Eddie and Jakob are a father and son duo that tries to introduce the old and the new school to different generations of music. We do side by side comparisons of old classics and new covers to show the different generations that there is something old in the new and something new in the old. We also try to provide generational education, provide context for the music, and some trivia with a bit of comedy. Eddie was born in the USA but his family immigrated from Odessa, Ukraine in the 1970s but he can still fluently speak Russian, so we also do Russian covers and provide commentary bi-lingually. Jakob is a 9-year-old boy who loves music and can play the piano by ear and we are best of friends!

Morissette is really up there with the best. Other than the original by the Foreigner, I haven't found another version I like more than that by Mariah and Morissette.

Clearer whistle for mori

Mariah has better breath control in here. Remember Maeiahs signature singing is a whispery tone, very airy however the runs are always clear and the notes are crispier, she chooses easily whether to sing in legatto form is staccato really separating the notes. Also Mariah's whistle is far more intricate than Aman's, she has over 35 notes well separated without loosing continuity of the arpeggio meaning she is using vocal dynamics perfectly in whistle ascending and descending plus the whistle is given a different form, not the common piercing whistle. Mariah manipulates her whistles tones sometimes piercing, crystalline , airy, metallic etc. This is power ballad arrangement and piercing whistles do not go vwith this type of music, far overwhelming and drown out the rest of the production but of course Mariah knows this because she is the producer of the song whereas Morrissette is doing a cover trying to make the song more hers but ends up degrading the rest of the production

@@shareshareshare8590 because she is using a piercing normal whistle tone, Mariah's is texturized this whistle in the original track is in the background and is the continuation of the last chorus where'as she in front belting so the whistle derives from the airy sound so it has a texture continuity and will not overwhelm her belt with a piercing whistle also the run Mariah does us far more complex and even harder in the Allan Carr show and the X Factor UK where she does an ascending arpeggio, jumps 2 sekitines and goes back for an airy sustained whistled then changes 3 different notes and adds vibratto. Holding a whistle is the easiest thing you can do with it and it can be sustained for a long time because very little air is used, Mariah once did back to back whistle runs using 55 notes (The One shinning through the rain special" and its easy to tell Morissette is not really comfortable because when does a run in whistle she moves her jaw and tongue to add a pseudo vibratto but that's because she isn't as proficient yet. If you see Mariah doing runs in whistle she does not move her jaw or tongue because it's meant to be a guttural technique, she uses her lips sometimes but thets to change texture but even when she is singing actual words in whistle she barely moves her mouth, it's minimal gesticukation because it all has to come from the larynx. In the same video I told you can see her running 55 notes and what she moves is her hand and head as to follow rhythm but not her mouth or tongue. That's the proper way to do whistle voice runs, no tongue tension, relaxed palate and perfect breath support and controll. Of course Mariah knows this because she rearranged and produced the song so her vocal dynamics are what they were meant to be, she is producing for her own skill and we all know that's difficult. Many can sing a Mariah Carey song yet none can surpass her original tracks and that's the reason nobody covers her albums because by mainstream standards she has one of the hardest repertoires to perform. Everybody tries to sing All I want for Christmas like Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, and many more and nobody has gotten close

*Mori's whistle is much longer w/ raspy, and controlled type, beautiful, powerful tone/voice and resonance along with her emotions with light choir, and light gestures which makes it more remarkable. (THE BEST VERSION). While Mariah's tone has lighter and soothing voice, stage presence and good song delivery, whistles w/ riffs and runs and heavy choir which is quite unpleasant for me, it needs to be more emotional, powerful and controlled like Morissette's but I think it doesn't have to since Mariah is already a Legend and proven herself that shes the best and influenced many people through her whistles and techniques in this current generation. She has this type of voice that made her even famous. Some may say that she has a bad attitude but Idc we're talking about vocals here. Respect both artist. No doubt that Mariah is the Legend...she’s doing it for entertainment and proved her wonderful rendition and a beautiful voice. Young Morrissette slayed the feelings with a little bit more newer stuffs, Her control is great with sustainable breathing on her whistle. Although they sang in the same key almost. Morri’s chest voice is thicker and less straining. Her squeaks are even clearer. Morrissette expressed the real feelings but not just for entertainment. I love them both.

During that day, Mori was not a big Star like now and there were lots of performers and have very limited time. Mori with deep emotional tone (more dramatic) which gives a song more feelings and cuts to the inner soul of the listener, Its much clear coz mori's voice was always louder than the backup singers with a good way finish with a stunning whistle tone with curl. MC's version is much of a Gospel theme with so much backup vocals at the end singing the chorus but still a very good cover for the original song by the foreigner. But Mori's version should be much better than MC's version coz its just a cover for the latter's version simple as that but the quality of their voices are very much different. Its a tie for me but the winner are always the listener. Peace.

@@cortegaish just so it is clear, I am a huge Mori fan. However, Apple+ TV said the Mariah Christmas special 7 Dec hit No. 1 in 100 countries. She may be a bit older but with tech, her voice still brings in the viewers. Having said that, I do not think comparing them is fair to either or to the listeners or viewers. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think Mori is better on all fronts.
