A coworker was looking for a manual transmission vehicle to show his sons how to drive a stick and found this 1982 Chevrolet C30 flatbed that a mutual friend had big plans for 16 years ago but it had been sitting ever since. He talked him into selling it so now lets see if we can get it back on the road! Since this project was meant to teach his children how to drive a manual transmission it's not for sale at this time. Remember proceeds from the sales of merchandise this month will go towards parts (and fuel) to get this thing safe and roadworthy! As always, thanks for watching!

Duffers popping his nose up through that fifth wheel hatch was a hoot. I know it's stock KZbin music but the music you chose had me expecting to see Jaw Tooth at trackside with some train live action. With the Morning Wood Lumber Tshirt don't laugh there's a town here in Chicago's far south burbs Beecher Illinois that has or had a butcher shop that made almost as much money selling Tshirts with the business name on it. The butcher shop name? Beecher Meat.

Yes, recognized Jaw Tooth's intro/outro, missed the rooster crowing, though. Grew up in Iroquois Co, (Donovan). Have made many trips to and thru Beecher. We used to think the school mascot should have been "Meat" lol

@@berniemarkley actually modeled a fictional town on a module for the model railroad club I belonged to back in the 80s and named it Beecher simply so I could have the lineside factory named Beecher Tool & Die. Anyone complained that it was dirty I told them find a map of Illinois and look up Beecher. I neither confirmed nor denied if they actually had a factory by that name.

I had the same breed of dog ( Brittany Spaniel) as Duff. Mine was Named Ferris ( yes he was named after THAT Ferris … Bueller, Bueller lol) they are very smart and excellent hunting dogs but they are also Goofy as heck and full of life. My Ferris will have been gone a full decade the end of October this year and it still hurts a bit. Nonetheless watching Mortske and Duff reminds me of the good times I had with my Brittany Ferris.

I snort laughed when you said "you have insurance on this right?" Duff cracked me up on this thing too, especially looking up through that goose neck opening. To be honest, this truck really isn't bad considering the stuff you've made videos of running and driving. This thing's got a lot left in it. Using it to teach the younger generation is even better.

I ran the injection machine that molded the two steering shafts together with plastic for a few years. Both styles actually, the department that built the steering column in that truck is about a city block long and uses 3 story tall 500T presses to form the yokes for tilt steering. Those presses were 1 story below your feet and two stories above your head. They shook the concrete with every cycle. After that, Delphi decided to try mini cells that use CNC machines and newer tech to build and assemble steering columns. They were considered major machining departments so we were paid way too much. These cells were WAY smaller but the added technology meant more problems, hiring two full time engineers per cell, per shift and they could barely put out the same numbers as the original department. I ended up earning the coordinator position in my cell which led to me coming in on a Sunday with all the GM bigwigs to manually build and assemble the first 12 H2 steering columns in existence. I wish I had added my own mark to them somewhere. Sorry for the ramble, great stuff as always!

The drive segment with Dad and son reminded me of the times when Dad would take me down the country roads and taught me to drive a manual. His truck was a 75 F-100 with a 351w and a 3 on the tree. Manual steering, manual brakes, and bias-ply tires. He made me stop every time I would make a mistake with the clutch. Good times, I miss that truck, wish he never had sold it. Great Episode. - Jamie

Just for that comment I'm wearing bib overalls out in public forevermore. I wasn't born in Oklahoma but I got here as fast as my failures in several other states could get me here. Also it might keep me from getting pressure washed. First time I drove a manual was when I had stayed home sick from school for a week and one morning, both parents went off to work and I got out on my bike while it was snowing and rode across town to pick up a car from an impound auction. '86 Mercury Lynx (like an Escort) with a 4-speed for $60. Brakes shot, exhaust shot, had a flat tire. Interior full of trash. Put the spare on it and had a gravel towing company lot to teach myself the basics before throwing my bike in the back and driving it home. Parked it down the street for a few weeks and no one was the wiser until they said we were moving to Texas and I slipped and said, "but I don't want to ride in the U-Haul I want to drive my own car...*WHAT OWN CAR*...um...well..." and they made me sell it because it didn't have A/C. The next 3 cars I owned down there had A/C but only in one did it work. What a smart decision.

Awesome stuff, mate! Great to see a young fella learning the manual too. Both my girls did the same, but not at 10 years old. Suburbia seems to generate more nosey-parkers and cars with flashing red and blue lights that ruin your day, so it's best not to goad the buggers. She's got a bit of work to do on her, the old beast (no, not Mrs Chin - the Chev C30). Looks like its about time I bought more than decals, eh? Speaking of decals, had an out-loud laugh with the "No Penguins" decal (on the waterblaster) and a bloody good belly laugh with the "No Spray Oklahomans" decal. Needed a good laugh after such a shite last few days, so it was very much appreciated, thanks. Good to see my Skylark hasn't gone anywhere. Are we going to get to see what you've been doing with it soon? It looks such a beauty and I'm already seeing it parked in front of my garage ☺ Glad I stayed up for it. This video has made me smile in a rather difficult time and I am all the better for it. Thanks for being you, mate. Spot ya next week. All the best.

Good episode! I enjoyed it! I think I had 3 454s in square bodies over the years and I fought exhaust manifold leaks on every one. But when gas was cheap they were fun to have around.

LMAO, “If you can’t weld good, weld a lot” I know what you mean about reversing directions. My wife’s “keep coming” looks the same as “stop” it’s just stop looks more panicked. Great to see kids behind the wheel with dad. Great video as always!

I've got that same truck. Picked it up cpl years ago, fun fact the cab and chasis had a 10 ft bed option. Primarily set up for commercial applications. Same options I got, put a welding bed on mine. Just another toy, but its fun.

My first time I seen you pan the camera around outside that is a enormous garage. That's great he is teaching him to drive a stick I retired from the Miami Dade school board most of the kids did not want to learn how to drive let less a stick. I taught both my kids to drive a stick on my 70 chevelle ss 454 4 speed my daughter picked it up faster. It was fun after I recovered from the whiplash lol another great video going to get some mech looking forward to your next one
