You could talk about taking out the trash and I would watch the whole video. I just enjoy you so much! I'm going to try the Cosrx galaxtomytes next time I purchase from Ulta. I recommend the Biore UV watery essence SPF 50. Its from Japan. I order it on Amazon. It takes a while to get here, but it's almost like a lotion. Its my favorite sunscreen. I got the recommendation about 6 months ago from Reddit skincareaddiction. Im glad I decided to give it a try. I do hope you find an amazing sunscreen that works both for you and your budget!

Thanks for sharing your skin care routine! I am going to look into adding a vitamin c product to my morning routine! I’ve never tried marula oil but I have used organic 100% pure argan oil. It was a must for me this winter. My face felt so dry and this was the only product I had that I felt actually moisturized my skin. I finished the bottle but I will definitely be re-purchasing a new bottle before the winter.
@HannahLouisePoston

Unfortunately I haven't had the best of luck with argan oil! I think it has broken me out. Sad, because I hear such amazing things about it from other people. But marula is all I need :) I do recommend it.
@LisaDia14
@LisaDia14 6 жыл бұрын
It’s funny you say that! I tried argan oil a few years ago and shortly after, my skin broke out. And I thought it was the oil and said forget that and stopped using it. But this past winter, my face was so dry and no moisturizer that I had on hand helped. I decided to take a chance on possible breakouts and used the argan oil. Maybe my skin changed since previously trying it, but this time around I had no breakouts and it gave my skin the relief that it needed. It was an amazing difference and I finished the bottle without issue. I am interested in learning about marula oil though. I will definitely bring an oil back into my skin care routine for the winter.

I think you would really enjoy Elta MD UV Pure. It's spf 41, has a slight tint (but I think would be light enough for your skin), and it's moisturizing. Also all mineral broad spectrum and cost per ounce is really not bad.
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
a-HAH! People keep recommending the Elta Md Clear, but it has avobenzone in it. Maybe they are accidentally sending me to the wrong one. Good to know that Elta MD actually does have a chemical-free sunscreen. I'll check it out! Do you know if there's a brick-and-mortar shop that carries this, from which I might obtain a sample?
@Viennafly1
@Viennafly1 6 жыл бұрын
Well, UV Clear is great, too, honestly, but because it has octinoxate and zinc oxide, it's a combination spf and not purely physical. I think people might not know that octinoxate is an organic filter if they keep recommending it? But UV Pure is physical, as well as UV Elements (the tint will be too dark for you though in the latter). I recommend them a lot to my clients with sensitivity to organic filters. Elta is typically carried by dermatologists. I would call around or check out Elta's website. I am sure there is a derm in LA that carries Elta, and I am also sure they wouldn't mind you getting a sample from their office. Otherwise, Dermstore does have Elta MD and they have a good return policy. I know that's not 100% in keeping with your rules, but if you hate it (I actually doubt you will).... Another option you might like is the MyChelle Spf 50. Also all mineral, and you could bring in your own sample pot to Whole Foods and pump some out of the tester possibly.

Thanks for the eye patch recommendation! You might want to try the Farmacy Green Screen mineral SPF 30 (should be available to sample at Sephora). It sinks in quickly, can double as a moisturizer/primer, and hasn't irritated my sensitive skin. It's $36, which is a little high for the amount you get, but I don't mind wearing it which makes it worth the money.
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
I JUST came across this for the first time yesterday in a search! It's very high on my list to try. I'm going to get a sample as soon as I can. It's $36 for 1.7 oz, but my current sunscreen is $70 for 2oz, so it's almost half the price. I also like the squeeze tube packaging much better, and I think it will make it easier to use the right amount each time (I tend to take too much from the jar, I think).

