@computerbomb3 жыл бұрын
Omg ofcourse there is gonna be a comment by a npd or asd about how theyre misunderstood. No you're not, people that didnt study about it are actually móre empathic towards you since they will be projecting their empathic abilities onto you. Which makes sense since empathy is what makes us human and we simply can't imagen people not having it. You know damn well that disorders that are characterized by a lack of empathy is the equivalent of bad and potentially evil. A narcissist or sociopath is not a person 'with' a disorder, they 'are' their disorder. Someone that can watch another living being get hurt without feeling anything, can't ever be or become a good person. They can at best be taught to live by a forced upon moral as long as it will get them the best outcome. DON'T emphasize with narcissist or sociopaths/psychopaths.

I work in the mental healthcare field. Licensed therapists DO NOT diagnose people. THEY ARE NOT DOCTORS. The only people who can offer official diagnoses are psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners (working under a psychiatrist). The fact that he had a THERAPIST (a marriage counselor at that) and was acting like she was his “expert opinion” in order to make the BULLSHIT they were spewing in the Jake Paul series sound more believable is so frustrating. It made watchers (young people) feel like everything being said was definitely true, and then they took this believability and used it to paint a picture of individuals with personality disorders as “gross” and “scary.” FUCKING GROSS.
@walkingparadox104 жыл бұрын
I work in the mental health care field too and I have definitely seen so much demonization about personality disorder from others in the field. You wouldn't say that someone with depression or anxiety is gross and disgusting so I hate that personality disorders are different. Also even those that are qualified to make diagnoses can't do so without even meeting the person. You can't tell with they are just playing up certain traits for the camera or if it is a problem through their whole life. It just gives credibility to others who try to diagnose, especially antisocial personality disorders, over the internet. Just because someone makes bad choices or is unlikable does not mean that they are a sociopath. After all Jake Paul is still pretty young and has time to change and personality disorders are a life long diagnosis so should be thought through. Edit: embarrassing grammar mistake
@hamkittysan4 жыл бұрын
No reputable psychiatrist, or psychologist would ever diagnose a person people purely off of videos that the individual put on the internet. Shane said that Kati had said several youtubers were sociopaths which if she was diagnosing off of KZbin content is completely unethical. Psychological examinations exist for a reason, mental illnesses can be challenging and difficult to diagnose correctly and trying to get a full picture of a persons mental well being purely based off of clips that the individual has edited and put in the internet is impossible.

Katie Morton was probably the most dangerous and unprofessional addition to the entire series, as someone who's been studying psychology for the past 5 years (in university) 1) most of her claims were plain wrong and 2) I wouldn't trust her with actual clinical patients, her behavior was disrespectful and childish. She has some good videos, but not on difficult clinical cases - and she shouldn't, that's not her expertise and she should have acknowledged that from the start. "What kind of therapist calls someone with a mental disorder gross and creepy?" THANK YOU! That pissed me off so much! A legit therapist (or at least a good one) would not say that, even if that was their private feelings. They at least would never talk about it the way the woman in the series talks about it. Also, clinically speaking, she's over exaggerating and somehow at the same time oversimplifying what a sociopath is. I had a huge problem with the 'psychological' discussions in his 'documentary'. Especially considering Jake Paul's history and current events, it was also incredibly ridiculous to me how easily she decided he was normal... I mean, a professional would know that it takes more than the time she spent there to diagnose a disorder of ANY kind, let alone a personality disorder. Shane and the 'therapist' lady were pretty clearly using it for shock value. He is racist. His audience is mostly children, and he's making it ok to be racist in their eyes. There's really no way around it. He chooses to associate with people who are known for making racist comments. Didn't Jeffy just call Jackie Aina a gorilla just last year? And Shane chooses to call Jeffree family. You can't deny the obviously racist 'jokes' he put in nearly all of his old skits. Also, all these people in their apologies saying they were 'in a really dark place'... So what? You can have emotional and mental struggles like the rest of us, but you still have to own up to the bullshit you did to others during that time. Shane and his like saying 'I'm not that person anymore, I don't know who they are! That's not me!' is just an attempt to separate themselves from their actions and responsibilities. Also also, he didn't really address a lot of the stuff about the under aged girls... All of those videos, recordings, etc, are pretty easy to see them for what they are if it's something you've seen or experienced before. Grooming, and taking advantage of his status to get away with incorporating children into sexual situations. Worse, he gets away with publicly flaunting it by pretending they are all just jokes. Him saying 'our family is just like that' and they 'thought it was funny' doesn't make it less disturbing (frankly it makes it more so if his family honestly enables, condones, and normalizes placing children in sexual situations...). All this is just my opinion tho...

