Heavily agree. I'm glad more people are seeing the upside of how abrupt the ending to Khaos Reigns was to an extent, it feels like phasing out the multiverse stuff is the best choice to maybe conclude a final extra story mode part with something relating to the actual new era itself. Heck it could be a neat twist in itself like how Titan Shang was reintroduced, perhaps Onaga is so powerful he was never truly reset by Liu Kang but rather Onaga separated himself from his body, hence why its assumed this new Onaga is a mindless beast, and much like the original conspired major events to the New Era's downfall, or in his decieving ways he displays his classic mannerisms and behavior later having faked the whole beast aspect too. Possibilities are endless. Great video!

While I am very doubtful of a 2nd story DLC and I think MK1 is wrapping up production for NRS to focus on their next game, Outworld makes the most sense. There's a lot lingering threads from the arcade endings and it's easier to introduce other Outworld characters like Jade, Kotal, Sheeva, etc. If Onaga is the next main villain, it also would be a good way to set him up.

I honestly think if they keep releasing "episodes" like khaos reigns and occasionally sprinkle in some new characters (Jax, Sonya, Jade, Kotal, Erron, etc.) then we won't really need an mk2/mk12 for a while. If everyone stopped treating this DLC like the equivalent to aftermath and treated it like just another batch of chapters in an overall story I believe more people would find enjoyment in it. My only real complaint with khaos reigns is the price, but realistically WB will probably just do 1 more DLC and move on because a majority of people are unhappy.

I despise the idea of lowering expectations when they charge 50$ for the dlc. If we're going to do additional story stuff it should be well done and at least be satisfying to go through. The story shouldn't be coming off as rushed/half baked. People should absolutely be comparing it to aftermath because that's the bar of quality in DLC story that they set. There's not really any special circumstances around aftermath creation to warrant breaking out the kiddie gloves when looking at chaos reigns

Just about any fighting game campaign you play is locked to It’s roster. Also, what do cyrax and sektors armor have to do with the timeline WWII Johnny came from? So many of your points are just meticulous nitpicks, including how you just couldn’t help yourself but correct my numbering typo of all things. They really tried to re capture the magic of MK9. Just remaster it already. I recently made a deep dive video of X360 as the last great gen (hope I'm wrong) and when capturing the footage, I re-visited MK9. I'm in awe how amazing it is. The story mode - which serves as a reboot - is great, better than the 2020 movie we got. Maps, outfits are such a tribute to the arcade MK's from the 90's we grew up with.

If you ask me personally, what I think is next is Shao Rebellion with Onaga fully realized. This was even teased when Mileena was talking in Khaos Reigns. I think that’s what’s next. Hopefully that time the bad guys can get some chapters. Shao, Quan Chi, And whatever other characters come in as dlc. EDIT: seeing more of the video, having Onaga in the dlc I think would great. I get that he deserves his own game, but hear me out…what if the bad guys win? It’s not totally out of the picture because in MK11 Shao, Sindel, Shang Tsung we’re tearing everything up in Aftermath. I wanna see that here in MK1. Give Shao a chapter, give Quan Chi and Reiko chapters. It could work.

My Storymode Expansion: Kenshi & Jax's trainees: Sonya, Kano, Stryker & Kabal r given a mission. Kano betrays them with Kabal & kills Stryker. Sonya gets captured & Jax saves her. Johnny Cage's movie gets done filming. Mokap gets attacked in his dressing room. Johnny saves him. They meet up with FG Liu Kang. They meet up with Shang Tsung for some help. Meat joins them. Liu Kang asks Kai to help them. Mokap, Jax, Takeda, Meat & Kai travel to outworld. Mileena makes them fight to prove themselves worthy of their help. They fight Kotal, Sheeva, Countess Jade, Kintaro & Kitana with Khameleon as her partner. They win & Kitana helps them. With Kotal & Jade. Kotal sacrifices himself for Jade. Kano & Kabal have formed the Black Dragon with members like: Tremor, Tasia & No Face. No Face accidentally burns Kabal & they retreat. Kitana, Sonya, Jax, Kano, Mokap & Kai get chapters.

