So not only is Takeda Kenshi's son, he's also Scorpion's student. In the MKX prequel comic that's like... loosely canon cause of some inconsistencies, it's established that Kenshi had a one night stand with a woman in Thailand while on a mission infiltrating the Red Dragon clan for the Special Forces. Years later, after his cover is blown, she's murdered in retaliation and Takeda is swiftly whisked away by his father and taken to Scorpion who had been resurrected and was rebuilding his ninja clan. Kenshi leaves him to be trained with Scorpion for years. This builds resentment in Takeda for his father who he didn't even know before his life was turned upside down. MKX shows us Kenshi's reappearance in Takeda's life as he intends to reunite with his son and destroy the Red Dragon and their leader. This, of course leads to a confrontation ending with Takeda beating his dad up and Scorpion having to intervene and reveal to him the fact that Kenshi disappeared without communicating again for a reason; to learn more about the Red Dragon clan and keep his son uninformed until it was time to strike and he was properly trained. After this point Takeda and Kenshi's relationship seemingly develops into a great father-son bond as Kenshi now takes his son to train him in their family ability: Telepathy! Yeah, being Scorpion's student and Kenshi's son isn't enough, he's also psychic lol Oh ALSO the teleporting is never explained. Like, he had a teleport move in X as well and there's just no explanation, you could maybe BS it that it's tech or something, but the real answer is that there is no answer and it looks cool lol Anyway, those are the details on Takeda and in my opinion he's always been the best of the "Kombat Kids" as the fans call them. It looks and sounds like he's the same Takeda from before the 11 to 1 reboot or at least similar, in that he's got the same voice actor, though he does have wrinkles under his eyes so he's likely been through some shit lol But yeah! He looks fun! He might actually make me re-download the game lmao

They will reveal their plans for second year of the game soon enough at comic con July 26th, most likely story dlc + there was no kameo shown cuz Ferra was the last one, she was already showcased in the last trialer but she got delayed to release with Takeda. Takeda was one of my mains back in Mkx, he did draw me in personally and I never knew why, I think it’s because I usually try to choose characters that aren’t used as much so people won’t really remember the characters move set but I really got attached to him. Seeing him back in a new game is so surreal, he looks amazing, sounds incredible, obviously to me very familiar and I cannot wait to play as him again.

In this New Era, Takeda is Kenshi’s cousin who was formerly in the Yakuza, too. He liked being one and was forced to kill Kenshi, but he lost to Kenshi (implied to be post-story, where Kenshi got Sento and Takeda didn’t have any powers/weapons) and almost died. Kenshi took him to the Shirai Ryu to get patched up and kept him there to keep him safe from the Yakuza. Takeda softened up because of the Shirai Ryu and learned their powers and skills (hence the fire powers on the weapons and teleport.) He’s now a vigilante trying to get revenge on the Yakuza/criminal underworld (probably will be more in-depth for his Tower Ending.) Takeda has the same VA from MKX and his playstyle is a combination of Lasher and Shirai Ryu variations (Shirai Ryu had the Scorpion teleport and the kunai, while Lasher was mostly whips) and his whips glowed before with some moves, but they’re on fire now to look cooler/to show that he’s more Shirai Ryu than before. As for the DLC, they announced that Year 2 will be talked about on their panel at SDCC on the 26th, which includes story, characters, and etc (Erica Ishii will be voicing a character and will be at the panel, along with Bi-Han’s VA.) Ferra is the last Kameo and she was delayed for Takeda’s release because of balancing (like how Peacemaker was delayed.) However, the Takeda release will also have a massive patch with Kameo changes and character balances (Frost, Sektor, and Cyrax all got new stuff, which was shown in the trailer and Sub-Zero and many of the low tiers are getting buffs.) There will also be a Kombat Kast for Takeda on the 18th, likely talking about the big patch with a breakdown on Takeda. Edited - Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reiko, and Smoke all seem to have plotlines for the future in their Tower Endings, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some will be connected to the DLC or MK2 (also, the main story’s ending seems to imply Titan Havik will be in the DLC or MK2, but most likely DLC.)

Takeda in the rebooted timeline was Kenshi's kid to a woman named Suchin would would be murdered in retaliation for Kenshi being a spy for the US Special Forces to infiltrate the Red Dragon crime syndicate. Kenshi has Takeda train with Hanzo Hisashi to take revenge on them and to protect Earthrealm from other threats he joins the Special Forces. He marries Jaqui Briggs but then the timeline becomes the new era. This time around, Takeda is Kenshi's cousin who is sent to kill him for betraying the yakuza but wishes to leave the life instead, only through more extreme methods than Kenshi does or would allow.

They may announce a story expansion later this month. They already confirmed they will do an event / showing up for some talks about MK1. Takeda is the LAST DLC from that Kombat Pack 1 so we may get (same as it was with MK11) another story expansion + a bunch of characters / new fighters being added to MK1.