I just love how shane claimed that people with a narcissistic disorder don't commit suicide. The suicide rate of people with that disorder is actually pretty high, as depression often comes in hand with personality disorders. Tbh the therapist from the Jake Paul videos also seemed incredibly shady. I will get my nursing degree next year and I noticed a lot of false information about mental health issues in these videos. Also being empathetic is not a disorder, even if he likes to make it seem like the hardest thing to go through, and it is not as big of a deal as shane wants to make it. You understand peoples feelings? Then you would not talk about yourself everytime someone talks about their trauma.
@phoenixgirl704 жыл бұрын
Shane stating a Marilyn was too “glamorous” so that was his reason she was a narcissist in his opinion. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. It was a time in Hollywood everyone had a persona for the public but didn’t always reflect their true selves. I actually think Shane lacks empathy completely. I think he has a personality disorder and has to mimic others. Empathetic people would never do the stuff he did. I’ve been very sensitive my entire life. There’s no way in hell an empathetic does harmful racist so-called jokes. The focus is always on Shane. He didn’t even get a therapist or psychologist who specialized in personality disorders. She (Katie) is a family therapist. He couldn’t care enough to get the right information from the right people.

I feel you. I wanted to believe that both Shane and Jeffree had improved as people and moved on from their problematic pasts. I related so much when Jeffree talked about lashing out at other people because he felt so hurt inside, he wanted someone else to feel pain. I’ve been in that place before, and I recognized that feeling. I learned to channel my emotions in more healthy and constructive ways because I didn’t want to keep hurting people. It seems like Jeffree has not moved on from his hurtful past.

Hey its ok you need experiences like that to grow. also the internet never shows the full capacity of a personality and so it can be misleading to the best of us. i for example am trained into recognizing MLMs and scam calls and i recently fell for one. it felt really stupid but sometimes its a mix of your feelings, the situation, and what you wish to see in people. it was just a scam call which offered me a coupon for a pet store where i usually buy pet food- nothing big. i really love my cats and want to do everything right for them even if i am low on cash they get the best of the best... and i was gullible here as well and just blindly believed i got a coupon...because thats what i want to believe in some way. i want it to be a happy good luck moment. i just wanted some cat food and got scammed. now i feel stupid...but it happens. my feelings, the recent situation and the wishes in my mind played a role. no shame here, its just life. dont take it too hard!

As someone who needed a therapist and a psychiatrist, I'm going to give everybody else who feels they might be seeking one out a couple of pieces of advice. 1 - You're valid. 2 - There's zero shame here, about asking for help, someone to talk to, or needing to seek medication to help any issues you may be having. 3 - Never be afraid to fire your therapist/psychiatrist. People aren't a one size fits all - a lot of people need to go through a few before they find someone they 'click' with. 4 - You're not alone, you're not weird or strange and it's going to be okay. Do what you need to do to stay healthy, and never be afraid to ask for help if you need it. People love you. 5 - If that bitch were my therapist, I'd not just change from her, I'd send in 500 complaints about her. She's *extremely* unprofessional and frankly, a sick human being for calling someone gross and creepy for having a mental disorder. This isn't a fucking joke. It's not hilarious or cute or cool. These things are already grossly uncared for in good ol 'Murickuh. We don't need shallow and pedantic comments like hers to fuel the fire.

@@sage_in_palmmall5301 i agree, often dark humor is self-deprecating, but it’s become common for bigots to say hateful things and claim it was a joke. for example, shane dawson calling a black girl stupid because she’s black, black hair nasty, and using the n word on multiple occasions, often while in black face, is absolutely not dark or self-deprecating humor. yes, it’s fine to joke about your own struggles and issues but that is not what shane dawson was doing and that is not what i was talking about. he was being racist as well as sexual towards animals and children and then calling it a joke. none of that is at his expense, and none of those actions are jokes because those actions have victims.

