This year, I’m interested in An Academy for Liars. I haven’t tried this author before but am intrigued by her premises. Early next year… One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This (nonfiction); the new Wayward Children; The Unworthy; and Somadina (the new Akwaeke Emezi-I always love their work)

Recently finished Blood Over Bright Haven based off your recommendation and really loved it! Also really looking forward to reading Here One Moment and We Solve Murders (I found the Thursday Murder Club series just kept getting better and better as it went on). As for a really good Mystery/Horror book, i really loved The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix.

This year I've really focused on finishing series or reading already finished series. I finished 7-8 series this year. Generally, I prefer reading all books in a series back to back. But I want to focus a bit more on stand-alones especially from new-to-me authors for the rest of the year. Fury of the Gods is also on my TBR, I read both books in this series so far and loved them. I'm also curious to read more of his series, once I finished the Bloodsworn Saga. Two of my highly anticipated books are actually released today: Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White and Celestial Monsters by Aiden Thomas. I'm also looking forward to Heavenly Tyrant.

I do the same exact thing with series. This year i started three new ones (though theyre all like 10+ years old) and had to decide to stop starting any new series until I finished these. Im almost completely through the Ember in the Ashes series! And I'm so glad I kept reading instead of taking a break and reading something else.

I'm most looking forward to Playground by Richard Powers. Sci fi/dystopian climate change type book. I read The Overstory (won the Pulitzer) by him and it was one of my best books the year I read it. Also, looking forward to the sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea. Really liked it even though I generally don't like cozy fantasy.

I've never read a Sanderson book before, but I plan on finally reading the Mistborn trilogy before the end of the year. I'm honestly a little scared of getting into the Cosmere, some of the books just look so intimidating.😅 Still, I hope I'm going to like it!

I’d recommend starting with Warbreaker instead. It’s a standalone and less commitment!
@nikif.1662 ай бұрын
@@BookswithEmilyFox That might be a good idea! If I can get hold of Warbreaker, I'll start with that one. If not, I'll commit to Mistborn, since it's already on my shelf, judging me silently for putting it off so many times.
@gracesull787562 ай бұрын
i also rec warbreaker as a starting point, which i did taking emily’s advice actually so credit to her lol. not only a great way to see if you like his style and all, but also just an amazing book in its own right, tbh underrated imo. started stormlight after, just couldnt help it, but finally read the mistborn trilogy a few months ago and loved it sm! point is, i now can say i def stand by my choice, tho you cant rlyyy go wrong, i think for me i valued having a return on investment early on w a full story arc, and i think that helped my mindset moving into his series
