I've had some requests for a Mopar revival on the channel so I picked up the cheapest vehicle I could find on an estate auction. Let's see if this 1977 Dodge Monaco 2 door with a 360 V8 engine will run after sitting since 1989!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!

Congrats on doing a Mopar! A couple things: Always check the fluid on a Torqueflite with it running in neutral. The pump doesn't pump in park. The AC compressor looks like a York but it's a Chrysler-built RV-2. I think that's a Holley 2245 carb. Lucky it didn't have Lean-Burn...they definitely had it by '77 but not in everything. Mopars are a little different...people tend to be scared of them for some reason.

Take ten feet of yellow ski rope lower the piston to bottom of cylinder put as much of the rope in the cylinder as you can get then rotate piston until you lock the engine you can remove the spring on the valve and rotate valve or hook a pair of vice gripes to it and move up and down I have replaced broken springs between races before

Just a tip....but always pull the sparkplugs in an old engine and put some type of oil in the cylinders for a day or two before turning over. Marvel mystery oil works well. Just dry cranking it like that is a sure way to break a ring for no reason. After that...spin it over without plugs in it to get some oil pressure up.

Mid-70's was when I learned to drive, but I have no fond memories of those smogged, carburated beasts. Had a '79 Aspen that ran like garbage at only 20K miles and the interior was falling apart too. @@richardbates2367 Cool, that is what mine was. Dark metallic green with velour seats. All green. I don't think mine had a 727 torcflight. I think it was a 904. At that time I had a 73 dodge pickup. D100. I ended up pulling of the 2bbl off the truck which had a 318 too. Then putting that carb on the fury and the fury carb on the truck. I rebuilt them both. The truck carb worked well on the fury and the truck wasn't as picky as the fury so worked out good for me. When I got that fury in 1991 it still had the fuel restrictor on it mounted off the alternator between the fuel pump and carb. Then it had the fuel wasting light on the left marker light. It had a white vinyl top. It had those noisy overload springs. Must have been a towing package. It had maybe just under 100k. Good car. I had it until 99 and someone stole it. Never saw it again. What you want us to do with the Monaco next? Well I'll speak for myself but I'd like an inspection of that head's valves if you can do it. I'm going through a similar thing except I don't think the valves are completely stuck open(302 in a 94 Bronco). They just leak a lot. I will take the valve covers off and mess with it in the near future so I'd love to see it done on video beforehand. Other than that this is a nice package of a car. Part 2 with a bit of valvetrain work a test drive with doughnuts would be awesome.

Monica is begging for a 360 Magnum swap. I just sold a 97 laramie that ran great but was eaten alive by, cancer. The frame was, SHOT! You can either wire it up & change the fuel pump/run it fuel injected. Or you can use your intake, timing cover, & front system(s)... the v belt, water pump, blah blah blah. The BONUS is that If you had a running driving donor, along with your complete engine? You could set it up either way... carb or, Fuel injection. I paid 250 dollars for my 97 donor/Laramie SLT with 182K miles & it still kept 60PSI oil pressure. I had a man who wouldn't stop offering me 2K for my 250 dollar investment... so, I put it on him & he loves it, drives that old rusty beater every single day. Mopar body's are STOOOPID expensive in middle America.

Monaco is a sovereign city-state and microstate on the French Riviera a few kilometres west of the Italian region of Liguria, in Western Europe, on the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by France to the north, east and west. The principality is home to 38,682 residents, of whom 9,486 are Monégasque nationals; it is widely recognised for being one of the most expensive and wealthiest places in the world. The main and only official language of the principality is French.

What do you mean those sears tires are shot, those are 90% tread on Craigslist. IMHO it seems like in the 70's chrysler/dodge gave up on designing and made a bet to see how fugly they could make a Car look and still sell it. K car bring back memories? I am not a dodge hater I drive a ram today I just thought after they ruled the 60's the 70's..not so much. You make a "will it start" so much.....fun. I really enjoy your content.

Too bad it's not a Monaco with the 440 police package. If you've ever seen those cop shows from the 80s these cars were no joke. They could really light up the tires. Watch old episodes of "Hunter" you'll see what I mean. They were even on "The A-Team".

I love that you use pop culture references! I do that myself & nobody ever knows what I am saying. If you are looking for other reference material for 106.38 I suggest a scene from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry where Larry asks the mechanic how he got the car to run so well & he replies" I hit it with a bigger hammer".