I don't think the media stigma making out everyone with npd or aspd a serial killer is apt and the fact that people love to throw around words like narcissist and sociopath casually is good. There is a need to be realistic about disorders. I think people on both sides are looking at it from a very black and white stance. One side makes them all out to be manipulative serial killers the other tries to make people with pds to be perfect baby angels who are wrongly maligned. The fact remains that it is somewhere in the middle because they're human beings who are capable of doing wrong and capable of doing right. And just because they do something doesn't mean it's necessarily because of their pd, either. It's more complex than people want to grasp or accept. Empaths also don't make a person's situation about them. They may share in their sadness and such but they won't sit there and talk about how they know EXACTLY how that person feels. Because they don't. The understand and they share in their pain but they haven't been through their situation they can't feel exactly the same way. They may be friends with someone who just lost their mom and see them sobbing out of grief. They may feel their sadness but not on the same level as that person who lived with their mother, who was lovingly cared for and loved unconditionally by their mother and whom they returned that unconditional love for. They may put themselves in that person's shoes and feel irreparably guilty and distraught for that person, they may have even come to love and enjoy their mothers company as well but their sadness could never possibly reach the sheer depths of the own child of that mother. That doesn't make the sadness any less valid, though. Most of all they will support their friend through their guilt and show they are not alone but they will absolutely never try to make such pain about them. Because they actually understand that pain and are able to see that such comments aren't appropriate for someone in such devastating grief. They understand and they support that person.

I've actually met two people who were diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder while in therapy for my own issues (schizoid personality disorder, I'm very open about that) and those people were not gross or evil or anything. Could kind of relate with them even because while my own symptoms are different I still also have some similarities with my disorder. Calling people like us disgusting for something we had no control over is the real disgusting thing here. Like I'm this way because of how I was raised and probably also because of shitty genetics. I can only control how I handle my issues but it will never go away.
@margaretconnor56234 жыл бұрын
Seriously. My brother is schizophrenic and his wife has borderline personality disorder. They're both wonderful people and I absolutely love them. Another brother is a sociopath and I love him but he doesn't care to manage it and does what he likes, no matter who it hurts so we don't like him coming over too often. We still love him but it's hard. We've tried to get him to go to therapy but as I said, he doesn't want to manage it at all and seems to be happier doing what he wants, even if it hurts us. Which is why he's not allowed to come over too often. He knows why and has no problem with it. He's never physically hurt people, but because of his behavior and actions, he's very damaging as a person. But that's due to his own choices. If he allowed himself to be treated and actually cared to manage it then he'd be fine to be around, he just chooses not to. My other brother and his wife both manage their disorders and as I said, they're wonderful to be around. I myself have what I think to be a few sociopathic tendencies due to trauma I experienced. Never been formally diagnosed but when people cry in front of me, my emotions completely shut down and I feel nothing. Absolutely nothing. But like, it's only in person. If I'm reading or watching a show or movie and a character cries, I cry too and feel for them. But if it's physically in front of me, I completely shut down and I'm void of all emotions and don't know what to do. So I'm not good at comforting people at all. I try because I know that's what you're supposed to do, but I don't want to. My entire brain just pushes me to leave and ignore them and get away from them and I force myself to try and comfort them because I know that's what a person is supposed to do. I should probably talk to a therapist about that but it's a matter of money. Can't really afford it so I try to deal with it on my own.
@varinia12084 жыл бұрын
@@margaretconnor5623 honestly I guess because I've been hurt for years at school and all that that when someone cryes (no matter how much I care for the person) I'm just like "should I leave you alone?" and I'm kind of waiting for them to stop. Also I hate crying myself and I noticed that I distance myself from people I made friends with so idk. I do honestly rather be alone most of the time than be around people

She has broken something very important, confidentiality. She is not helping anything with what she does. I am with everyone who says she is harming people with psychological issues and disorders. Family therapists are therapists though, and genuine ones can go to accredited colleges and receive national certification after passing a test and going through the process. They then maintain that certification through ongoing education and honoring the code of ethics. This is what Kati is violating, there are many things she does which cross the line and she should not have a license and be thrown in the same bin as “Dr” Phil.

