When I was a teacher, so many of my coworkers realized they hated dropping off their own babies to take care of other peoples kids all day. So many became stay at home moms for that reason. When we bought a house, we only used my husband’s income on the paperwork because I knew as soon as I had kids I’d want to be home. Steph, your baby is so precious 😍

I had my first child when I worked as a medical assistant and then went through nursing school, got pregnant jn my 3rd semester of school, and had my son with 4 weeks left to go before I graduated. I fortunately was able to time it perfectly and get 5 months off with him before I started on a high intensity floor. And when I tell you I longed for my babies, I cried every day on the way to work and the way home and I only worked 2 12s a week. But it was still too much, breastfeeding, no sleep and finding a sitter. Was horrible and I finally though I cannot do this anymore I took a job close to home thinking that would be better but was only worse, I then was blessed with an opportunity to work at a clinic 2 days a week 8 hour days. And that has worked for us so far, unfortunately our financial situation as my husband is a farmer, does not allow for me to not work but we do survive off my paycheck which isn’t much during the off seasons but I have made big changes to my life, growing our own food, chickens, beef, deer you name it to safe money and hopefully one day come completely home and have more babies. Thank you so much for this video, I cried tears listening to you describe how I felt when I worked bedside.

I’m listening to this as I make my first sourdough bread 🙂 I’m a working mom and I think if my parents hadn’t offered to watch the kids ( I have 2) one already in school all day. I don’t think I could’ve gone back to work. And I do still get that mom guilt but I know they’re in gray hands. ❤ I love your videos.

Thank you for sharing, I feel a bit more connected to you now, as a cardiac physiologist, last 35 years in Cath labs, my colleagues were constantly calling in sick due to children illness and their own, which meant us peeps who can't have children/were not fortunate to have them had to pick up extra on-call shifts etc overnight which left a lot of animosity with some people, understandably, as in the UK staff are paid fully for being off sick. But without these women the NHS just would not stand as it is, if it were only men who don't want to do much of the people-related work. I admire and respect your decision, it's a full-on career and I really don't see how I could have juggled both whilst working in such a demanding role.

Oh boy, can I relate! I am older than you by 25 years and did the whole college thing, became a paralegal and felt I would absolutely be a loser if I stayed home with my two children!! Well, my husbands job and his promotions moved us around A LOT And so we both made the decision for me to stay at home with our two kids. I did t want anyone to raise our babies and neither did my husband. But you know something that is really sad? I breast fed my two kids and was embarrassed or maybe nervous to admit it when asked because, believe you me, they all had an opinion and it mostly was NOT in favor of! Like it was considered “euw”!! (As in yuk) what are you doing that for ? They have formula for that, you know?!! Was kind of a tough time but I was determined to do that, however, until recently, I have felt like a loser and a cultural failure for the choices I have made😢. Now, having said that, I have two awesome adult children and I couldn’t be prouder! So there! 😝🤨. (Right?!)

I absolutely loved this vid. Your opinions and facts about submission are just so in line with our reality. I love being a stay at home mom, especially as I learn to care best for my family. Clean healthier life. Amazing and rewarding. Thank you for your honesty in regards to your own marriage experiences..I found myself being that feminist as well. I am also Catholic and find myself questioning religion yet the points you have touched on today, align me with some of those religious beliefs. Ironic I know but I appreciate your video regardless of my opinions and beliefs. Thank you for sharing and being unafraid of other's opinions. By the way..I love the way your glasses look on you. I wish my pair would have looked as good. You rock them!!!❤

Inquiry - forgive me if you mentioned already - I watched your video a while ago, wrote down the instructions and eventually got around to making it myself. After leaving it for “24 hours“ (meaning I forgot about it for a few days once I was finished). I checked on it now, and I have a THICK layer of what feels like jelly...? It did stir in sort of easily-ish but just quickly stirring the jelly/oily-like substance and there's looking to be white flakes left behind. I didn't use the exact castile oil soap you mentioned but just whatever I could find at my l local store that said castile oil soap... I otherwise followed to a T plus a few drops essential oil.. Pine (my bf loves the smell) Thoughts? 🤷‍♀️

Thank you so much for your story. I completely and 100% can relate.. I am 37 weeks with baby number 4. I've always felt that the only way to be accomplished as a woman was to be the "superwoman" the mother wife career woman but my marriage has had many issues we are still working through and I have an associates in culinary but food service not only doesn't pay great but it's not always family friendly hours which again causes issues. I'm at the point now where all I want is to cook healthy food for my family but now after 13 years together it's hard to convince my husband that this is a good idea between our marriage issues and putting him in the position to be the only income for a family of 6. I do not approach this from a religious standpoint necessarily but I do completely understand your outlook on being a wife and I highly respect your journey to come to that decision. It helps knowing I'm not the only one who not only feels this way but refuses to continue to feel this way.

