Morimoto HID kit review (4300K 50 watt) 5five ballast installed on 2001 honda odyssey

Quick drive with the morimoto hid kit, from the retrofit source. The kit is easy to install, even a total novice like me installed it within 1 hour. I didn't include an instillation video, because each vehicle is different. My only tip is to get a lot of zip ties and keep the wires out of moving parts. I hope this video helped convey, just how good this kit is. Even though I had a few problems, I was taken care of. I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone.

I switched to standard sized Zenex ballasts that I got form Amazon for $38 including shipping and the output was nearly double what I had originally. I then paired it with B stock bulbs in the retrofit source website's closeout section for under $20 shipped and it's literally like daylight in front of my car now. I wanna say it's brighter than some OEM HIDs such as Lexus, Audi, BMW, Benz... I'll post my own video on here of how my lights look but am still annoyed with the cutoff.

Haha I was looking at these streets thinking damn it looks like Detroit then you said Detroit and 8mile. Hah. I'm glad to see 4300k is so white-blue not white-yellow. I was thinking about the 5500k but I don't want blue because in the rain and snow of Michigan the blue doesn't pop like a warmer color does.

+silverspiderpig5 Lol, could probably tell from the pot holes too. That is the very reason I went the 4300k bulbs. Wanted the brightest light possible in all weather conditions.

The Mercury equivalent to the Crown Vic is the Grand Marquis (I own one from 1999) Was going to put a set of silverstar ZXEs or HIDs in it until it began breaking down alot, so I just went with the cheaper silverstar variant when I needed to change them because they dimmed much dimmer than a candle, the coverage on my headlights are still rather... pathetic, probably why I hit a deer and didnt see it atall before it was in front of me, I was looking off to the sides to look for them but it was still too dark.. But either way those HIDs look like theyd be great especially when driving in bad weather, when theres no street lamps, or in deer season where they just jump out in front of you. It would help avoid an accident for sure!

To get really good coverage you could do a 2004-06 LS430 projector retrofit.

would a cop be able to tell i have hid's just by looking at them with a 4300k kit ? or would he confuse ir with regular halogens ?

Bigyhx they would, anything more than 20 feet away, the 4300k bulbs give off a bright blue hue. Cops don't really enforce the hid law in my area too much though.

All these people asking or telling him that he needs projector housings clearly don’t know anything about aiming the lights! I’ve been blinded more times by projector housings than simple reflectors!

Its not DoT approved. That't all. Even if you have DoT approved light bulbs, the reflective housings don't approve with HID or LED. If you aim them properly, you should be fine but they still blind other drivers.

Alexander Cordero I don't drive that car anymore, but for the few years with the kit installed nothing melted.

Why would it melt? Stock halogen light bulbs are typically 55W-65W. HID bulbs are 35W, which is much cooler, or up to 50W if you get higher wattage ballasts. HID's run cooler than halogens, so why would it melt? If it melts with 50W HID's, then it would also melt with 55W-65W halogens when using them as high beams. That would mean that several million Honda Odysseys all around the world would all have melted stock halogen headlamps, by using your logic.
