Southbound on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway, Boya Lake, Hyder and the Salmon Glacier | Go North Ep 19
This episode takes us south down the Stewart-Cassiar highway number 37 from northern BC. Along the way we explore the tropical blue Boya Lake and the famous Jade City. At the south end we hopped on highway 37A out the the coast at Stewart British Columbia. From here we make the southern most land crossing into Hyder Alaska where we explore the Fish Creek Observation Site before we drive up to the stunning Salmon Glacier.

Great series thank you. I stood over Salmon Glacier in 2016. I rode a trike motorcycle up to it. 6 weeks-Memphis to Fairbanks, Alaska etc. I have told many people that standing over the Salmon Glacier is the greatest site I have ever saw. I entered British Columbia early June; most mountain tops still had snow art covering their sides-spectacular. I highly encourage people to take this trip

Welcome back! What a nice surprise for a Monday night! The colors of Autumn with that beautiful water and the contrasting colors of green and rhe mountains! It looks unreal but it's not! So very calming and peaceful! I don't blame you for not wanting to explore that mine...creepy!

As per usual, another stunning episode! This was an absolute visual feast... thank you! We remember visiting a place in Skagway where the salmon had died... so we know that awful smell! But it's fascinating learning about the life cycles of the Alaskan salmon. We are going to be so sad when this series ends, but happy to know there will be more amazing videos from your next adventure, whatever that may be :) xo

I have watched and loved every single video of your trip to Alaska, your adventures while there, and your return trip. You capture the most beautiful and interesting scenery. I can't thank you enough for sharing your adventures with us. I truly like the fact that you provide so much worthy information of each place you visit, it makes me almost feel like I am there too. My dream is to go back to Alaska and this time EXPERIENCE it while exploring it, but I know that will never happen, so I have to live it through your eyes, videos, and experiences. Thank you for doing that. God Bless You both and safe journeys!

Your comment about the dead salmon smell cracked me up. When I lived in Alaska I fished all the time. In the fall some smaller rivers would be so stinky and actually become discolored from all the dead salmon. The smell would permeate my waders soI'd have to wash them in my shower LOL. Great video and I can attest to the Seward Cassiar being an absolutely amazing drive.

I lived for 16 years in Stewart and loved all the beauty there was to explore. As a note the Bear Glacier that you passed early on in the video (8:49) used to stretch all the way to the highway. If you want to see it on the big screen check out the 2002 movie "Insomnia" staring Al Pacino and Robin Williams. That Glacier is the backdrop for the finale, and gives you a better idea of how closer to the road the Glacier was. This was also Christopher Nolan's first film. Pacino, Williams and Hillary Swank were all great and very curtious and kind. If you have a DVD copy of the movie there is an Easter egg of a massive snow slide that almost wiped out the set, click on the "pen" beside Hillary in the menu.

Another nicely photographed and narrated video. We took the Cassiar “Hwy” south too mostly staying at free semi-developed provincial fish/hunting camps along the way. We skipped Stewart/Hyder/Salmon glacier side trip because not only were we racing against the changing seasons, but my passport expired at the end of Sept and needed to make it back into the lower forty-eight before then. After seeing your footage do wish we’d overnighted at Salmon glacier overlook. All summer we had been chasing a drive-up glacier and this is clearly the one. Thanks for sharing it.
