Kitana's status as General of Mileena's army is likely only the first step on a journey to greatness. Napoleon rose from soldier to sovereign. If Mileena eventually becomes the monster we remember, despite what we see in her now, Kitana will probably overthrow her corrupted sister before she ruins Outworld.

I understood the real reason why Kitana decided to assist her sister in becoming Empress instead of taking that position herself. Kitana in this timeline is a liberal, while Mileena in this timeline follows a more royal lifestyle but unlike her sister , she doesn't like to be constrained by the rules of royalty. In the story, Kitana behaves more naturally, she showing no signs of interest in the throne, when accompanying her sister during the visit to Sang Tsung's lair, she appeared to be very active in moving and interacting with other characters in that arc. It turns out that compared to sitting on the throne, going on expeditions, and carrying the huge burden of building and leading the nation, Kitana now does not like to be constrained by this position but wants to be more free to attack the battlefield.❤