I have tried loads of sunscreens (including VERY pricey ones) and even when I could find one that felt great going on, my skin always felt suffocated and awful even without makeup over the top. I prefer mineral sunscreen as well. I finally found a sunscreen combo I don’t avoid and that isn’t too pricey as a bonus. It’s the Elta MD mineral sunscreen in the pump bottle - the UV Clear SPF 46 ($28 on Premier Look). What I’ve added that I WILL NOT go without is the ColorScience 3 in one eye treatment that acts as an eye cream, a light concealer and has SPF 35. I use it as a lid primer also and it’s the first eye product I’ve found with decent level of SPF....strange since the skin around our eyes is the most vulnerable and first to show signs of aging. Colorscience website has 30% off through tomorrow, great time to take a look at it if your rules allow!

Farmancy and biossance both have a good SPF mineral sunscreen under the $40 range for 1.7oz I've been using the Murad oil contol SPF but I've been wanting to try something higher in SPF and not necessarily mattifying and seeing how my skin reacts to that (since I don't typically need as much mattifying and my skin can get dry in the winter) so I was going to pick up one of those two during the Sephora sale at the end of this month.

I've watched this during my morning routine 😃 Very relaxing. I also don't wash my face with any cleanser in the morning, but use a clay. It's in my morning routine from maybe a year and it works really well for me. Last year I was shocked how much lack of sleep can impact the skin. I had a baby and after a few weeks of poor sleeping my face aged so much. Fortunately, the changes went back, but I've been thinking in the bad moments that my youth is gone 😛 And I have to say it! Every time you have in your thumbnail that side hair I see Botticelli's Venus 😍 First time it was when I saw you on the thumbnail of full face using Modern Renaissance (and the theme suits perfectly to my vision 😃).
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
Ooh, clay. that's so interesting. I totally agree about sleep! The other thing that amazes me with its impact is water. Dehydration wreaks HAVOC on me. And that's so funny about the Venus! I do kind of identify with that lady :)

I'm crazy for La Roche-Posay sunscreens. I also use a Japanese chemical sunscreen (Rohto Moisture Milk) and it doesn't cause break outs, but you might be more sensitive than me. LRP and Avene both make nice mineral suncreens--I especially like the Avene one. Doesn't look like they have a mineral spf + moisturizer combo, but that doesn't really bother me as I use so many moisturizing products anyway, I don't necessarily need to get moisture from my sunscreen as well. As long as the SPF doesn't dry me out/break me out and feels light on the skin, I'm happy. So little to ask for, right? Lol. Good luck in your search!

This feels like the perfect time to ask, since you use so much night time products what kind of tips or ideas do you have about dealing with your pillowcase getting some of that product smeared all over it during the night? For the most part I think many products do come out in the wash, but what are your experiences? Edit: While Drunk Elephant is expensive ($100 CAD) for me, since I have very similar skin to you Hannah I'm tempted to give it a try. But will have to wait until a VIB where I can get it for the usual $80 you would buy it at.
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
Gosh, I never even worry about it! I kind of sleep with my face propped up off the edge of my pillowcase, so it usually doesn't get too messy. And Joe washes the linens once a week. I've never had anything stain, but our linens are charcoal grey, so I'm sure that helps.

Loved the video as always. Can’t wait to see what becomes of the sunscreen hunt because I am on the lookout for one too. I would also love to hear how you “trained” your hair to go 7-10 days without washing. I go 4-5 and would love to double that to the 7-10 days because I have color treated hair and dry ends, but oily roots. UGH. Thanks for being you; you’re an inspiration! This is great. I have a couple of questions since my daytime routine is about the same. I’ve been using a vitamin c serum from the ordinary (it’s one of their stabilized version)and I feel like it doesn’t “do”anything. Is a vitamin c serum supposed to have noticeable results? I use The Ordinary TLC aha/Bha at night and alternate with The Ordinary retinoid and lactic acid at night (poor girls Sunday Riley power duo). I’m tempted to try this C firma when I’m done. Do you use an eye cream? Do you reapply sunscreen? I’ve been trying to use a mineral sunscreen setting spray to reapply but I keep forgetting. I am adding the patches to my wish list, can’t wait.
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
Personally I think L-Asorbic Acid is a lot more powerful than the stabilized versions of vitamin c in skincare. But it's much harder to formulate, package and keep from oxidizing. The only ones I trust are C-firma and the Clinique Fresh Pressed Booster (but I haven't researched in it over a year, so there could be new ones that I don't know about). The one you have is probably doing something, it's just that the results may be less dramatic than you'd get with an L-asorbic acid. I use eye cream at night, but not in the morning. I don't re-apply sunscreen, that's part of why I'm so generous with it in the morning. The majority of my sun exposure is in the first half of the day, when I walk to downtown to write in a restaurant and then walk the rest of the way to work. By the time I leave my work space the sun is pretty low :) I'd re-apply if I was going to the beach or something.

