I personally prefer the idea that Ultramarine descendants are just likely to absorb their recruitment planets culture and we have confirmed Ultramarine descendants chapters like the Emperor’s Spears who have man eaters among them so the Mortificators are not out of place.

Amidst the decorations in their monastary, there is a relic of Holy Terra itself. A portrait of the Emperor, circa m1, 988. Historiphants argue that the Emperor wasn't alive yet, nor did He adorn himself in neon colours. But the Mortifactors would not be swayed. They knew him to be the true.. Ultimate Warrior.

The Mortifactors Chapter is cannibalistic and superstitious, two traits that could deem them heretical. Guilliman must only tolerate the Mortifactors because they are loyal to him.

I bought my first box of intercessors just to paint these warriors. They along with The Doom Eagles, Obsidian Jaguars, Iron Snakes, Silver Skulls and Black Consuls are some of my favorite successor chapters.

Whenever I see mishapen and poorly drawn astartes helmets, my head canon in universe reason is pretty fun. I like to believe that there is a manufactorum out there that kind of just fucks up once in a while, but they do not reject the helmet since it was determined to be the will of the omnissiah/machine god. The chapter gives this blessing to the most insufferable initiate if they ever make it to become a battle brother.

The Mortifactors are an example of how the divergence of cultures within the Space Marines Former Legions can become a unique aspect for growth within different chapters of the same linage. Though chapters from the both the Blood Angels and Space Wolves could be linked to their flaws and make a point of true pride within the chapters and link them with other chapters of the same linage, however the Ultramarine Legion didn’t create a core aspect to their Legion later chapters be reminded of their heritage and origin.
