I mean, it's not like people consider Soul an emotional powerhouse, Luca and Turning Red charming slice of life films, or Elemental a cute enough love story! Those films have no positive reception whatsoever and totally wouldn't have made their money back if they went to theaters! So we're going to be releasing even more cash cow- uh, I mean totally needed sequels! Because I'm sure the reason why Inside Out 2 is doing so well is because it's a sequel and not because we put real passion in and wanted to give the first film continuation! Yep. This decision to make a bunch of sequels that no one asked for isn't going to haunt for the rest of our careers at all. Please see Elio and Hoppers guys! @joven_wbu what do you mean? Every emotion we have is there for our survival including those we consider negative. The problem arises when some emotions get dominant over other emotions. There needs to be a balance.
@DoranGaleАй бұрын
The crazy thing is, we are taught to bottle up those base emotions by the time we enter our teen years. Show too much joy and you’re childish. Show too much fear or sadness and you’re weak. Show too much disgust (or discomfort/aversion) and you’re a narrow-minded prude. Anger… well, that’s interpreted differently depending on your gender assignment at birth. Anxiety, envy, embarrassment, and boredom all feed the need to upgrade-change your look, act differently, buy the latest things. When we’re just staring to learn who we really are, we’re pressured to choose who we’re going to be and given examples to model ourselves after. That’s the illusion of self-discovery linked with coming of age. The big epiphany hits later: That’s the lifeboat I found in a storm, not my ship, not my land.

@@bookwermofthefandoms a number of ways. there are several times riley makes her own decisions free from the emotions. it starts off with the hockey at the beginning, when joy said "riley's got this" there are also numerous times she resists anxiety and doesnt want to do something. then in the end at the emotional culmination of the show theres the whole "joy, riley wants you" moment. shes not just the emotions. also wasnt the whole point of it that "you dont get to choose who riley is"? that was like the lesson both anxiety and joy learn. shes her own person. there was even an element of that in the first movie, when anger comes up with the idea to run away. he puts the idea in, and waits a moment. then it pulls into the console, and anger remarks "she took it." as in riley made that decision herself, anger just provided the idea

I've been bingeing reactions to this (and many other movies), and you've been the first to utter anything similar to the words in my head, when Anxiety is doom-planning/plotting, trying to resolve the downward spiral that she's caused: "Anxiety, you can't fix this." No one emotion can fix this. We learned that Joy needed Sadness in the first one, and the other emotions are a little to abstract to focus so much energy on for her, because she's not afflicted by any fear or disgust-related conditions, so this movie it's anxiety, fueled by envy. At 43, I've had one, maybe 2 panic attacks in my life, because I'm on the spectrum, I don't take external things in very thoroughly, but I've always been a shoulder to cry on, an ear to bend, and have helped many people through traumatic, PTSD-causing events. This is the most powerful thing I've noticed. Anxiety will not fix anxiety. It's about acceptance and understanding, influence from reflection on the other factors and emotions related, and even not related. When we mourn, for example, we focus so much on the pain and sadness, but why do we feel pain and sadness? Because of the love and happiness we felt for the one lost (just for one simple example). If we begin to focus on and remember the good memories, we can warp those feelings, and incorporate the positive feelings in with the pain. This is why I love these movies. They show us how we can control our emotions. I highly recommend Cinema Therapy's review, as well.

As a person with anxiety, this one hit almost too close to home lol "Everything feels like a big deal then" YEP. That was one of my favorite things they did, was not shy away from the fact that when you're a teenager things tend to feel way out of proportion all. the. time. Everything is a huge deal, everything is life or death, and then you look back on it and go "wow, dramatic much little me?" But it's not even wrong, those things are a big deal, it's just the reaction to them during puberty/before you properly develop more is exaggerated.
