I honestly always use braid and it seems to never be an issue. But I get a color that matches the foliage in the water to be sure it doesn't stand out too much. I'm also new with a bait caster so I haven't taken the time to learn how to put anything on other than braid lol.

Braid is fine as long as you think about the area that you fish. Muddy water or high vegetation is perfect for braid. Also using braid to a leader can be good unless your flipping heavy cover. Frogs and some topwater are perfect too. Flouro is my preferred cranking and jig and Texas rig line in clearer water or lighter cover

I much prefer mono or co-polymer on everything. Never had an issue.

I don’t use it on anything except flipping really heavy vegetation. I do like the sensitivity of braid to floro on a spinning reel at very specific times. Like the smallies here can be crazy hard to feel in real cold water especially if there’s a lot of debris like leaves to sift through. I know people like it for frogs and some pros recommend it for ripping lipless baits through grass, but normally I do as well with heavy mono and straight floro for those. Great info Randy. Another great video.

Here in florida braid is much more important than other places. My home waters doesn’t have any docks, riprap, rock piles , etc. just miles & miles of hydrilla, reeds and water hyacinths and some flooded trees. If you’re not fishing near or in the vegetation you’re not catching fish. While I have a couple of outfits with 15lb fluoro, all my outfits have braid, 50lb for punching and 40 & 30 for everything else

How many rods does a guy have to have for all these friggin scenarios? And it’s not cheap and easy to switch line all the time either.
@curvinh6289
@curvinh6289 Жыл бұрын
What I do is I have every single rod spooled up with braid .. on most stuff I use a 10 to 15 ft floro leader and if I throw a jerkbait or crankbait where the bass hit really hard I use a 30+ ft leader for alittle extra stretch. Braid lasts a long time in my spool and I fish alot!!! Nobody has the money to follow all these pro's on their bogus . Well it's not bogus we just can't all have a perfect setup for every lure and every situation.. I do what works for me and no pro is ganna tell me different. Lol

@@golforfishing Slips on the spool. Digs into the spool. Frays easily. Need special knots. Need a leader. Hard to cut. List is endless. I believe the stuff was never meant to be used on fishing reels. It was sold as a solution to a problem that never existed. Just marketing hype. Monofilament is superior in every way. To this day, most of the saltwater big game records were all landed on Ande Monofilament. At least the original records. Newer records were probably using newer monofilament.

@@mikecollett8513 Probably so. Ande is hard to beat. In the largest annual billfish tournament in the world, held in Puerto Rico, braided line is prohibited. 30lb monofilament is the limit.

I think your logic may not be complete… In your jerkbait video you say that using a spinning rod helps cast farther which increases the number of fish you catch versus a bait casting reel…. 10lb braid casted at least 20’ farther than 10lb flouro in my personal experiments, which is similar to the increase from bait caster to spinnng reel. 6lb braid casted almost another 20’ farther than the 10lb braid... Yes, you need to learn a braid to flouro knot, but that seems like a small price to pay for the increased casting distance…
@randyblaukatintuitive

I know how to tie all of the braid to Fluorocarbon knots ..I’ve experimented extensively. You never ever want to use braided line with a leader with a jerkbait. It’s literally the worst set up you could possibly use for that Lure category.

I don't get how anyone uses 6 or 8 lb fluro on spinning gear. It constantly knots up, twists, or just pops off the reel in bunches. I prefer 10 lb braid because it's far more usable.
@zachg5356
@zachg5356 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't spooled right. I use 12 lb test on a spinning rod. You need at least 3000 min size and use a 1000 yard spool. And leave a little space.
