Hands down, bar none - the best reaction I've ever seen/heard to one of the most amazing arrangements of this already incredible song. Her passion and considerable singing ability lend so much weight to the observations she's making. Like pretty much everyone who knows this song, I didn't need much convincing of its quality. Pentatonix's treatment elevated it that much further and watching this reaction (and I have several times 🙂 ) just hammers home for me how astounding it is. I loved the reaction after Mitch's entrance and the whole "warm, bass, powerful, *this guy!*" progression sums up a lot of their performances, for me.

You are so spot on Bob. This is a brilliant analysis with the raw glee we see in so many others who react to this piece. Nailed it. But it really does speak to the power of Pentatonix' art that someone who can so clinically hear all the technical tshings going on can also be so emotionally moved and brought to tears. I wish I knew what the real name is of The Fairy Voice Mother. She is just lovely. A delight to witness...

I will NEVER get tired of seeing vocal coach first-time reactions to Mitch and his perfect "what if a natural countertenor went all-in on a beautiful, clear chest and mix pop voice". And this track is an EXCELLENT demonstration of how they know exactly how to set him up in the arrangement to ensure a massive emotional hit, when a piece calls for it. Just.... That perfect harmony build up that dies away to leave nothing but his crystal clear straight tone at *just* the perfect point in the song's story. It gets me every time, even after years of frequently listening to this cover.

So glad you recognized and pointed out Avi's tone. He has a great range, but no matter how high he sings, you can hear that depth and "heaviness". Scott (the baritone who lead the first verse" picks up the bassline in the second verse, and hits the notes bang on, but not with the same richness. Great reaction! You've now been officially "Mitch-slapped" (Mitch is the high tenor who sang the last verse) :)

I don't know if you noticed, but it seemed the higher Mitch went in conertenor, he would be balanced in a deepening of the bass. And for the record, the bass Avi, is a classically trained operatic bass. He has a range that runs down to basso profundo, as Kirsten can reach coloratura soprano even though she is naturally a mezzo-soprano. She can go from middle alto all the way up to whistle notes and coloratura. Kevin, the beat boxer has a beautiful tenor that runs the entire tenor range and has a beautiful falsetto to boot. Scott, the tall blonde guy, is their baritone, but fills in the bass line when Avi, their regular bass, goes to lead. And then there's Mitch. Your reaction to him was expected by all of us. That is called being Mitch-slapped. It is the utter shock at how high his vocal placement is, but how clear and resonant and angelic it is, how unforced it is. And as you note Kirsten is an accomplished belter, and almost certain to go there at least once a song. Scott can do it also. So can Mitch. Just so you know, all five of them sport ranges of five to six octaves minimum. That means there is plenty of room for overlap if need be.

Gold absolutely! Done in a live take, yet they make it look so easy and relaxed...
@Badger777222 жыл бұрын
To really appreciate the PTX cover of Gold, you have to listen to at least a few seconds of the original. The original singer (Kiiara) had to use sampling and looping and autotune, and doesn't even attempt it when singing the song live - her keyboardist plays it on a synthesizer. Mitch does it naturally, and seemingly effortlessly. The intricate "round" singing the Trio does in the last part of the song makes for an interesting new take on the song, as well.

Thank you Lolli. I’m a 65 year old trumpet player and remember unexpectedly being brought to tears by the sopranos when performing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” in high school. Thank you for explaining the biological mechanics and techniques that affect me so powerfully. Most of all, thank you for sharing your joy. Please keep it up.

You reacted exactly how everybody that clicked on this video hoped somebody who knew what they were hearing would. Perfect job reacting to maybe the most perfect song and performance of it that exists

You are the best damn reactor on the youtube, you are funny as hell, and your videos are brilliantly edited to accentuate said humor. You never fail to crack me up. On top of that, your love, skill and passion shine through in the way you talk and break down the songs you watch, Lastly, there is beautiful layer of vulnerability you allow yourself to share with us that is touching and helps us connect to what you are feeling and saying even better. I can always count on an entertaining, funny, smart, analytical and heart felt reaction, and the music nerd in you will always shine though, which is great. Thanks for all the great content you provide :)

Yasssss!!! So glad you’re finding them out now! Check out their versions of “Sound of Silence”, “90s Medley”, “Daft Punk Medley”, & “Amazing Grace”. Avi (bass) left the group amicably at some point and has made a great solo career for himself. That being said, there is a different bass singer for “Sound of Silence “Amazing Grace”, named Matt (still wonderful). & they do all their own arrangements 😊 and they sound just the same live!

I like her passionate speech, "some humans do terrible things, but some do this", just a kindly reminder of how we choose to use our time in this earth have an effect to another human.

GOD loves ❤ you. You shared in their love. Tears of joy, love, awe & reverence for our creator. It moved you because it was special, ". . David played 'cause it pleased the LORD." Hint: you tried sooo hard not to loose it. . . Deep breaths, sighs, ect. . THEN YOU EDITED YOURSELF OUT WEEPING. Nooo.... leave them in. That's why we love ❤ you too. BEAUTIFUL music 🎶 moves us all. And this, is something special. BTW, your outfit is fab. ✌🙏👍🇺🇸🇩🇰🏴☠️💓

10:28 when harmonisation is so good it literally brings one to tears. 🥲
@TsterMr63 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for musing about the arrangement. A lot of reactors miss this aspect. Ben Bram, a Grammy-winning genius, provides the structure. Then Pentatonix hashes it out at rehearsal until they discover the secret sauce. It is a truly extraordinary collaboration.

Fairy Voice Mother thank you! I woke up a bit down today but your infectious exuberance is just so full of life it brightened my day! A rare quality to match your physical beauty as well! I’m old and disabled so I can get away with complimenting a woman’s beauty without insulting anyone! 🤡 So again thank you! What a beautiful reaction to a beautiful song! Working your way through tears was both precious and endearing. With the crazy tragic world roaring around us, God allows a spark of what we can be and what we will be one day and these young people take us to a transcendent moment and a yearning that resides so deep while we live here in this place that can not possibly satiate it. Having watched a few reactions all with the same response just clearly shows that when you strip away the physical we obsess over, we all have the same needs and desires and one day they will be met with perfect love and unity. Precious moments for sure! God Bless you young lady!

You're Spot on with so much you had to say about them. They truly are the Best at what they do. They have done over 200 songs, and as hard as it is to believe, they just keep getting better. You absolutely cannot go wrong with listening to any of their songs. A lot of times even their covers are an improvement. By the way, loved your reaction, and I also Love Your Voice.😊
