They seem to be reaching those who need them and that makes me so happy! When I first left the church I couldn't get my hands on enough info and I hope to help others who are in that stage. Your support is much appreciated.

I would guess that many people who have "SSA" return to the beliefs they were indoctrinated with as children, do so out of shame. If they left mormonism (for example) because of issues surrounding the treatment of lgbtq people, but never fully deconstructed the belief system, they can and do go back. This is often because they feel broken and were taught that they need the church in order to be "fixed", or at the very least, to be "acceptable" to gawd. I'm grateful that I had fully deconstructed mormonism before fully understanding my queerness. Once I understood that it's all bs, it was obvious that I was never broken in the first place. Thanks for another great newscast!

The longer I am out, the more and more I understand how important deconstruction is. People who don't deconstruct (which I think is probably a life time pursuit in many ways) tend to feel that brokenness and shame and it's toxic. My husband and I stopped attending church on the same day. I had already started the deconstruction process and he just "walked away". Five years later our marriage almost ended because of his lack of deconstruction. He was still functioning shame filled and patriarchal...aka...not functioning well. I am so glad you understand that your worth exists because you exist...no strings attached. It is really hard for me to read about people who are demanding respect to stay in a system that ultimately says that their love is a sin. I can't support it.

Thanks for a great update. An individual who claims that they speak to God, needs to addess these things first. 1. Please show proof. 2. Ask God why he only speaks to them and a few others. Doesn't God realize that many have no or little faith because of His/Her/Their lack of communication to the whole world.

a REAL prophet speaks with God . a REAL prophet speaks truth. a REAL prophet does not lie or allow others to lie for him. a REAL prophet does not allow the use of lawfare to justify dishonesty within the church, a REAL prophet does not distrust the people he leads while demanding that they trust him.

I don't think anyone should be able to claim that they speak for god (not even those who wrote the bible). Thank you for the support!

Ugh...it's such a mess. At this point the city pretty much knows it will be sued if they don't approve it but they want to maintain integrity. I wish the church actually practiced "love thy neighbor."

I know you are reading (thus quoting) articles, but unless things have changed since I looked into it last, "SSA" and "same sex attraction" are generally only used by churches and others opposed to LGBTQ+ identities. "LGBTQ+" or simply "queer" would be better alternatives. Maybe substitute one of these when quoting like you replace the s-word with "unalive" or similar. I'm just an old cis straight ally, so I'm happy to be corrected by anyone with more up to date terminology.

I do prefer to use inclusive terms that do not dehumanize or minimize...HOWEVER...I think it is important for people to understand how damaging and disgusting the rhetoric is so they can know to avoid it and/or help those who are stuck in it. That last article (as I said) was very difficult to read because of the language they use. I cannot find a single part of me that can "respect their beliefs" when it comes to articles like that.

My thought is that the dollar is losing its buying power as seen with the recent inflation. In fact, a total overhaul of our currency would not surprise me at all. I believe TSCC sees the writing on the wall in regards to the USD and has redoubled their efforts to convert the soon to be worthless dollar to tangible assets in the form of real-estate. While you could give many reasons for amassing land, from church buildings to welfare efforts, amassing Gold or BTC would not be seen in good light. I mean how often did we hear the Roman Catholics being put down over their many treasures. I could be wrong but watch the Dollar... with Digital and the BRICS currency on the near horizon I am pretty confident that we are seeing the conversion from bank entries to tangibles.

But Northstar advocates suppressing sexual orientation in order to follow the church’s stance on the topic. They may not advocate for mixed orientation marriages but they don’t help a person reconcile their sexual orientation with themselves. I’ve had friends in the org and they were ultimately harmed by it even though at first they thought it was helpful.

Churches need to loose tax exempt status, in the whole country. We could require churches to follow god command to tithe 10%. If a church doesn’t give 10% of total intact to actual helping community then it must pay taxes on all its income.

Good to get these numbers out in the open, but the state map is misleading since it makes it look like the black circles are the areas. This really hurts and discredits your effort to encourage transparency
@GenerallyUnquotable
@GenerallyUnquotable Ай бұрын
Caption from the map: CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS PROPERTIES IN IDAHO These locations were identified as properties owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in data published by Truth & Transparency. Larger properties are denoted by larger circles. Does that help?
@NathanLewis-pk3kq
@NathanLewis-pk3kq Ай бұрын
@@GenerallyUnquotable It's best to make that transparent, since the image plots area on area, which only the careful will notice. Real change can only be effected if we are careful about being honest in our reporting, i.e., honest in presenting in such a way that we are transparent. Only that way can we build trust.
@GenerallyUnquotable
@GenerallyUnquotable Ай бұрын
@@NathanLewis-pk3kq not even really sure what you are trying to say. The black circles are the areas.
@NathanLewis-pk3kq
@NathanLewis-pk3kq Ай бұрын
@@GenerallyUnquotable so all of their properties are parcels in the shape of circles? The church owns 0.1% of the land in Idaho. The areas covered by the circles in your map cover much more than that. Thus, the graphic is misleading and hurts your case. If we want to call out the church for being misleading, we need to be sure that we're proper models of that, and not the pot calling the kettle black.
