Canonically, Shang Tsung has more often than not been associated with Snake Kung Fu. In this video, he seems to be using a hybridization of snake and tiger style... With trapping and joint locks commonly seen in wing chun and jeet kune do.

I used mostly Chinese Martial Arts for this choreographed fight . Some Snake , Hung Gar , 7 Star Praying Mantis and for kicks we had to alter the throw to more a traditional Japanese style Aikido throw due to Motion Capture restrictions and the Performers safety. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!

Shang Tsung seems to practice serpent-style martial arts...sharp jabs & precise strikes...appropriate since he summons a fire serpent (and he's a snake). Then he grapples and twists his enemies strikes against them...reflecting his tricky nature. Finally, he dodges with elegant, almost bored, ease...demonstrating his superiority & class. Truly, his fighting style matches his character perfectly.

Cyborgs still have brains and spines so, they need robotic neck to keep themselves alive. Shang Tsung cut the other cyborg spine in half so that's what we are seeing

2:49 I mainly enjoy MK11's story because of the epic battle scenes, like the clash between Kotal and Shao Kahn or this scene with Geras fighting Nightwolf, Fujin and Shang Tsung. 4:20 I even laughed at the fact that Shang Tsung just sent Geras to Chaosrealm to get messed up by Havik, just makes you imagine the horrors of what he's doing to a guy who can't die.
