It's funny because as a pale person, sometimes the lightest shade is still too dark. The Morphe foundation range is the ONLY one I've seen that has a foundation LIGHTER than my skin - it looks light enough to be for an albino person (which is cool). So it's frustrating that they tried to be all invlusive but didn't work all that hard on the other end of the spectrum???
@samanthaweiss867

Same! I always have to use the lightest shade in a range and it's never light enough. I would try the morphe foundation, but my skin is very dry so matte is a no-go. I'm so saddened by the fact that there are no proper shades for Nyma and other women with her skin tone ☹️.

here’s the thing. you can make anything work. you are so talented and you, like many other poc, are trained to learn how to correct when there arent shades for them. but you shouldnt have to. you shouldnt have to settle with so many brands because all of the undertones are gray. its unfair and brands need to work harder to meet their demographic. you shouldnt be an afterthought or something brands pander towards or throw a few shades at and call it a day. obviously there are worse perpetrators than morphe, but every time i watch one of your foundation reviews i think the same thing. they should be working harder, not you.

Brown and black women tend to match to their face so that it is true to colour. She’s right it does feel like a mask when it is way to light or dark. When I match to my chest I look white and I refuse to give up my precious melanin just because certain makeup brands can’t get my shade right.

This is random, but I was just thinking. I love your videos so much Nyma, especially because they really shed light on the lack of inclusivity in the beauty industry. I, myself am extremely pale and I struggle to find foundations and concealers, but it is not impossible. It's clear that there is a lot less out there for darker skin tones. I would be so interested to see a video where you apply makeup side by side next to a woman closer to my skin tone (like porcelain) so we can get an idea of the shade ranges that should be put out. PS: there's a makeup brand that's sold in Walgreens and CVS meant exclusively for women of color and I've seen some very dark makeup that would probably work for you. It's called "black radiance". Would love to see you review some of their products!

If you're using zinc oxide for coverage instead of UV protection, TKB Trading has a decent amount of natural clays that offer coverage and adhesion. They have several brown shades so you wouldn't need to worry about ashiness from the zinc oxide.

60 shades and they can't manage to make a shade dark enough to match your face or even for girls who are darker? And the fact that half of the light and medium shades look exactly the same but there is still such a big leap between darker shades? Not cool. Everybody is trying to be Fenty, which is good because striving for inclusivity is amazing, but if your goal as a company is a large number instead of actually useable shades then thats benefiting no one.

Sophie Rice I find it hard to believe that there are that many if any girls walking around darker than her. Makeup products are for the average consumer and being real Fenty barely got here shade right initially if at all. I’m all for inclusivity, but morphe’s selling foundation to the world not to random outliers.

Sung Expression that is absolutely false. It's sad how deep the ignorance is... You go to Africa and there's a PLETHORA of women who are darker than Nyma and have different undertones. You would know we exist if companies actually acknowledged and catered to our complexions...We are literally an afterthought.

@@mzlareine1105 Yes, there are also people with blue-undertoned black skin (in some African countries and in India, as well). The ignorance that the majority of the people on earth is light skinned is ridiculous. Damn eurocentric standards.

VioletteOrdinaire like Fenty 498 was created for women like Khoudia Diop who is darker than Nyma... So yes, we exist!! And what's wild, is that that's not deep enough for some women! So an ignorant comment like Sung makes me upset because literally an entire complexion "category" of women are being alienated like we don't exist. Just because it's not common to see such deep complexion in US or Europe does not mean it's not common at all!

I think it's interesting how it doesn't look unnatural on you even though it's lighter because it makes your face very similar to the shade of your chest. Makes it look uniform in a way, so it doesn't seem out of place even though it it's lighter than your face. Just something I noticed.

I appreciate watching you because as someone who is in the fair category I never in my life realized that something as simple as makeup would be a problem for people of color. Like i never knew that people with a dark-deep complexion wouldn’t be able to find their shade and that’s so crazy to me. I for some reason just assumed that everyone could have an equal shot at finding the makeup that’s perfect for them and their skin tone. I’m only 21 now and haven’t been into makeup for that many years but it’s crazy to me that just now brands are becoming aware of this problem.... like... it should’ve been solved years ago. More people need to be aware of this and I’m glad youtubers like you are setting that foundation for progress in the makeup community ❤️❤️❤️❤️☺️☺️ I love your channel and you seem like such a sweet person 😁💜

I think almond-shaped eyes are great (though I'm biased cause I have them), especially since they are unique in an African person. They're good for wings if you know how to do them for your shape!
