The trick to never get mosquito coming out of those tube is to always empty it every 7days and restart. This is how I cultivate them -Use smaller container (they don't need or like big open water) put 2-3inchs of water in there -Put some death leaf in there and cover it for 3 days -After 3 days put little bit of starch to feed the larvae (very little like the tip of your fingers nail) and remove the cover also start counting -Harvest on the 6-7th days (can start harvesting early for smaller larvae) and then flip the container to dry **Place your container somewhere isolated, dark, wet and under shadow aka like a swamp. Placement effect your harvest drastically.

I have a 110 gallon stock tank i made in to a pond. Up until the end of january, it had 100's of endlers in it. Then the outlet the heater was plugged in to fried and the pond got down in the 50's and i lost them all. Then this spring, i noticed millions of mosquito larvae in the stock tank. So i moved 6 mutt guppies out there and they gorged themselves on them. Their colors got brighter and the ones with black on them, the black got darker. They grew really fast too. They are still out there eating any that show up in the pond. I also have a sterilite container outside that i used as a guppy grow out last summer and it had mosquito larvae in it too until i scooped them out and fed them to the pond. The next batch that shows up, i'm feeding to my tank of lemon tetras in the house.

I live in south Louisiana and believe it or not, I have never fed mosquito larvae to my fish. I'm going to put a bucket of water out tonight.

Great video. I use a 30 gallon tub. The fish love them I sneak up on the larve with the net because they like to dive down to avoid getting caught. Then, I come back in about 5 minutes for another big scoop. I've been wondering about feeding them to my corydoras. Will they be able to catch them?

Got a 50 gallon tote, I just let rainwater collect in it, and I have thousands in no time. My betta and endlers love them. I don't know how to keep dirt and leaves from collecting in it though and I'd rather not have that lol I live I'm Central Texas so we have plenty mosquitoes lol

I did accidentally with a 40b outside. Had 1 danio frankeri and pair of Florida flagfish. If I put any food in, there would be more larvae to harvest in a few days(~50+). No outside food the 3 fish controlled the larvae population to smaller numbers(5-10). There's my case study 📚😯larvae was definitely proportional to the feedings

I had a trash can sitting outside for two to three years. Had green water, and I'm sure it had tons of mosquito larvae but was hesitant to use the green water or larvae. It's still out there, so it'll fill again.