I still think that they will stick to the multiverse invasions stories and save the more in-world problems for the next game. Yes some of the arcade endings will be addressed similar to Sub-Zero and Scorpions. But I think the big ones like Reiko and Gen. Shao's endings will probably be saved for the next game. As for what I would like to see for a third story is something I have said several times on other channels and that is a group invasion of Titan Shao Kahn, Titan Sindel, Titan Kitana, Titan Mileena, Titan Skarlet (Skarlet being one of the new characters) and Titan Reiko. In fact I came up with a backstory for it and that is after Shao Kahn defeated Kronika and become the new titan he realized much like Liu Kang did that in doing so he technically no longer had his family as he knew them because they all became their own Titans. So he started to invade the other timelines looking for his family and either that is why he is in Liu Kang's timeline or after he gets is family back together to finally take down one of his biggest threats to his plans which is Titan Liu Kang. As for how this will connect to the in game Arcade Endings is maybe some of the family members of Shao Kahn.

As much as I would love to see it, I don’t believe we will see the Special Forces, Black Dragons, Red Dragons, The Outworld War, or Onaga in another expansion, it wouldn’t do justice to the game as it feels like those elements are planting the Seeds for the Future and it would involve more than 3 or 6 MK Characters, the only solution to a 3rd MK Expansion would honestly be Shang’s Island, really think about it, Dialogues are hinting that like Crazy, it could make Quan a Main Villain, it would close the Chapter to Shang Tsung as he needs to get out of the way to give Other Characters to Shine, we could see Clones, and if the Well of Souls is Similar to Shang’s Palace in MK Deadly Alliance, perhaps it will end with Onaga making a Entrance like the Opening in Deception.

If there is another story expansion (consumer reception of MK1 as a whole at this point has me skeptical of its future), I just want NRS to steer clear of the Multiverse timeline they've been mucking around with and just make a standalone story arc in Liu Kang's verse. Truthfully, I don't care where the story goes...Whether it be introducing the Special Forces With Jax and his GF Jacqui and/or Sonya and her little sister Cassie, or dive head first in a Tekunin storyline with Frost being the protagonist, I don't give a fuq. DLC Idea: Copy and pasted from a reply I made to another person on a different vid but it applies here to what I think a good idea for a story expansion or whatever could be: Following the crumbling of countless timelines under Titan Havik, his timeline now becomes a "broken" point in the universe where all timelines destroyed and erased ended up there as a hodge podge of a space between timelines (for some reason, just go w/ it) and various other champions, ninjas, and fighters now search for a way home. On their journey they learn of how various timelines were reset, and how things have drastically changed the course of history, writing them out, or never even giving them a chance. This is my version of invasions pt2 maybe, it could be what going on in the background of the real invasions, but anyway fannon/unnoficial and forgotten characters are revealed such as Khrome, Ruby, Hydro, etc. and its follows them and how they seek to be a part of a timeline (ex: Hydro learns of what the Lin Kuei are like without them, Ruby learns about what Jax has been up to and what it would be like for them to have never met, she also learns of Jaqui. They also see how other characters got "luck" and how the timelines accepted them, think of how Ermac and Skarlet became a part of MK, and they wonder why it was, and why they were cast out, as well as what could have been). It's essentially Deadpool & Wolverine but Mortal Kombat. I've been thinking about this for a while and really want to see something like this happen. Thats really interesting, I could see that happening as like a what if scenario, speaking of, I really wish Mortal Kombat's "invasions" was more of like Marvel's "What If..." and it functions as a Mortal Kombat 0 where it follows Liu Kang, Geras, and maybe even mortal Raiden as it explores them creating the new timeline and using the hourglass to see possible scenarios and outcomes to learn from it as to not repeat past tragedies, as well as give us incite as to how a timeline is actually created and their thought process for where the characters are now and explain some of the changes in the new timeline, like Kuai now being subzero. Then we can get a spin off for the very first mortal Kombat tournament where we see at the end of MK11 Aftermath Liu Kang preparing The Great Kung Lao and we can get to see how the new characters grow into their roles, Shao pushing past his infirmities and the beginning of the Lin Kuei, we can also see how young Mileena and Kitana's childhood developed w/o a bitter hatred towards one another, or how the Lin Kuei began protecting Earthrealm, how Shao decided to adopt Reiko, or how Liu Kang delt with Raiden's eventual death, maybe they both decided that the new Raiden should be a mortal this time, and have powers that could be taken away. Maybe it was Raiden's idea because of how we saw his future dark self. We could also get an episode on Liu Kang realizing that such power would drive him mad, so he gives everyone a chance to choose their own destinies, but Geras knows that this may come back to bit him later so he seals his power inside the jade dragon and doesn't tell him because he knows he might be tempted to regain that power, but he still keeps it in case the need may arise.