The Mexican Nation wasn't established by the original Mexican people? Nations weren't originally established by a specific people? You mean Mexico doesn't have traditions, history and culture synonymous to a specific type of bloodline originated from a specific type of people? Its impossible for a word to describe a land as well as a people and language? That's like saying Mario is Japanese because he was created and is popular there. He's still Italian. So, Salma Hayek's roots all disappear because she's "American"? Danny Trejo is "American", so where his blood comes from is the same as Trump? Really? So weird. Ask a white boy where he is from and he will announce it right down to detail with pride. City, state, even tell you where his Grandparents are from. Ask a brown person and they gotta be vague and just be like: "I'm American!" Lol and they gotta dissect everything. Mexican people have bloodlines that have ancient origins linking back to the Aztecs. A nation is something that's written on paper. Borderlines are drawn and re-drawn all the time. Bowen Eros the concept of race is based on phenotype (physical characteristics that are observable- like darker or lighter skin, nose shapes, eye color, hair texture, etc). If a family originally from Nigeria moved to Mexico, and had children, the child’s race would be described as black, however they are Mexican because that is where they live. Similarly, if a family from Iceland moved to Mexico and had children, the children would be racially white, but their nationality would be Mexican. There are many brown people in Mexico because of the original Mexican people, sure, but someone simply being Mexican does not mean they’re brown, and also someone who is brown is not inherently Mexican. Two individuals who are from Mexico and India respectively may be around the same skin color, and could be perceived as being the same race, but their nationalities would obviously be different. Also many black people in America are more “vague” because when they were brought to the US because of slavery, they were not allowed to continue their original culture or use their original language or be able to read or write, so nobody’s great-great-great grandparents couldn’t write down “we were from this region in Nigeria”, so their descendants have no way to know where their ancestors were from. They have to be vague because they don’t have any specifics. Many white people can look back either through their families stories and find out where they’re from or even go back to logs from Ellis Island and find their ancestors name and country of origin. Black people’s ancestors were not recorded down anywhere. They wouldn’t bring slaves over and write down “oh this is so-and-so from this region in Zimbabwe”. They would say “we have 1000 slaves from zimbabwe on this ship” but never their identities. I hope this wasn’t too rambly, but yeah, Mexican is not a race, it’s a nationality.

Here’s something to remember: Shane has said he doesn’t remember being molested, and his family denies he ever was; he’s just decided he has all the traits of someone who was and therefore he was. Which makes his comments about Tati’s abuse even more disgusting.

There’s even clips of her on his podcast sometimes, like the one clip where he was giving his “justifications for pedophillia” (pedophillia should not be justified, there is nothing right about using children in sexual contexts) and she was so uncomfortable, rightfully, when he was talking about the 6 year old girl on Instagram that he called sexy. I just, I dunno I feel so terrible cause on the show she said multiple times that she wanted to move on and that he would get arrested for something like that and the way he raised his voice to drown her out and continue his “justification” made me feel so uncomfortable and awful I can’t imagine how it made her feel.

the clip where he talked about the little girls hair was the most disgusting for me bc it shows that it's not just his "humour" and that he actually makes derogatory remarks toward black people even outside of his "comedy videos"
@Iron_Stigmata4 жыл бұрын
EXACTLY. I know it seems stupid of me to say and the clip itself seems innocuous in comparison to the others, but the difference is how CASUALLY and QUICKLY a remark about a black child's hair left his mouth. Specifically about her hair, too. Hair is a big thing for black women and girls. It wasn't scripted, he wasn't in mega entertainment mode, he looked quite casual. And that awful racism came out SO fast and SO easily. It was that clip that made me go from 99% sure to 100% sure that this man is genuinely racist in his real life, not just on his awful videos.

Misha Rogerson Making fun of someone’s hair in general is extremely rude, but especially for black women. To not know how offensive it is to comment on a black woman’s hair when you’re not a black woman just shows his ignorance/apathy.

@Sun Flower I agree with what you're saying. Black people do make derogatory remarks about other races but that doesn't mean that derogatory jokes/comments directed towards black people are automatically correct and justified

Yeah I mean spicy jokes are only usually spicy if you don't believe it so the fact he carries on like that outside of his "comedy" makes me wonder if he just thinks everyone believes shit like that but for some reason they only discuss it while joking or something?
