@@spa2damax His job is cinematographer, a camera operator and Camera Assistants is a completely different position. For those who don't know a Cinematographer, is often in charge of the Gaffer who works with the Key Grip, Art Department, his AC's (the camera assistant's), DIT and the Camera operator. A Cinematographer or a DP doesn't need to know the technical inner workings of a camera. They position and in charge of movement of the camera. The Cinematographer works with the Grips, Electric and Art to achieve this. The DIT is the one in charge of the media, it's in his job title "Digital Image Technician".

The Raiden laugh was totally an expression of how he didn't think they could possibly win so much that it made him laugh, then he remembered he was talking to the people he thought would lose. Campy, yes, but completely explainable and correct for the scene.

Guest episodes are good for exactly the reason that it throws the chemistry for a loup. It's so awkward and weird and Linus is such an interupting dick sometimes (❤️ love you Linus) that it's a good break from The usual usual.

Downloading from the carpoolcritics.ca site now and subscribed here. Totally did not know that you guys were not in the same room for this cast when i just listened to it. Great job on the audio setups for all. Great sound quality and no audio delays with each other. Another reason for me to look forward to thursday/friday at work for new episodes. Christopher Lambert got the role of Raiden because he was a fairly big star at the time in the late 80/early 90s and he's the highlight of the entire movie by far. If anyone can't appreciate him as Raiden then they need to watch Highlander.

Im only 50 mins in. But, linus keeps saying that anything anyone else says doesn't matter cause the movie is bad, and that they should just turn off their brains and enjoy it. But that is a frustrating argument to listen to, because the point of the whole podcast is to discuss a movie. So shutting down everyone and saying to just enjoy the movie for its badness is kind of like against the whole point of the podcast. Otherwise, I enjoyed it. Its fun to listen to the rants about bad scenes.

Questioning whether this movie was self-aware or not is like asking your waffle its opinion on Freudian psychology. It was made to sell tickets to 13 to 18-year-old American boys, and that's it. If you are not a teenage boy in the year 1995 you will most likely think this movie is garbage; and I do mean "are" not weren't.

So at one point Johnny Cage would have been the main character, JCVD (that's Jean Claude Van Damme for you youngins) was meant to play him as the video game character was also supposed to be him. However they never got the rights to his likeness so he just became a parody instead. Then when the film was being made JCVD was already signed on to do Street Fighter and could not be in this. Oh what could have been... Also Christopher Lambert (you guys should do Highlander) could barely speak English. I doubt he even knew what was going on in the movie half the time.

Hello guys love the show, ihave a couple points. 1. I am shocked that you dont know Cristopher Lambert, the immortal dude of 90's movies. I mean he is the HIGHLANDER dude. 2. Shao Kahn invaded eternia killed the king then took Sindel (i think she is a sorcerer too, see 2 nd movie) as his wife to open portals illegally across realms to transport his army (or something). In that way kitana is his adopted daughter.

I watched Home Alone with my nieces and nephews last year and they all loved it, so it may just be that your kids have different taste. I’m a bit younger than Linus but I loved hook growing up and the princess bride. I think it’s just your kid’s tastes.

22:07 'this is a kids movie' when this films was out i was going over friends every weekend to play on the saga megerdrive or snes, drink pop and eat as much snacks as i was able to get with £1 + maybe rent a VHS from the shop. 45:54 the film was made before the internet, no one had any idea what was going on past 'fight' (music kicks in) 51:20 around the handover of HK to china a lot of the HK martial-art's/film people started to get out and move to Holywood. there's some relay fun documentary's on the history of HK cinema and it's later influence on western cinema. google 'Yuen Woo-Ping' he's one of the pivotal choreographers that shaped fights in modern western films. he worked on the matrix, it's one of the pivotal points where they started to use the HK style of wires for fights just with a tad more polish and budget. before the matrix Holywood was not willing to use wires in the HK style. 55:00 for example of how video game films where seen look at the mario one, the star was so depressed by how bad of a film it was he was drunk on set most the time. MK was a B film, it's something that is gone now. even TV shows have bigger production's now, times have changed. 57:32 the resident evil films where made for a German tax loophole 58:52 the film industry has changed a lot over time, B films used to be an active market with small company's like 'cannon films' and 'orion pictures', in the 80's & 90's a lot of the small studios went down and a lot of the big ones merged. today we are seeing a lot of change with players like netflix and amazon making tv and film, with new formats. just need street fighter to balance this out. as a kid watching it on VHS the film was epic, not sure now.

Technically, all the Earth fighters are "protagonists". But Liu Kang is the team leader and Raiden's ace fighter! Johnny Cage is just "the comical relief", in both games and movies. That's why he had a "larger" script...

The Johnny Cage inspiration comes more from Bruce Lee than Jackie Chan. Bruce Lee’s irl plot was more similar - but he began a master and built a movie career not to prove he could fight but to show Kung Fu / Weng Chung supremacy. Jackie (while amazing in his own right) followed in Bruce’s footsteps, changing the vision to bring real martial arts to westernized movie plots, where Bruce’s vision tugged more towards evangelism for the martial sect within the Kung Fu / Action movie genre (think Rambo and terminator as opposed to casino royale - yes a large time shift, but a similar one exists between Bruce and Jackie’s careers)

I like this movie, It’s a cult movie mostly because of the themesong ;) but this WAS more cashgrab then serious, I'ts pg13 and for kids who played the games.. MK was pretty big (in US) after the first 2 arcades, so making a movie made a lot of sense and they topped the box office and grossed alot. Robin Shou (Liu Kang) and Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Shang Tsung) was spot on casting for their roles in my opinion. Van Damme did Street Fighter instead of playing Johnny Cage and Cameron Diaz was originally cast as Sonya Blade. The fights wasn't all bad.. Bridgette Wilson (Sonya) dislocated her shoulder in Sonya vs.Kano fight. Linden Ashby (Johnny) pissed blood after kicks to his kidney in the Johnny vs. Scorpion fight and Robin Shou broke his ribs in the Liu vs. Reptile fight. And the last two fights was added after the movie was done. Looking forward to Mortal Kombat (2021) can we hope for a R rated movie this time.. MK is supposed to be brutal, I'am 30+ now I'm ready :D
