I really appreciate this. I did my best at work this morning but my boss's expectations were going around in my head, hoping that he saw my intent and not the worser version that keeps popping into my head.

Thank you for reminding me. This is one of the biggest lessons I've learned after going through years of therapy: feeling guilty for past mistakes will not fix them. Those feelings will, in fact, make the problems worse. For me, this mainly applies to self-care. Just because I didn't get to bed early one night doesn't mean I'm a horrible person. It just means I have room to improve. And in my opinion, that's a much more exciting existence than already being perfect at something.

I have been having a bit of a multi-day meltdown due to the sudden accessibility changes of one of my favorite special interests. I feel so dramatic for not being able to suck it up or redirect my focus to something else. So I appreciate the message. It helped ❤

Nooooo that's such a horrible of a thing to have to deal with! Like for me I realize yes okay, maybe redirecting focus or telling myself these things happen could help someone else. And maybe it would help me a tiny bit. But I just can't expect myself to deal well with this stuff. Multi-day meltdown, I definitely have had in situations like this. Sending you best wishes, I hope things feel better as soon as possible ❤❤

Thanks so much. I really needed to hear this today as I’ve been so stressed out lately caring for a sick relative. It’s hard enough to care for myself most days so I’m getting really overwhelmed and can’t sleep. I’m just trying to pace myself and do what I can.

Yes. I can't seem to function unless there is another kind person there helping me. All the stuff I need to do is executive function stuff

So it takes several days to force myself to go to the store. Or wash my hair. Or get dressed. Or eat And that's not even the big stuff I should be going. Those are prerequisites for the other stuff

Taylor the struggle some days is hard, although the tug of war before unmasking is not present the audhd are both meh today and wonder if I just try to relax and watch videos or be productive with my hobby but I don't like to associate an off mood with my hobby because I don't want to potentially lose interest in my hobby from being in an off mood. 🥺👍😎👻🌶

I’ve been sick for like 2 weeks. I think it was bc of burnout. And I’ve not been able to recover bc I keep doing stuff instead of resting. I go into this mode where I’m just like grasping at reality, wanting to control everything (what/when I eat, when to go to store, when to garden) I have too many options and my brain goes into overdrive and I often end up on the couch scrolling bc it’s too much to handle or overworking myself and then burning out even more.

Some days it's important to be the opposite of productive - to rest and rejuvenate. Can we get rid of the thought we need to be productive regularly/at all?

EDIT: oops, I just realized your KZbin channel name, and I saw youre a mom. I feel so dumb 🤦‍♀️ Sorry! Play question still remains though, how do you navigate feeling like the worst mom in the world because your autism took over your role as a mother? Sometimes I feel like, well is my maternal instinct not strong enough to prevent my autism from affecting them negatively? I just feel so bad that I can't be the mom I want to be for them. They dont deserve this and ir is the most heartbreaking feeling. Yeah but what if you're also a mom with autism, and your kids also have autism, well I feel like I'm constantly failing them because. No amount of platitude it's going to convince me that I'm somehow going to not fuck things up along the day today. Individually, I could tell myself that I'd be fine with it because it ultimately doesn't matter what other people think. But if you throw kids into the mix, well you're also responsible for their lives. My autism is going to fucks things up constantly. Now, thinking back to my own childhood, it's pretty evident my dad had also had autism and somebody could say he was doing the best he could, but at the end of the day I still have trauma from it. I'm glad to be aware that I have autism, and I'm honestly glad I'm not a neurotypical mom because that way I can help my kids navigate and understand their autism. But, even if my kids were neurotypical, my autism still does some damage and I still feel inadequate.