Our stories are somewhat similar - but mine was pharmacy school … and I didn’t have the support at the time to be a homemaker. But I definitely felt that draw to be a homemaker and it defined the type of pharmacy roles I took. I still would have preferred to be a homemaker - but was blessed to be able to have a compromise option to work from home. I love to be able to teach the kids today that there are very viable options than being a career woman. Thanks for sharing!

I am new to bread baking… I started my sourdough starter Sunday using a pint jar, 1/4 cup of all purpose unbleached flour, a tbs of rye flour, and about a 1/4 cup of warm water. Left it on the counter for 24hrs and it didn’t really rise. But, I still discarded half and fed it 1/4 cup of the same flour, a tbs of rye and less than a 1/4 cup of water (warm?) it rose beautifully the next day (Tuesday). Discarded half and repeated the feeding process the same way. Wednesday, no rise. Repeated the discard and feeding process. Thursday, no rise. I transferred at this point to a new jar but only about 2tbs of the “starter”, and the fed it the same amount. Friday, no rise. I am super discouraged and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong..

Thank God I found your channel ❤ This was my second attempt at making a starter. The first attempt was done following the method of most KZbinrs/bloggers of equal ratio of flour to water plus had to use a scale (so tedious). I gave up on Day 7 after trying to troubleshoot it to no avail and decided I’d follow your method. It’s Day 2 and mine has risen to more than DOUBLE! The other failed starter did not rise at all so I’m excited for this one and praying I can bake with it in a few days 🙌🏾

I try not to talk about that side of things much because others immediately ask if you’ll go back to work and almost expect you to drop it all together. I also don’t know any other SAHM so hearing that I’m not the only one struggling is so meaningful. Thank you.

After my first I wanted to be home but after a couple of years I thought I wanted to work. That lasted a month and I was miserable. After that I went home and haven’t worked since. My daughter is now 18. I do help my hubby on our farm and homestead but I’m still on our home front and my kids have me here. I wouldn’t trade it. It goes by so fast. We had this conversation with our daughter last night about how feminism has damaged heavily the home. She tells her friends that she wants to be a wife and mother and not worry about a big college degree and such. She said people think she’s crazy but I believe God has put that desire in her and I’m trusting that it will come to pass.

I love the topic in this video. I believe that I fell into this trap also. Our society does not encourage young women or women in particular to be homemakers. I entrapped myself into becoming someone and tied to a profession. I am an older mom now but have grown children now. I can relate to being torn between staying home with my older children and working. It seems that women feel obligated to contribute financially and to have a career outside the home. That is my experience anyway. I have an elementary child now, and have left my nursing job and went back again... It is difficult to navigate the feelings of wanting to be home and homeschooling our child. The main interest is being at home and raising my son. I miss the financial and adrenaline that came with working as a nurse. The difficulties that come with making due with the funds we have and being good stewards of those funds. Our son is being schooled with our beliefs that protect his innocence and build his love for learning. I am learning and feel like I am equipped to teach and be the keeper of the home. Who else could teach and love my child as I do? My husband and I both were conflicted about me being at home. I always wanted to be at home, but society has not encouraged or supported this lifestyle. I am happy to hear that I am not alone. Thanks for the encouragement.

I always wanted to be a stay at home mom but live in Southern California and never thought it would be possible. We adopted two boys from foster care and quickly realized when we were dropi g them off at childcare before school at 7 in the morning and not seeing them again until after work after 6 at night we weren’t getting to spend time with our children and they needed more than that on top of needing more help in school. So we saved for about a year and made some changes to our lifestyle and now I have been a stay at home mom for almost a year. I worked in my career for 20 years. It was hard to let it go and still is an adjustment but it is so worth it! My kids love it and I am getting to know them in a whole new way.

Ladies there is joy and fulfillment in having a career AND being a mother/wife too. Doing both is hard. Staying home exclusively is also very hard. But there isn’t one right way. Just want to remind those of you watching this who may not want and desire to be home full time. The beauty of life is choosing the best thing for YOUR family. We’re all different people with different families. So happy you found your joy at all and were able to live out your dreams.

I can so relate to your story. I was a very successful OT student. I didn’t realize that most caregivers go into the medical field naturally. I worked the NICU. I grew up with my mom staying at home too. When my daughter was born, I wanted to be a traditional mom, but I married the wrong man to have that. We divorced and left me for poverty as a single mom. I divorced anyways and found a way to be a trad mom without a partner. It was a struggle, but eventually karma balanced itself out. Now I make 6 figures taking care of a disabled family member and I run the whole show. So I get to be successful at a career and get to be a stay at home mom too….💖 Anything is possible.
