Hailing from Cambridge MA, the self proclaimed "low rock" group Morphine were a dynamic part of the 90's alt-rock movement. The trios' distinctive combination of saxophone, double bass and drums merged with the vocal stylings of lead singer Mark Sandman to create a truly original sound. Morphine's most popular releases include the albums "Cure for Pain", "Good", and "The Night" which was posthumously released by Sandman's bandmates after his passing.

Totally agree. I loved them from the moment I heard Cure for Pain. It's Thursday, and I'm sending out that great tune to a few folks today. I love to turn folks on to great music. So sad, Mark passed away so young, he was destined to give us so much more.

Mark Sandman went out exactly as he would have wanted - on July 3rd 1999 he took that trip to the other side while performing on stage in Lazio, Italy. Buena indeed.

Morphine (the band) is simply... powerful. I am grateful to have experienced them live. The stage setup was ... no other words can describe ... just simple. The song conveyed the feeling, not the show. To any person or group listening: please just make powerful music. The power is from you, not how anyone else chooses to project or promote it.