@MsJudiXO
@MsJudiXO 6 жыл бұрын
You are my skin goals. I've been wondering, why do people wear vitamin c serums in the AM? I've only seen people put it on as part of their morning routine, not night time routine. Is there a reason or just preference? I don't know if you had a chance to check out Dr. Dray and what you think of her...I recently watched a video where she spoke about why she, as a dermatologist, doesn't believe in Vit C serums and their efficacy. I wanted to know your thoughts on that.
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
I think people believe that vitamin c can boost SPF and that it has protective qualities, so it's a good morning item. But it can be used at night, too, I just find it fits into my routine better in the morning! I haven't watched Dr Dray yet but I believe in my C-firma just because of having seen results. I've seen results with the clinique fresh pressed booster too. But I think that the vast majority of vitamin c serums on the market aren't really effective (for me it has to be pure L-Asorbic acid).

Hello. I am wondering if you know whether it is safe to use a vit C serum everyday? I have heard it's good to only use acids three times a week, and a vit c is technically an exfoliating acid. Curious to kno your thoughts on this because like you, I love my bit c and want to use it daily

Just wanted to comment although not enough to clear my skin, Since I stopped using cleansers and just rinse and use cotton and toner only on my T zone for exfoliation in my morning routine it has overall balanced my skin and reduced inflammation quite a bit. You have beautiful skin, and you do look like you are still in your early twenties. As someone who is (honestly) mistaken for being ten years younger than I am at almost 44, I can tell you that all this effort does pay off - especially cleansing at night and wearing SPF every single day. A guest at a recent wedding told me I looked 31! That was a good skin day! It’s not that I feel getting older and the mature beauty that comes along with experience and age is a negative. I love being an older-ish woman, I just *don’t* have good genes when it comes to aging, so any gains there have been strictly because of effort with skincare and my diet. I also need to find another daily sunscreen, because the one I love has oxybenzone and I want to get away from using it for many reasons. I haven’t found a mineral sunscreen that doesn’t show under my foundation yet. We are both on a hunt.

Being acne-prone, have you found that certain hair products break you out along the perimeter of your face?
@HannahLouisePoston
@HannahLouisePoston 6 жыл бұрын
I've never really thought about it, but I also don't use that much product in my hair. It could have happened from time to time and I just didn't realize? I think when I had bangs, the skin on my forehead was in a bit worse shape than it is now. But I also don't have very oily hair, and my hair is thick so it tends to absorb anything I put on it.

*IF* - and this is a big "if" - you want to dip your toes in chemical sunscreen again - I've found one that is a nice formula for me (I also have hormonal acne): Sun Bum Face Lotion. If you are worried about flash back from zinc oxide caked on the skin (like you are going to an event), it can be good to have a chemical sunscreen instead for just those specific occasions I, too, would prefer physical sunscreens for my face, but I have not found one in the range I'm willing to pay that doesn't feel creepy on my skin or make me even paler (same concerns you likely had before you found your pricey HG). Probably trying Australian Gold because of the recs I've heard.

Good to know! Right now I'm still hopeful of finding a mineral sunscreen that works, but I appreciate all recommendations.

If you want the best skincare in one step in AM and another in PM, look into Joyōme. I started it 2 weeks ago. I am 37 with dry skin and this stuff has done things for my skin I never thought possible in just a couple days.
