Mortal Kombat 4/Gold had some ridiculous character endings, all unique, all insane. No matter how serious or jokey these endings were, we still loved them growing up. Well here they all are, all 21 of them as shown on the Dreamcast, on an original CRT.

The beauty of MK4 / MK Gold was that the game never took itself very seriously; they knew it was a game to have fun and to mess around with the plots, unlike later games that turned the story into a Marvel movie ripoff

I can understand all the hate around MK4, but Fatalities, music, atmosphere and overall game design is epic. I love the game since childhood, the only things I don’t like are stupid 3-hit combos and toasty fatality where opponent doesn’t turn into a skeleton.

I will always feel MK4 is underrated, I still ay it on N64. Lots of fun. I know its not the best of the series but to be fair here every longrunning fighting game IPs have their flops or disappointing games afterall. The endings are fun in MK4. I actually miss the FMV endings, the whole still images with voice overs is a bit lazy imo now days.

I played a lot of MK Gold on Dreamcast back in the fall of 1999. It was a lot of fun. It looked and felt like a true arcade port of MK4 with extra characters and stages. While it isnt the best MK game by far its a lot of fun. When I get a Dreamcast again one day I will definitely get a copy of this again. Until then MK4 on Playstation will do just fine. Me and friends use to laugh at these endings all the time. Good memories!

Seeing it on the CRT is so cool 🤩 thanks for the effort of recording it all. Even though I've seen these before the atmosphere of this is different. Imagining yourself in the room with the lights off finishing the game.. And I have a soft spot for 4/Gold as someone who doesn't play the games themselves too much but loves the lore etc. I'm sure MK4 was not beloved at the time making the jump from 2D. In playthroughs and endings I've watched I think it's a worthy successor to the story. It's still dark, still kinda spooky, nothing really upbeat about it. Introducing a new villain was going to be tough to live up to for Shinnok. Gameplay-wise he failed although I like the direction this took the game that Deadly Alliance built on. It all flowed really well up until Armageddon threw everything out imo (much like Trilogy and MK11 I get the feeling they were done with trying to think up new ideas)

Was Gold released in Japan? I found a dreamcast for $5 in a thrift store. It works, but it was made in Japan. I can't find a Japanese copy of Gold anywhere online.

Mk4 wasn't too bad of a game in arcade. The first arcade I've beaten. I guess Goro in mk4 was only for home consoles. The arcade was just as fun. Ps1 mk4 game was like arcade feeling vibes.
