Agree that it doesn't make sense for you to buy one, but I think you could use it for more than the truss install. There were a few things with the wall raising and roof metal install that I thought for sure it would simplify things... but you are the expert. Definitely a great force multiplier with the remote. CDL, Towing and needing something bigger than an F450 make it hard for a small company to own.

Couldn’t agree more! I’ve been running a Magni TH3.6 in my hay operation, this is my 2nd one… I previously had a TH7.0 which was really to big. I’ve owned a few telehandlers and the Magni has it all including easy to service and maintain. I followed Filippo Lavelli, the current president of Magni who was previously the president of Maschio, another top brand of equipment I use. Magni seems to be at the forefront of technology for telehandlers and cranes. A lot of brands copy their tech.

@zfilmmaker2 ай бұрын
@@Jumbaladore I stack 4x5 round bales 4 bales high in buildings and 5x6 3 high. I also use it to load bales on customer semis. Telehandlers drive and handle far better than a skid steer or tractor and have a much tighter turning radius over tractors. It’s a no brainer if your budget allows one.

@95dodgev103 ай бұрын
You're absolutely correct. However, the saving grace in this specific scenario is he has mentioned those straps and everything are rated for way more than he is lifting. Definitely not an excuse but atleast he has a lot of overkill in his system rather than being on the fringe of the load limit where the twisted strap could actually become compromised.

It's a question of hours. If he only needs it for ~150 hours / year if that, why own a machine you have to store, insure, transport and maintain? $400,000 buys a ton of rental hours.
@fredericrike59743 ай бұрын
@@maxstrong1999 Correct me if I am wrong, but for some reason I expect that any trouble that machine can have will go from diddly to OMG in short order. Renting is the best way to control costs and have a "ready to work" machine when you need it. For this job, I think his telehandler would have done just as well, using this assembly method- he was beginning to do assembled lifts three and four trusses long, all the two by lumber on, some even had sheathing on them for the new World HQ of RR- doing that is where the Magni would shine, as the telehandler isn't very stable with off axis (the centerline of the chassis) lifts- the Magni was designed to be that. It would also need covered parking big enough for an RV! I'm sure he will figure it out and show it to us sooner than later!
@maxstrong19993 ай бұрын
@@fredericrike5974 yea European machines tend to be expensive to repair. One would have to probably put 350 hours/year or more on it to justify owning it. Lowboy bills alone would be insanely expensive. And if it breaks down you're paying well over $200/hr for someone to fix it. Beyond services I expect any repair could cost 7-10 grand.

*The MAGNI RTH 6.30 Rotator: A Builder's Perspective on Efficiency and Safety* * *0:00** Introduction:* The video focuses on the Magni RTH 6.30 rotating telehandler, highlighting its benefits and features for construction projects. * *1:05** Machine Specs:* The RTH 6.30 is a 6-ton machine with a 30-meter reach, rented from Kirby Smith. The specific model number is ZZ 23072. * *1:38** Skyhook Attachment:* The video showcases the use of the Skyhook attachment, which prioritizes lifting capacity over reach. * *2:48** Outriggers and Remote Control:* The outriggers provide stability and allow for the full utilization of the machine's capabilities. The remote control feature enables the operator to work alongside the crew while controlling the machine. * *4:50** Labor Savings and Efficiency:* The Magni significantly reduces the need for manual labor and increases overall efficiency by allowing the operator to multitask. * *7:47** Enhanced Safety and Communication:* The remote control allows for direct visual confirmation and improves communication, enhancing safety on the job site. * *12:01** Control Panel Overview:* The in-cab control panel provides detailed information about the machine's status, load chart, and various settings. * *13:30** Load Chart and Safety Features:* The Magni's load chart adjusts automatically based on the boom's position and the attached tool, ensuring safe operation. * *17:06** RFID Attachment Recognition:* The machine automatically recognizes attachments via RFID tags, adjusting the load chart accordingly. * *18:48** Precision and Control:* The rotating feature and remote control offer precise control in multiple axes, making it easier to maneuver materials. * *21:52** Mobility and Setup:* The Magni can be moved and re-setup quickly, although its weight requires specialized transportation. [From Comments] The outrigger pads should be tethered to the outrigger feet for easier setup. * *24:00** Cost and Justification:* The estimated cost of the machine is in the mid-$300,000 range. Renting is a viable option for those who don't require constant use. [From Comments] The rental cost is approximately $4,000 per month. * *24:08** Versatility and Attachments:* The Magni supports a wide range of attachments for various tasks, including forks, man baskets, and specialized tree-cutting tools. [From Comments] Viewers inquire about specific attachments like an articulating man lift and forks. * *25:10** Conclusion:* The video concludes by emphasizing the Magni's value as a powerful and efficient tool for specific construction applications, prompting viewers to share their own experiences and insights. [From Comments] Viewers offer alternative perspectives, suggesting that a traditional crane with an operator might be more cost-effective for certain projects. I used gemini-1.5-pro-exp-0801 to summarize the transcript. Cost (if I didn't use the free tier): $0.09 Input tokens: 25006 Output tokens: 640

On fall protection. If the ONLY load on the lift is a person, then you have protection. If you are using the lift for protection and moving a load, then you are part of the load and same risks as the load. It does not count as "tied in". If you want fall protection, there would have to be a separate dedicated "Anchor Point" crane. At least that is the way OSHA inspectors in my area are interpreting it.

Cole, FYI the "curly strap"; first, the rated load for the strap is computed on a flat, untwisted product. Second, even if the twisting makes no strength difference, it makes the strap stretch and shrink as the twist is pulled tighter by the load. First, I am 100% not trying to second guess you. Obviously you know what your doing. My question though, is why wouldn't you have greg and another guy on the truss, you running the crane, your son on the rope and guiding it. Seems like one temp framer would have you guys moving more than fast enough to pay for one more guy. Just an efficiency question.
@mikem14363 ай бұрын
Agree. 4 people would do 3X the amount of work of 2.
@josephhfry3 ай бұрын
So you think that having one guy dedicating his time to driving the crane would be more efficient than one of the framers doing it. You realize the crane cannot be disconnected from the truss until the truss is secured, right? So the driver would be sitting there while the framers secure a truss and disconnect the cables, then waiting again for them to hook the next truss. There are many jobs that more bodies just create less efficiency. If you could assembly line things and keep everyone busy, great, but it rarely works that way.
@Benjamin-ic7ip3 ай бұрын
You also need a 4th guy and Cole. But you won’t alway have those number of employees full time; and using hire labour/part timer isn’t always that reliable.
@dynajen19893 ай бұрын
@@josephhfry Having framed lots of houses, that is why you have two guys nailing the trusses off. One on crane, as soon as the truss is in place (in the slots in this video) the crane moves to grab the next one while the two framers (Greg +1) nail off the truss and move to next spot. Cole would be the person rigging the truss and prepping the next one while the truss is being moved. This is a normal mode of doing it. As I said, I was asking for his explanation of the choice.
