I mean, the whole point of Candide is to demonstrate the foolishness of blind faith and unconditional optimism though :D "It Must Be So" is supposed to show how Candide can't bring himself to question his beliefs to grow as a person and start understanding the world for what it really is, which is what he'll learn to do by the end of the musical ("Make Our Garden Grow"). This reminds me of a recent video where actresses were gushing about how inspiring and empowering Evita is. Evita is... not supposed to be a good guy? And she definitely wasn't in real life? x_x
