I prefer this quiet approach compared to the raucous yahoos from the south. It's very Minnesota Nice. Nice country, nice people. Those little pothole lakes in western Minnesota are fun. Not a lot of big boats, mostly canoes, kayaks, maybe a jon boat or two. Panfising for perch excellent too.

Matt, Nice to see you back on the water. The puff jacket is a sign of what is ahead. I went fishing two weeks ago and it was foggy and very coo, sweatshirt weatherl. I am fishing today and it is starting out in the 30’s to 40’s here in the northeast we have had a rapid cool down. I am hoping the smallies will be feeding up for winter. The last outing was a major grind. Your video inspires me to try top water. I will be in very deep water and shy away from topwater as a result. The rest of my fishing season will be on streams and skinny water rivers from the bank. I never fish a wacky worm or drop shot I am going to try both today thanks to your video.

My family used to have a lake cottage up north, right on the water, and in the mornings I'd get up, pull on some clothes, and just walk out to the dock, hop in the canoe, and paddle around in the mist and catch a few smallmouth just like in this video. Nothing has made me happier in my life than my family, but those mornings on an utterly still and quiet lake, just me and the smallies, would have to be a close second.

Hello NDYak, if you dont care to answer, what made you think to use a saltwater spook on freshwater fish? It looks like it sure is effective, opinions on if i should purchase it?
@ndyakangler5 жыл бұрын
They make a regular version of the redhead color too, I just like the saltwater one better because it has more detail and flash with the metallic scale pattern along the sides. The freshwater version is plain white and red. I saw the two side by side and thought the saltwater version looked much better and really the main reason I started throwing that color is because it shows up well on camera. I like to swap out the saltwater hooks for some made for fresh water though, the saltwater ones won’t rust out if a fish breaks me off and can’t shake the lure.

Do those swapped out hooks let it sink at all? Just curious
@ndyakangler5 жыл бұрын
Nope they won’t change the buoyancy at all. There’s a couple reasons why I swap the hooks out. For one I’ve always thought red hooks look like a blood trail in the water. The second reason, since I’m using a saltwater color of the spook it comes with saltwater hooks that will take forever to dissolve in fresh water. The fresh water hooks I replace them with will rust out in a week if I break the lure off in a fishes mouth and it can’t shake it.
