify yeah thats what im tryna say. Its fuckin irrelevant how much it weighs after cooking you will still get the same macros. I mean its problematic for people who plan their nutrition based on food weight but... who the fuck does that lmao

From what I know, it doesn't matter if you measure it cooked or raw. Just stick to one method of weighing the food and adjust if you need to later on, after seeing the results and if it doesn't work for you one way, then weigh it the other way, either way it won't affect as much on your goals if you analyze and adjust if needed.

what about frozen? does it make a big difference? i usually put my frozen chicken breasts in the slow cooker so i don't get to weight it unfrozen before it's cooked.

Frozen chicken breast packages usually say “Contains up to 15% chicken broth”. I’ve been weighing it frozen before cooking & subtracting that 15%. Usually ends up having a similar calorie/protein density as raw chicken would.

You measure it uncooked. The weight of the cooked product will be less but the macros will supposedly stay the same. This is the part that confuses me because a good portion of fat usually gets cooked off. So wouldn't the calories decrease?

I disagree. But also see what you’re saying. Look, the macros on 1lb uncooked 80/20 ground beef is waaaaaay more than cooked. When I cook a pound, and scoop it out there is literally 1 full cup of fat in the pan that gets poured out. That uncooked macros isn’t accurate with that in mind.
@Andreas-gl7oo2 жыл бұрын
What do you disagree with exactly? If you're gonna throw away part of the food then obviously its not gonna be completely accurate. In that case you might as well buy lean ground beef. For the most part the nutritional data on the foods label is for raw.
@cQ2DHPavXTqemm9Vsbgi4TV7x Жыл бұрын
that's exactly why you don't pour out the fat. If you're going to pour out the fat obviously it's going to be inaccurate. In that case opt for leaner meat.

the horizontal component takes up the bulk of the calories unless you're in a surplus. I get 1-2 moderate size monster mashes in per day (depending what I'm doing), the rest of my diet is an array of other foods.

Careful with this misinformation. The package (uncooked) has x amount of protein, y amount of fat, z amount of carbs. This DOES NOT changed once cooked. It weighs less because the water has evaporated. Please count macros UNCOOKED. The weight afterwards is irrelevant. The only discounting you can do is the amount of cooked material that YOU DON"T EAT. Especially true with fatty meats where the liquid fat is not consumed. But this Bison is very lean.