I think they need to do a second multiverse expansion that by the end of it, will make it so there can't be any incursions from other timelines; that way we know it is wrapped up with MK1 and the next game can be Onaga or something. I feel like the ending for DLC 1 was too abrupt and anti-climactic to be the end of the story for this game; as for who could be a big bad after the wet fart that was Havik; I think Dark Raiden would be perfect; it would be a nice balance with how Raiden is the new Liu Kang of this timeline, and also would be a nice payoff for what we should have gotten after the ending of MKX. I don't think the Special Forces would be an interesting enough draw for a DLC, unless they have some threat other than Outworld to deal with; because Shao isn't that big a threat and Mileena isn't going to invade Earthrealm, so I don't see a way forward with that. Black and Red Dragon clans as threats could work; and would probably add Kira and Kobra as Kameos, which I know some people (not me) want. Also the game isn't a soft reboot of the timeline; it is a hard reboot; a soft reboot doesn't actually go out of it's way to explain it's a reboot.

I didn't like this dlc so much, I think the story was very rushed and plat. I believe the next dlc will toy around some mortal kombat between timeless to prevent from one time line invade another, but to be honest, it sounds ridiculous so I hope I'm wrong

Honestly this idea of yours is not ridiculous at all. Rather great actually. MK is already fucked by the multiverse bs and this is the only way to even slightly tap into the roots of MK. Plus with all the different timelines it would be a great chance to bring back Kreate-a-Fighter (my beloved). The only problem is who's gonna enforce the rules of this new tournament

@steelbear2063 the reason why I'm saying it's ridiculous it's because they need a good way to turn it into a good story, even if this is the loop hole that they intended all along to get them out of this multiverse mess. Maybe some council of titans, like the elder gods were could enforce it, Onaga, or even the One Beign, the question is how would they make a good story out of it. I had very high expectations from Titan Havik but I was disappointed eventually.

Titans displaced the Elder Gods in their role, Elder Gods displaced regular gods, regular gods became whatever. I've been disappointed long before the multiverse. My point is : there's no hope for a good story, but there's hope for some remedy

Aftermath honestly had the better story. Since it included not just the characters it had, but also the previous DLC pack. It really stunk that you didn't get a Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda chapter. Also Tanya got TWO CHAPTERS? That first one should have been a Kitana chapter.

The storymode is pretty much the only reason i play the mk games. I love story building and learning about the world. But this felt so empty and boring. There weren't really any interesting lore details to take away, it was just a cash grab multiverse story , maybe to sell extra skins. Whatever it was, i hope they switch gears and actually make a good interesting and engaging story.

They should just stop with the DLC stories. The main story and the DLC story straight up sucked! IDK WhyTF they changed the MK timeline. It was fine just the way it was. If it's not broken then DON'T FIX IT! They turned Noob in to B*$@#, No Sonya Blade, New Scorpion, etc etc etc. I liked the Subzero arc in the main story but that's it. The rest sucked!

Both stories kinda suck. Hated the ending. Like MK9, mk1 is NOT a reboot. I'm desperate for this franchise to reboot and get new writers coz I'm just about done with this game and it's underwhelming story modes sadly and as for the special forces.. it's mortal Kombat not call of duty. Keep it MK and do it properly 🐉
