I honestly think that if she “fat shamed” her dancers like, yeah it’s hypocritical but the biggest thing that can’t be ignored is literal sexual harassment. I think this is where the focus should be, whatever about her hypocrisy - she is being accused of something MUCH more serious

If a male boss took female employees into a notorious red light district, nobody would give him the benefit of doubt that he wasn't aware what kind of businesses you find there and that he just wanted to buy his employees some drinks and things went out of hand. When men go into the red light district they do so because they want some kind of sexual excitement -- why would women be seeking innocent fun there?

I watched the Big Grrrls Documentary as a fan of what Lizzo stood for, but came away feeling less than impressed. Her show reminded me of Tyra Banks modeling show where people enter a contest and have to make it through questionable tasks each week. Lizzo often showed up with a big speech on body positivity, and expressed how she wanted the dancers to feel like a family, but they were auditioning for a job, not a position as her best friend. It should have been more important that they could do the job, not just hang out with her and entertain her when she wanted them to. I don't know how these girls are going to fair in the lawsuit, but after watching the documentary Lizzo came off as the popular girl that says the right things but her actions are a complete disconnect to what she says. I wasn't surprised by the lawsuit. I can understand that dancers that she fired might sue, but a dancer that quit? Also, there are other people that were in that environment that weren't dancers who acknowledge that what the dancers are saying is true. Lizzo won't be cancelled, but this is a big ding in her career. It's best that she acts like the boss, and stops expecting group outings after rehearsals and shows. Being your boss's friend is something that happens over time not because your job depends on it.

You can still sue even if you quit. For the sexual harassment, hostile work environment, false imprisonment, etc. none of that requires you to be fired. @AntaresSelket Жыл бұрын
@@Vicky-du6ni I wasn't thinking of a wrongful termination. I was trying to say that the allegations have some validity because one of the dancers that quit is also apart of the lawsuit. Let's be real: this shouldn't be a surprise. EVERYONE in this movement is either deluded, a scammer, or a predator; and even worse, it's not a single choice thing. BTW I'm kinda still waiting to hear about Virgi Tovar being a predator. I dunno why but when Michelle covered her I got that impression that she was like that pearadise guy.

When it comes to this lawsuit, I just think the level of the alleged SA is so great compared to the fat shaming that I really wish the discussion would focus on the abuse instead of that. I don't know if it happened or not, obviously, but if it did, that is criminally abusive, not just mean and hypocritical. Almost all the outrage I see is about the hypocrisy of the fat shaming. I mean, WHAT ABOUT THE S*XUAL AB*SE??? Really pisses me off. Michelle saying, "I mean, I knew celebrities were weird, but..." cracked me up. It was a bit of a palate cleanser for this whole topic.

My obese sister who was 13 years older would comment on my weight when I was a teenager, when I look at old pictures I was on the thin side of normal, I couldn't and still cannot wrap my mind around that, but it doesn't matter now as I don't care about her toxic opinions.
@Robertiena Жыл бұрын
Did you just call your 13yr old sister toxic? She was 13!!!!! A freaking child!!! So it's your parents fault she was allowed to get obese. And clearly she was insecure and would take her frustration out on you, which I know is bad and hurtful, but come on, she was not at a point where she would know better. Do you have any empathy and understanding at all? This comment makes me think you are far more toxic than your sister ever was and you just play the victim

And this is why I run away screaming from the Body Positivity Movement and people in it. I wasn't too shocked to hear about Lizzo ALLEGEDLY being trash behind the scenes because that's become standard operating procedure for celebrities/influencers but what shocked me was just how much of a sexual degenerate she really is. That would be fine if she kept things private and consensual but she didn't so it's giving James Charles and R. Kelly (without the underage people). Also, she's giving major Ellen vibes when it comes to being a terrible boss. She's giving Colleen Ballinger vibes when it comes to being a terrible boss that surrounds herself with bad people who can get away with their behavior with her blessing (Shirlene Quigley = Kory Desoto). It's just an amalgamation of terribleness. Lizzo thought she was untouchable, flew too close to the sun, and now she's getting a reality check. I really hope this isn't a false allegation situation and if it is, I'll eat crow but for now, I'll believe the victims.
@catrinacrystallina Жыл бұрын
The lack of consent around sex is what really bothers me. It’s also not the only time she’s crossed the line imho. She went on a live and talked about some erotic fantasy she has about Taylor Swift and she was incredibly detailed. She also did the same with Chris Evans even after she slid into his DM’s and mentioned he wasn’t interested. I just can’t imagine sharing thoughts like that and thinking it’s okay, especially about people who I know and see regularly in professional settings like award shows, fundraisers, and premieres.
@ptlovelight2971 Жыл бұрын
I've said this for a long time: Lizzo is....weird. And not the good kind of weird. Throughout the years, she's had a lot of questionable antics (like showing up to a basketball game with kids around and wearing a revealing outfit to "flirt " with the players) And no one called her out on it at the time bc of the BS HAES movement. She would just play the victim, saying no one would judge her if she was skinny, etc. But that doesn't excuse some of her reprehensible behavior. And she always came off as overly hypersexual for some...reason. Maybe she's a freak or whatever, but i just always found it odd behavior. Not saying the allegations of harassment are true, but if they are found to be true, ot wouldn't surprise me...

People need to be able to pick their own dancers for any reason they want. I don't care if the singer wants everyone to wear chicken suits. But pushing someone to do something se×ual is weird. If a man did that it would be a slam dunk no no.
@Meansi Жыл бұрын
The “nonmandatory” events reminds me of a job that had “girls nights”. I was told I didn’t have to go when I explained I was uncomfortable with going. So I didn’t go. At my next check in meeting with my supervisor she went on and on about how “the girls” were concerned and hurt that I didn’t go. I caved and went to the next one. The event was fine but the week long anxiety about having to go wasn’t worth it. I was so glad when a man was finally hired in my department and the girls nights stopped.

You know some people just absorb the negativity they experience and then spit it all over the place. They project their insecurities onto others and as soon as they get power they abuse it instead of doing some self-reflection and healing and being the change they wanna see in the world. Plus: If normalizing fat bodies in the media is your main priority, there's a high risk that you get kind of blinded by that and ignore all the other things that are relevant in society...

Mhm yes exactly!!! Some people are saying well why didn't the dancers just quit is ridiculous IMO. The dancers might need the job to keep a roof over their head or want to be professional dancers. These are very serious allegations, but I think they are true. There is a sex club in Amsterdam that is known for incorporating bananas into the acts, it's aptly called the Bananenbar. I think 9 out of 10 women would not want to set a foot into a place like that. These sex clubs don't compare to what most Americans imagine a strip club to be. It's not just women dancing around a pole taking off clothes, people are performing actual sex acts for the audience.
@inferiorinferno8859 Жыл бұрын
@@DellaStreet123 Like I mentioned in my own comment, no sane person sets foot into that bar. I've never heard of someone completely normal, who doesn't has something fucked up going on in their head, going to that place.
@catrinacrystallina Жыл бұрын
There’s an interview that TMZ found where she’s asking about the banana club because she wanted to go. It seems like it’s a thing and their gimmick. But as Michelle stated when she was reading the complaints of the lawsuit, the employees who went did not know what kind of club they were going to so they didn’t know what they were signing up for when they went.
