Mouse is formerly bedridden now, but still homebound. Her health has improved from bed to wheelchair to walker. She recently got herself a treadmill. Her financial success has enabled her to receive regular transfusions of blood plasma, which normally cost around $10-12K and is possibly the most effective treatment as I understand it. Her lungs are still very susceptible to congestion, and it can vary from day to day.

Ironmouse has come such a long way over the last 4-5 years since she's been streaming. Her singing has always been amazing, but if you watch some clips of her singing in 2020 or 2021 and compare them to now she's had to work extremely hard in order to be able to hold those extended notes consistently again and build up her stamina while singing. She's overcome so much and has been such an inspiring person to follow and cheer for.
@karactr83614 күн бұрын
Her background is not actually as a streamer, but as a performing artist. She started with dance but that proved too difficult when her condition initially appeared in her early teens. Then she switched to classical voice training for opera and her condition worsened (also, it was not diagnosed exactly WHAT her condition was at that time). It was only in her late teens that her condition was diagnosed and very little was known about it. Then she got whammied by a combination a severe respiratory infection and a worsening of her condition and barely adequate access to health care which led to her being bed-ridden in an iron-lung for a while (if I recall correctly). Her family, especially her parents, worked tirelessly to get her better care as she worked hard to recover. Once she recovered enough to sustain breathing on her own (with 24/7 respirator support which pretty much continues to this day) she was still left bed-ridden, largely cut off from direct contact with EVERYBODY except her nurse and family, speaking with a higher tone voice due to lung/throat damage and bored to tears. She started streaming in an attempt to just have some social contact with people outside of her home and chose to do that as a vtuber (a little known concept outside of Japan at the time) since she was embarrassed by both the scarring from her various experiences and the medical equipment she relied on for support. She didn't want pity. She didn't want people to feel sorry for her. She didn't want their money. She simply wanted to interact with people again. She was so set on this that pretty much the first time she asked her chat for monetary help, she said it was for office stuff (I think) when it was really for a new, better bed and pillows so she could sit more upright while she streamed. While she has always been candid about being ill, she was reluctant to share exactly HOW ill she was in the beginning. It wasn't until later that she realized streaming could support her and her family, improving their living conditions and supporting her medical care. Her improvement since then has been remarkable and note worthy. Her second appeal for money was a charity fundraising for the Immuno Deficiency Fund (IDF) and she continues to give half of her proceeds to them to this day. 😨😨Sorry. I didn't intend to go on a rant.

To add a bit because of cvid mouse ended up with a major lung condition that eventually caused her to go mute for about a year. Eventually her voice came back but was a bit higher than it used to be. She said her voice was always on the high end but she kind of lost a lot of her ability to go low. She can still sing very low and does a good Shakira impression but doing so hurts her and has caused her to cough up blood if she tries to do it too long.

I believe Ironmouse once said that her natural voice used to be a bit lower, but got its more squeaky sound due to scarring on her vocal cords and/or her lungs. I'm afraid I can't recall the details at the moment, but she went over it in her interview for the Immune Defense Foundation podcast. She's also a short person, so her voice was already a bit on the higher end. When I Look At You is her 'classic' opera voice song, but I highly recommend either her singing Glitter and be Gay from Candide, or The Ballad of Jane Doe from Ride the Cyclone, as those are full on coloratura parts. She has occasionally sung little bits of other classical coloratura soprano parts, like the Queen of the Night Aria, but has mentioned feeling self-conscious about being out-of-practice for her pronunciation in non-english opera songs, and often devolves into giggles during runs. Which is, of course, very cute, but not ideal for showcasing her phenomenal talent. She also has a properly produced opera song cover that will be coming out at some point, as one of her Subathon goals.

I will echo all the other comments here about checking out her singing in her opera voice. You can't go wrong with any of her opera songs, but "When I Look at You" is basically her signature song and never fails to impress. She was training to be an opera singer before her condition got really bad and she lost her ability to speak for awhile due to a severe lung infection that permanently changed her voice. It has taken years for her to work back to this point, but the difference between her early attempts at singing and now shows just how hard she worked to recover. Also, "And I am Telling You" is another signature song she sings that while not in her operatic voice, really shows off how incredible she is.

If you really want to see something crazy, it's her uncanny ability regarding both pitch and timing consistency. There's some video edit compilations where it makes a chorus effect by combining multiple performances of the same song. And here's the bold part: I think if she really wanted, she could pull off a one person quartet by simply singing off each part of the harmony in a row. The magic would happen when all parts are edited back together. (I don't think that achievement has been unlocked yet, but I wouldn't put it past her.)

Everyone has great suggestions because she has such a range of vocal styles and this one isn't even close to her best (like Breathe or I'm Telling You or No Me Quede Mas) but I'm gonna say go find "Ironmouse Choir sings Juanes - La Camisa Negra" to see how incredibly consistent she is. She even reacted to it herself - and was surprised at just HOW consistent she is!

It's also a testament to her endurance that she's built up from streaming so long. When she first started streaming, it was soon after a bad fight with lung infections that left her briefly unable to speak. At the time when she started, she was only able to stream for an hour or two before her voice got too tired. But she loved streaming, so she kept doing it and slowly increased her streaming time to 4,5,6,8, 11 hours. Now she regularly has double-digit-hour streams, and if she has an 8 hour stream, she calls it a short stream. Her endurance has improved her voice tremendously, and as her endurance went up, so did her singing strength, especially in her lower register. Speaking of which, I definitely second all the other comments about watching more of Mousey singing in future videos, please. Especially when she sings in her opera voice, it's unreal.

its good to start with her normal singing range.. for different sides of her singing, i would reccomend her singing Shakira and Mariah Carey.. For her operatic voice, her favourite song is probably When i Look at you.. and she have clips of her singing it over the years... and the great thing is that you can hear from the oldest video to the newest one how her health has improved over time with all the support she's gotten to afford the best care and medicine there is for her.
