I love the straight bolt design compared to the curved bolts that were used during ww2

My bayonet requires a rubber mallet to get on, nice you got a proper fitting one.

Took a couple attempts to find one that fit it, the first one I got was literally impossible and the second was similar to your situation

About 20 minutes with a file, and touch up with a flat black paint pen and mine fit like a glove. Not sure why everyone thinks they need to beat the hell out of their Mosin.

Im just impressed you can actually get your bayonet on properly. Mine is WAY too tight to fully lock in place.

I had the same problem with a different bayonet, I went through three before I found one that fit properly. The problem it they were fitted to the guns individually and not all of the guns were made to exact specs

I had the same problem. I drilled the hole to my barrel thickness and now it goes on and off smoothly

The bayonet was always attached to the rifle. You pound it on with a rock and there it stayed. They weren't ever taken off. 🤠

@GreatNorthwestWeaponry but hey it looks like you've got a bit of rust on your rear bolt face, if you get a bottle of metal rescue the concentrate not the get, drop all the bolt pieces in and let sit for 5-7 hours, takes rust (and any bluing, just leave longer) clean off like nothing, you don't want that center screw threading to get rusting. I live by that stuff as a gunsmith! Great rifle though
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry8 ай бұрын
@jetcox6760 thanks for the tip, definitely gonna give that a try 👍🏻 I try to keep these old gals rust free but some of them are very much in a “been there, done that” condition by the time I get my mitts on them
@jetcox67608 ай бұрын
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponryI took 100 years of rust off a 1921 take down .22 to bare metal pretty with that stuff, trust me, you could revisit those. But for heavy leave over night

Is it just me or is the mosin a lot more pleasant to shoot with 182 grain bullets and from the freehand standing position than 147 grain bullets and/or shooting prone?

With some mosins with how stiff the bolt is you have to treat it like it owes you money
@theinvestorsperspective61424 ай бұрын
I bought one last week like that. I disassembled I The bolt, sprayed it down with ballistol, scrubbed and rinsed throughly in hot water with dish soap. Dried and oiled each component before reassembly and now it glides through the receiver like butter.

@@theinvestorsperspective6142 from what I heard Finnish mosins are the smoothest of the mosin bolt action family.