I can say that it glad to see Tekeda looking more awesome and fluid in this game 😄 they surely did him dirty at the end of the game but glad to see his performance is swiftly in this gameplay. Also since you ask about the Kameo Fighter, it being Ferra but she is getting fixed till releasing when this trailer was in the making. So they use Skector, Frost and Cyrax in for Tekeda’s Kameo to show off the new moves they are carrying for this game 😉 So during this time, once EVO is going to be happening soon, there been some rumors that we might get a sneak preview of Kombat Pack 2 during the event with some new features to come. Finger cross there be a DLC story expansion coming with it.

The only character who's gameplay really was the most hyped in this kombat pack 1, don't get me wrong, Ermac and Homelander, gameplay are really great, and personally Peacemaker is better than both, but my main in MkX, Takeda was the ONE that a lot of people really where waiting the most for the looks, is a mash of both styles he had in Lasher and Shirai Ryu, sadly no lightsaber he had in his other style Ronin. I get that his character was not memorable in MKX story, but again Gameplay... HE WAS THE BETTER of all kids.

Personally, my order was Cassie, Takeda, Jacqui, Jin. Jin was difficult to play and had kind of a dull personality, Jacqui didn't do enough with her gauntlets and just was kind of there, Takeda is a badass all round, and Cassie while not quite as badass made up for it in humor, personality, development and I'm heavily biased towards pretty women on the side of good.

I usually separate some characters (personality wise or even story wise) from what they do with fatals. When they do nasty fatalities they are all sick and psychos 😂 But the nastiest (kiIIer) side of these characters you see it especially (or even mostly) in 1vs1 matches that are OUTSIDE the story mode. There are some kills even in the story mode too ..but they are rarely as nasty as these from 1vs1 matches / outside story mode. (well.. DVorah did a nasty fatal on Mileena in MKX 😄 but that was made by a villain. Good guys / gals from the MK stories rarely (or even not at all) do nasty sick fatals in the story mode. So for me it counts more HOW (some of) THESE CHARACTERS are in the story mode. That is for me their main version. The sick nasty side is often outside the story ..where you can do fatalities / brutalities too.

I love the interaction between Takeda and Johnny, cause it's a reference to MKX where Takeda was part of a team, the next-gen of MK characters. Featuring him alongside Cassie Cage (Johnny and Sonya's daughter), Jacqui Briggs (Jax's Daughter), and Kung Jin (Kung Loa causing I believe) and they were referred to in the community as the "Kombat Kids." The thing is that only Takeda was the only one that the fandomed liked while the other three were hated to some degree. So that's why only Takeda is here and maybe we will see more of him in MK 2 where we'll see if they change anything to his story. Cause originally he was Kenshi's son in MKX. But, from the sounds of things in dialogue interactions and one of the characters ending, it sounds like Takeda is a code name ie: Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Smoke where his actual name is Hanzo. Which is the interesting part is that the OG Scorpion's name is Hanzo Hasashi, and the Scorpion in this MK1 is Kuai Liang who was always the 2nd Sub-Zero in the franchise up till this reboot of the series. It's a little confusing so I hope I explained it well enough, but all in all, happy to see Takeda back cause he really should have been in MK11. But happy he's here now and he look awesome!

Takeda is not a code name. The official background info for Takeda officially released and you can find it on Eurogamer, where Kenshi and Takeda are cousins in this New Era and Takeda used to be in the Yakuza with Kenshi and was forced to try to kill Kenshi and Kenshi took him to the Shirai Ryu to get patched up and learned their skills/powers, to get revenge on the criminal underworld. Smoke’s ending revealed Hanzo is a kid and not related to Takeda, because Takeda is taken to the Shirai Ryu by Kenshi and that’s post MK1’s main story.

If you want lore for Takeda and other MK characters, I highly recommend the channels History Behind The Warrior and Don Critic. HBTW give history and character stories for certain individuals or groups and how they fit into the story. Don Critic more focuses on the story of the games and even gives some background knowledge on the company status and covers the ports of the games. Great reaction! Can't wait for more. Also I think NRS wanted to finish Kombat Pack 1 before they give DLC story but that's just my guess.

Honestly, I don't like his design here. He looks like Bumblebee from Transformers movies in all that black and yellow armor. Thus I think that his design could have been better. Like, probably a hi-tec ninja kind of design. Like ninja outfit with hi-tec armor on top. Also, here in MK1 Takeda is no longer Kenshi's son. He is Kenshi's cousin. And that is stupid because, their farther and son relationship was never evolved in MKX and further, because NRS never added them both in to MK11. So it is a wasted opportunity in the end, of showing their family relationship as father and son. I bet they gonna rewrite other kombat kids the same way and Cassie probably gonna be Johnny Cage's sister now. What a dumb idea honestly! Because again, they never showed those characters evolving because they never gave them a proper time.

Your reaction is amazing, but the trailer is not very good: it feels like Takeda is kind of slow and his animations were done reluctantly. Although I must admit that outwardly he looks better than many other MK 1 characters.
