Loving this is interview! As interesting and as informative as any Ken Burns documentary I've ever watched. I've been listening while Googling key terms used during the interview. Lloyd has researched this topic and his information is spot on. Good job, both of you!

About experiencing Armageddon … there were graphic pictures and a book about how Armageddon would look. I didn’t realize the impact until a therapist suggested that although I didn’t believe in a physical resurrection, the Armageddon was taking place internally. It made so much sense.

The story about Lloyd objecting to coloring on a Christmas project because of his religious beliefs and having the teacher make an example of him hit hime for me. I was raised in the Church of Christ, and I had a similar experience over my religious objection to dancing at a young age.

@ 42:39 Mr Evans makes a good point about an authoritative watchtower book being theologically inconsistent in 1999. This was due,my research shows,to the fact that watchtower writers of the 1990s and beyond were grappling with the difficult task of interpreting watchtower theology after the passing of a certain individual, who more than others, was the 'mind' behind watchtower theology. This was so because from the 1940s to the 1990s Watchtower theology was largely the product of one mind. The mind of Frederick Franz. Franz was a man so central to the theology of the JW that among his peers at the upper echelon of the watchtower society he was known as 'the oracle'. Franz died in 1992.

Nice to see you getting to people from similar groups. Can I suggest a few people to interview? Can you interview Rob Schenck and the Judaism Unbound podcast team?

When I was in my early 20’s and my kids were little I was looking for a religion for us. I talked to Mormons. I thought wait they wrote there own book this isn’t the Bible. Then I let the Jw’s in we had a great conversation but it wasn’t In line with my belief that god loves everyone regardless. He created us all therefore he loves us all. Then my sisters sister in law invited to her church it freaked me out! People would go to the alter be touched then “pass out”! Never went back. Then the Catholic Church. I went to the classes got baptized. As I went more questions than answers. It just wasn’t sitting right inside. I decided to give up on it. I thank god i didn’t end up in a high demand religion. It so easily could have happened.

Wow! JWs are allowed to kiss in the UK?? Here in Québec it's a big no-no! You'd definitely at least be put under restrictions if elders found out you're kissing someone before marriage. So technically a couple's first kiss is the kiss they exchange during their wedding ceremony. I always felt it didn't make sense, but they'd talk about these rules very often at meetings here.

God talked to me because i turned down BYU that i had applied for. And he has been talking ever since non-stop. NO where does the bibles expression to confess your sins to one another means to confess them to those uninvolved. It means confess to those you sin against.

Elders meet with you for Causing Divisions? Verse 11= My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ” said 1st to Corinthians at 1:11-17. Would the WatchTower disfellowship Chloe’s house for causing divisions?
