Never heard his music, only his name in passing. I'm like you for country music. Anything after Hank Jr is a little more modern than I like. John Prine was a mational treasure we lost in recent years. The man was one of the greatest lyricists to ever live, in my opinion. He's probably more "folk" than "country", if you want to be technical about it, perhaps, but an undeniable talent regardless. "Sam Stone", "Souvenirs", and "Paradise" are three songs that everyone reading this comment should really consider hearing at some point in their lives. "Souvenirs", which was a collaboration with Steve Goodman, is my favorite song. This turned into a much longer comment than I had initially intended to write, but here we are.
