Another great "will it run? Of course it will!" video! My "old tire" story: Back in 2006, my Dad gave me his 1979 Buick Electra Park Avenue, which he had inherited from his uncle. The car had 27,900 original miles on it, but had just spent most of its' time waiting for the occasional trip to town. It cranked up right away, and when I asked Dad if I could trust it for the 50+ mile drive home, he told me "Son, I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car across the country tomorrow!" Well, Dad was a braver man than I am! It made the drive home o.k., but I was a nervous wreck by the time I arrived! I spent the next few days cleaning, polishing, and replacing belts and hoses-- all of which were 27 years old! The tires looked brand new though... a set of Dunlop white walls. I drove the car to work for the next few days, which was about a 12 mile round trip. Then one day I pulled into the driveway after work, and seeing my wife across the street talking with our neighbor, I got out of the car and started walking across the street. I got about midway across the street when there was a tremendous explosion behind me! The left rear tire had evidently left a "goodbye, cruel world" note on the kitchen counter that morning! The next morning I put the spare on the car, and drove to the nearest tire store (very nervously, I might add). Upon inspection, it was discovered that the tires, although looking brand new were actually 17 years old! Since then, I made it my goal to let people know how to check the date code on any tire on their vehicles (legally mandated on all vehicle tires in the U.S.) Even if they look brand new, tire manufacturers recommend that tires should be replaced after about 6 years, regardless of mileage. Tires degrade due to exposure to sunlight, pollution, and chemicals. And they give little to no notice when they fail!

Hey Mortske: Another Monday, another roadsteration project and this time it's a '76 Scottsdale small block... On this particular build, its like a jigsaw puzzle with several missing pieces; (Window glass inserts, extremely crunchy truck bed, missing hoses and relays in the engine, et,. al... Even the #9 wire burned up!!!) The bench seat has disintegrated but its good enough for the Duffalumpagus to lay on... How neat is that??? Hope he's not disturbing the dead carcasses in the cab... Happy motoring from the home of PB Blaster... Cleveland, Ohio... GOOOOOO ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL!!!!

I see another video of clutch and drive train service as well as some exhaust work pending the frame is OK and not rotted from sitting around.
