I am a granny of 14 grandkids. We emigrated from Scotland when I was a child and never really got to know my grandparents, as they were 3000 miles away. I absolutely love being a granny! I am loving baking with them and I am teaching one of the girls how to sew. I love that you are planning for those days!

The hope chest is something I grew up seeing my mom and grandma doing. I grew up in West africa, and we used to not have bridal showers. But mom and grandma gather fabrics and kitchen tools for their daughters from the time she is a young girl. When she gets married, the elder women in her family also gift her things to start her home, and they start saving things for her first baby. Love these old traditions.

These traditions are such an important part of helping new brides/moms transition - I hope they make a comeback!

I had a 9 month old walker once... that was fun! Our latest just started walking last week at 11 months! I love this stage! I wanted to thank you. Your openness about your reversion opened up a can of worms. I had questions, and wondered why anyone would even want to go back. I did some research, attended a mass, and wow, it felt like home. And I was a practicing protestant, 2x plus a week at service with the kids. My husband was also listening to Fr. Mike (bible in a year) as a none believer, and he brought up how I should reconsider the catholic faith. I met with the priest at our local parish and here we are, me reverting and our eldest starting her work for first communion! Thank you for being a Sower of Seeds. Pray for our family and my husband's heart opening to the baptism of the rest of our children. Also, that green granny sweater is my vibe!

Good for you. Go to the Traditional Latin Mass. It's the Mass of all ages. The Mass of the Saints. The Holy Sacrifice will convert your husband.

Oh wow, I haven't heard anyone speak about a Hope Chest in a minute! I am only 37 lol, but I had one as a girl and loved adding to it. My Lane cedar chest 🥰 So happy you are passing that down to your daughter as well. Quilts from my Gram, Revere Pots handed down, and handmade ceramic pitchers and bowls were some of my treasures

I love that green "granny" sweater 😂it looks very much like a Mt cabin sweater. I'm drawn to these kind of sweaters myself because I feel like its unique and doesn't look like everyone else. When my girls had their 16th birthdays, we gave them hope chests and over the years bought them some tea towels etc. In Scotland, they used to do the same for the girls, but instead of a hope chest, it was a ",bottom drawer."

Love this! My sweet Jersey would pee and poop in the stanchion for the first week or so after we started back milking. It seemed to happen when I washed her udder with the warm rags. As our routine was reestablished, she would remember her manners and try to go before she came into the stanchion. Yes mam, I too love the routine of getting outside in the morning for chores and milking. Thanks you so much for sharing this great video❤

I'm from Washington state. Live near mt Rainier. We have antique shops but the prices are so astronomical that it makes me wonder if the owner even wants to sell the items. It's very rare for me to successfully buy something at an antique shop. But stores like goodwill seem a bit more reasonable. When I lived in Buffalo NY I used to work for an estate sale company and was blown away at the rich history, old homes, and all the stuff that the elderly saved. It was truly a treasure trove. And people were willing to part with it. I don't think the west coast is quite that rich with history in that regard.

We have shops like that around here too where the prices are so high I don't even know how they stay open because I never see anyone buy anything! The junk/consignment shops are my favorite!

I just found your videos,, I haven’t watch this one yet,, but I did watch the one where you talked about birth control and the church , I am 68 almost,, I am not a Catholic , I am Protestant,, but you are so right,, We always wanted a big family,, my husband got a vasectomy after we had two boys ,, we were very tight on money,, and every one around encouraged us to get one,, I cried,, my husband was told he was doing the right thing,, about 6 years later he had a reversal,, but it didn’t work ,, so we adopted two babies from foster care they were drug babies,, it has been very hard, they are 31 and 32 now,, but our merciful God has done amazing things in our lives,, but we talk about this ever one in a while ,,, I do wish that we would of had our own and not had the vasectomy,,, bless you for speaking up,, We do love all our children but it is still hard.

How much space would a milk cow need? We don’t have pastures, mostly just wooded land, is it still possible?
@keekeejenkins6162Ай бұрын
It's possible but you'll want to check into a hay and feed source. Or consider goats, they'll dead kill trees but they are browsers, not grazers, so trees/shrubs would be closer to their natural diet. Either way, hay and feed needs to be considered.
@HopewellHeightsАй бұрын
Read the book Keeping A Family Cow - the author talks about having kept a cow in the garage and grazing it in the yard in a subdivision lol! You really don't need much space. 5-7 acres per cow if you want them grazing, but if you don't have that kind of space you can just feed hay.
