Great location, I always consider the Bay Area ocean the happy medium between SoCal and Humboldt/North Coast fishing. Y'all have the best fish of both zones. Hopefully I get to make it next year if I can make the trip down from Humboldt

Xavier will need that prize money for a new reel, that was not a reel you can put down in sand with saltwater, after 6 months the drag will be shot. I am stoked he won though. He did a great job landing that fish.

@@ronaldshum2361 if you listen during the release the 1st place winner says to the camera guy “i didn’t want to drop your rod in the sand/ocean.” so it’s the camera guy’s rod and reel, that’s why he’s saying “it’s okay,” because it is okay because it is his and he can treat it how you wants :P

Hey man, I know striper season is pretty much over here in Norcal (surf wise) but if you’re planning on hitting the surf next spring and summer, I’d recommend getting some lucky craft lures and some Battlestar lures. Those are my go to.

Sand and salt will get in. No matter how much you spend on a reel. Always wash your reels before getting and the car and with the hose when you get home. Then clean out the sand and salt and regrease

The reel was 250 the prize was 3000. It’s not ok to have your reel in the water but he later thanks his uncle after winning the tournament. He will remember this day for a while. And learn from it.

I get it, you want a tournament. But this is really rough on these fish. Considering the rest of the Bay area fisheries are going the way of the Dodo, maybe treat catch and release fisheries a bit better.

There are places in this country where out of slot fish are illegal to even land and must remain in the water. Dragging fishing up into the sand and, with the intention to film ( to make money BTW as these are KZbinrs) keeping fish out of the water for excessive periods, is not good fish handling.

@@TheD510addict yeah there are also places in this country that allows you to keep 20 stripers with 12” size limit why don’t you go there and organize an event on how to save their striped bass. Now you are obviously hating when you said them KZbinrs, clearly your intentions is not to help our fishery, you are just here to hate on what they do. If you do really care for our fisheries I challenge you to go at his tournament next year and help share your knowledge to others or maybe donate your own money for a cause.
