How does the emitter evaporate all the water in the water lines instantly, but not the people on the streets that are 70% water? If the drug is released by evaporating water and they've been putting the drug in for weeks, has no one boiled any water or taken a hot shower for weeks?

The biggest logical plot flaw in this movie is in my opinion the microwave "weapon" and its main purpose to evaporate water. Nolan totally ignored the fact that the human body consists of ~70% water. So...when all the water in the water pipelines evaporates...why didn't the water in all the citizens & animals evaporate as well or at least heat up over 42°C, so that all the protein in humans & animals coagulates and turns them into hard boiled eggs... I makes no sense. P.S. More sense would perhaps make a really powerful ultrasonic vaporizer.

The thing about the "swear to me" scene is that's exactly what batman is like in the comics. When he's interrogating someone, he is INTERROGATING them and that scene is so on-point!

Regarding Bruce's dad's final words, honestly, I consider what we see of that scene to be what Bruce remembers. While it could be a means of taunting Bruce later on, Carmine Falcone mentions that Joe Chill said that Bruce's dad "begged like a dog". I think Bruce ultimately remembers his dad the way his dad usually was, and I think his high opinion of his dad prevents him from seeing his dad in a position of weakness as Carmine Falcone / Joe Chill would've claimed. That whole flashback to Bruce's dad's death just doesn't feel real, and I think that's intentional. Also, can we get a Father of the Year award for Bruce's dad for him taking Bruce to an opera show about gigantic bat creatures right after having a father/son talk about Bruce's fear of bats?
@kubev

I'm finished watching, so I have two final things to mention: 1) Ra's al Ghul mentions at some point that Gotham is so corrupt that the League of Shadows has worked itself into pretty much every aspect of the city's operations. I can't remember the exact phrasing. With that in mind, Ra's had good reason to track Bruce down, as Bruce was of such potential importance within Gotham in any capacity, but his company also would've provided so much in the way of resources (both in terms of money AND equipment/technology/weapons). The fact that he was at a point of weakness made Bruce an even more valuable target, as Bruce would've had so much interest in improving Gotham. Unfortunately for Ra's, Bruce's vision for the improvement of Gotham didn't align with his own, and that's why things fell apart. 2) I love the fact that the title card for the movie doesn't appear until the very end of the movie. At the beginning, you do get a Batman logo of sorts as bats fly across the screen, but the words Batman Begin don't appear until the very end, kind of serving as the true beginning of a Batman who knows his true path forward.

This movie is a hit. It's an instant classic. I understand people can nitpick the movie all day but go back and watch the first 2 Tim Burton Batman Movies. They are absurd in comparison. Michael Keaton's "Bruce Wayne" hangs upside down (an actual shot from the movie). Batman Returns opens with criminals attacking the city (easily 20 bad guys, if not more). Batman shows up in his Batmobile fights of 2 badguys and saves the day. Seriously, that's all he does and the rest of the bad guys apparently just disperse. The comparison to this movie is night and day. Clearly the best Batman movie up to this point. The knit picking is ridiculous, just try and going back to watch the originals and set the nostalgia aside. Credit to these guys for all giving a grade 8 or above out of 10.

Also, the gun's lift weight limit likely applies to its ability to reel itself in while supporting that weight. Batman fires it into the train, so it's the pull of the train that's assisting in pulling Batman out from under the people, with the only other concern really being the cable strength. Once he's free of the people (which is almost immediately because of the motion of the train), he can then retract the cable again without concerns about the weight limit.

A few questions about your Bruce Wayne and casting discussion (I love Batman Begins, in case it wasn't obvious.): 1) Was Christian Bale's performance as Bruce Wayne any better/worse for you for having seen American Psycho? I think the two roles could almost be interchangeable for him. 2) Christian Bale lost a LOT of weight (consuming only 200 calories a day, losing roughly 55 pounds over the course of four months to end up at 120 pounds) in preparation for The Machinist. He ended up having to gain even more weight back in preparation of Batman Begins. (It's also funny to think of how much he had to gain for his role in Vice.) 3) I love the part when Rachel realizes that Bruce is Batman. I don't generally care much for superhero movies, but those are probably among my favorite types of scenes in movies. The train scene in Spider-Man 2 is another favorite of mine.

In the ice scene, I think some of it could be lost with a poor audio setup, but you should be able to hear the sound of ice cracking throughout that sequence. While Ducard tapping on the ice to break it is clearly intended for comedic effect, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that the ice could've broken at any time beyond that point, especially since Bruce was doing nothing to distribute his weight across the surface once he stood up from his slide across the ice to the thinner portion of it.

Rachel received a "concentrated dose" of the drug. That's the only reason she was more at risk for dying directly from exposure to the drug. The plan to release the drug into the air was intended to make the city "tear itself apart" as a result of everyone hallucinating and attacking one another. That effect would've worn off over time.

One of the crucial legacies of this movie, which Marvel took to heart in their formula, was having a major villain whose plan is the main focus and a secondary villain that helps advance the plot.

Hey Guys, Love your show, very informative and also funny. At the end of this one you mention Zack Snyder and his handling of the DCEU and other comic book adaptations, I agree he shouldn't have been the one to carry a movie franchise /universe. However, I appreciate his approach to filmmaking. I encourage you guys to watch his first feature, Dawn of the dead (2004). I believe this is still his best movie and his style lends well to a zombie film. I had high hopes for Army of the Dead (which wasn't great) and fear his time spent ruining the DCEU may have forever changed his style.

I will always say that the "Swear to me" line has a ton of wasted potential in delivery, on two fronts. 1) That he (Batman) interupts so quickly that you barely get time to process the "I swear to god" line, but also that is almost just makes it sound anticipated. 2) That Christian Bale puts so much aggression into every part of his delivery that you get almost no empahsis on the "Me" part of it. This means you lose a lot of the value of this interaction and what should be a clearly delivered "-I- am your god now, so swear to me." intent to the line instead becomes muddled.
