Far cry 2 and 4 have not officially been shutdown, but both have severe server issues where the online is unreachable. This also goes for Far Cry 4 on the PS4. Ubisoft is aware of the problem and has said to be 'working on it' but it has been a while now

You forgot the Gran Turismo games for the PS3! 5 and 6 especially. For GT6, You have to have an jailbroken PS3 first and then have some hacked launch files to replace the ones that is rooted inside your PS3 to start playing online. It's fairly easy but it will take you a good 2 - 3 hours to get it all set-up. GT6 active player base is small and at max I saw about 15 players playing online and racing together within a few month of me playing it recently at least once a week mainly on the weekends. For GT5 I think you can connect with only just LAN to another players so no really modding is needed... I think. I never tried GT5 online since I never own the disc at all nor not really interested playing it in general. Going by some articles I saw a few years back so take my words with a grain of salt. And I have Ridge Racer 7 and played it online! It's mainly a small community that still plays it and recently I herd that the most hardcore types of players have locked the rooms for private races due to the small rise in PS3 online activities going on when I read about one KZbin comment about a retrospective about RR7 itself. That game is still great and under-looked for a Ridge Racer game... Matter of fact most racing games from the 90's and 2000's have some hidden gems underneath that either rarely get's talked about or just an arcade only exclusive that never had a home/PC release that SOME (SEGA AND NAMCO) companies refusing to even bring it to modern times as the current racing game market is utterly dreadful with indie games carrying the entire market right now. Mini rant aside this was a good insight video for the PS3 that is basically a fucking dinosaur!

I don't see Battlefield 3 onwards shutting down for a very long time. Main reason being rented servers, plenty of people still pay to host their own servers which should keep the games alive for a longer time than the Bad Company games where this wasn't a thing. Not to mention the amount of backlash they'd get considering 3 & 4 are widely praised as the best of the series and still extremely active on other platforms to this day.

Actually, Bad Company is considered the best in the series and as a Battlefield fan, i can confirm this. For me Bad Company 2 was a peak for Battlefield franchise, at least for consoles, and Vietnam DLC was a blast. Newer games are much more chaotic and looks like shit on PS3. Low res textures, incredibly bad framerate, limited destruction. I hope they will release remastered versions of Bad Company 1 and 2.

Ubisoft shut down their own servers regarding pc & xbox. PS3 servers are still operational since seperate - but many people have confused this info believing. Currently still enjoying many titles online. Some titles are time zone specific.

Its sad Battlefield 1943 is shut down on PS3. As well as Bad company 1 and 2. Battlefield 3 and 4 are still working online. kinda sucks i really enjoyed hopping on 1943 from time to time. i played it last week without even noticing the servers closed December 8th. i had fun. Such a legendary system, long live PS3. Most active games IMO are call of duty / Destiny as well as GTA IV. Ratchet and clank all 4 one was working not long ago with two lobby on it. I also tried socom confrontation with the dns change thing, works good and has a active little player base.

I just got a used PS3 Super Slim. While it only has 12GB of flash storage, I heard Super Slims always use SATA III (not SATA II). Without searching online, what's the largest hard drive size this console recognizes? I've heard 1.5TB, but has anyone successfully used a bigger one? I can't find a clear answer anywhere. WARNING FOR DEADSPACE 3 ON PS3: If you never got the game when it came out, and only just now getting a copy to try out the online co op, it’s basically unplayable. EA did that dumb thing where you had to buy an online pass if you got the game used in order to access the online servers, but they don’t offer the option to download it anymore on playstation. I was trying to access on East Coast USA and had no luck getting the online pass through the PS store or in-game. As far as I know the only work around is to get the game digitally but I haven’t been able to personally try it out to see if it works that way :/
