We were given a rabbit at our pet store who was obviously abused that way. He was an old rabbit they had as a baby and he didn't like human interaction. He would freeze and shake the moment you tried to touch his ears or neck. By week 3 of us having him he was the sweetest little man. Loved cuddles, he would still not really like being touched by the ears and neck, but he loved cheek scratches and booty rubs. Literally all it takes a bit of love, it's not hard to want to love your animals

That’s because you are a weak person. I raise rabbits for meet and before you get all preachy it is pound for pound the cheapest, highest protein meet you could possibly eat .the only way to pick up a rabbit with the least chance of being scratched to hell and back is the fur behind the neck/upper back then as you lift sliding your hand under its but the ears also work well in controlling the rabbit. As long as you aren’t dangling them from their ears or neck it isn’t harmful to the rabbit.

Show rabbits arent held by their ears, they're held by their scruffs and their face is hidden so they cant hurt themselves and to keep them from freaking out. They are held in a way that protects them by supporting them and making sure they cant hurt themselves. Grabbing a rabbit's scruff does not hurt them. It may look like the rabbits ears are being held in some cases but they are scruffing them. If you do not hold your rabbit properly you will be corrected if you're extremely young or disqualified. The proper hold for show is the proper hold for veterinary situations as well. Please know that show holds are meant to protect the animal and make them feel secure and safe.

I fold and hold my rabbit like a baby, I know that it’s not abusive as he is not comfortable with no back support when you hold him normally. Bunnies have sensitive stomachs so you have to hold loosely

No you’re just an ignorant owner. Rabbits seem relaxed but actually go into a shock where they can’t move and their heart rate quickens - in the wild, rabbits never lay on their backs or show their stomachs because it makes them extremely vulnerable to predators, what you’re doing in holding them that way is giving them literal unneeded stress and it’s extremely careless and cruel and if you keep doing that stuff your rabbit will immediately lose trust and think that you’re the predator out to get that as most eagles and foxes carry rabbits by their stomach. 😢 you think you’re doing the right thing but you’re not. Same thing with feeding your rabbits carrots, letting them near other species of animals and many more things.
