Last month, I attended Sunday School 2.5 miles away in a nearby dark sky community. Both communities and surrounding areas have the same dark sky rating. The teacher repeatedly said that they were persecuted like Abinadi, when having to move the temple from Erda to Tooele. It is still regarded as unfortunate that the temple is a few miles farther. I was told the rural residents of Erda did not want the residential development that came with the temple. No specific mention of possible impact on the observatory complex from a 3-story, plus the steeple, lighted building. 85% LDS, and a baffling narrative given the circumstances. I have been hoping for an update on this location, relative to what is happening elsewhere. Thank you for compiling this progression and outcome.

lol love your thoughts on the boys setting off fireworks. Telling your bishop might get you out of trouble? They damaged the building so I think they would be sold out and “taught” repentance by turning them in. Can’t cost the church money.

Maybe but the church protects sexual predators regularly (and pays thousands of dollars to keep the victims quiet). Why can't vandals be included in church protection?
