Good morning lovely couple Dan and Anna. At 9:27 - the flowers with many varieties and colours are usually used for cleansing ritual of the body. The lady said "mandi" which means "bathing". In Malay culture there's a cultural ritual called "mandi bunga". Mandi is bathing, bunga is flower. So, mandi bunga means "flower bathing". "Mandi bunga" normally wil use odd numbers of flowers for the cleansing ritual, for example seven types of different flowers with seven different colours. Number 7 is a special number that's believed to have a mystical power in Malay culture. It's coincide with the believe that our sky and earth are created in 7 layers. Usually you'll put the flowers in the water tubs and you take a bath by scrubbing your body with the water filled with seven flowers. Culturally "mandi bunga" is a ritual usually used to cleanse the body to remove negative energy and to ward off bad or evil spirits. Scientifically it's to refresh, reinvigorate and rejuvenate the body and spirit and bring back the positive energy. The flowers have it's own essential oils with a very nice smell that lift your spirit after you taking the bath. You should try it. It makes your body and spirit feel new and fresh. The lady also said "kubur" which means the flowers other than for "mandi bunga", it's also used to sprinkle on the graveyard as a rememberance of our family members that have passed away. Have a great day ahead guys! ❤

Thank you for explaining. In Sweden we have a midsommar tradition when young women used to pick seven flowers on the evening and put them under the pillow, then they will dream about who becomes theirs husband ♥️♥️
@nusabudiman
@nusabudiman Жыл бұрын
Very interesting. We shared the same mythology on number 7. I think because of our connection with Abrahamic religion. Christian believe that the world is created in 7 days. So number 7 becomes our shared myth. As for finding a husband or wife we Malays are encouraged to perform istiqarah prayer. Istiqarah means guidance. Usually it will be performed before sleeping in the hope when we sleep God will give us guidance through our dreams who's our best choice for husband or wife. So, did Anna pick the 7 flowers and put under the pillow and dream of you Dan? 😉
