Yes, and so did The Munsters. And The Beverly Hill Billies. And The Bradys. The Cleavers. The Partridge Family. The Lawrences (from Gidget). The Cunninghams. Even the Castaways on Gilligan's Island supported each other. TV families were all about support and understanding because things were changing at that time, and not for the better. Many creatives at the time were aware of this and showing how families could be was helpful to many people. Including young people and children who were having a hard time and/or needed advice. This is why these shows, and Mr Rogers' Neighborhood, Sesame Street, and those kinds of shows were extremely important

It is fine to say they remind me of my autism they need to look into full diagnosis to see what they have it might be autism but it could be. Wednesday lives in a very different culture and thus has adapted a very different personality this does not mean she autistic. She handles high input distracting problems well and thus if autism it light. Most characters people guess currently as autistic actually way more likely to be ADHD as folk with it can shine in high stress chaos like fighting because it stimulates but can resemble Autism in normal life because excitement missing and coping strategies that resemble other disorders.

@@Meli_monster Exactly. They were morbidly weird, but that weirdness was their normal and they were confused by everyone else. But where the "normal" people feared or looked down on them, the Addams always treated them kindly. I know some of that is the santitary nature of tv at the time, but it was a breath of fresh air. As you said, even the 90's movies the family were largely kind people. Wednesday was sharp and not a pushover in the way her parents were with their kindness, but she wasnt (usually) needlessly cruel. She was sarcastic and dryly witty, but not hateful. One of my favorite OG moments is when Mr. Addams is asked why he hasnt put the kids in school and he's confused because why have kids if you dont want to spend time with them. Which I think is a good summation of the core family value they had. They all liked and respected one another.

What I love about the Addams Family is how supportive they are. Like on the Wednesday show if Wenclair does becomes canon Enid would be the luckiest girl in the world and I can see Gomez give Wednesday dating advice cause she is her father's daughter after all!

My favorite version of the Addams Family. No one has ever beat their balance of whimsy and absolute incomprehension that they’re the weird ones.

Good points all. But I disagree about the weird part; I always found the Addams to be the most normal family. The rest of the world is weird.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who heard "misfires." I was like, well, a misfiring firearm would be an interesting topic for that crew....

“Why at 38 would I want to make it look like I’ve never laughed in my lifetime?” is a perfect message. If we’re privileged to live long, we will get old and that’s a blessing. ❤

Love it. I dont know about black being a happy color, BUT its a color that anyone can pull off nicely. I say this because 1/3 of my closet is black clothing.😂
