Switzerland is the land of steam trains. And it's not just the steam trains that inspire, but also the landscapes through which they run.
We start with the Furka Steam Railway, move on to the Brünig Steam Railway and then to the famous Brienz Rothorn Steam Railway. Full steam ahead!

I love your child like excitement on this beautiful steam engine trip! So unique and Absolutily perfect! I am partial to the steam locomotive! The sounds the steam drifting over the cars and of course the whistle! So romantic! Thank you this glorious trip!💖

What a great, professionally made video that gave me great pleasure. Steam locomotive train rides are a very special experience - driving slowly through the beautiful landscape is definately an experience of a lifetime. The ending with the kings of the Alps fit in well. ❤❤❤

My dear Sylvia 😊 Spoiling us again 🥰 Everything about this railway is perfect : the beatiful sorrounding landscape, the beatiful train itself. These trains are so beatiful 😁. They look like toys. Makes me wish to go back to childhood and play all day inside of them ...driving them! 😉😂. You know me by know 🤣 Another wonderful thing about these trains is that they are absolutely nature friendly. Zero polution😊 . And that is a wonderful way to travel with no need to use a car. That makes them even more ecologic. And economic .Because you don't have to pay for fuel to your car. And...you don't feel so tired because you don't have to be alert on traffic. Just have to enjoy the ride 😊 About the clothes... that is perfect for me👌😉. I love black and most of my clothes are that color 😅 Thank you for your fantastic work 💜😘 .

Hey Alice...I agree with you on many points, but the "environmentally friendly" thing is not really the case with steam locomotives (or was that meant ironically?) :)) But it's nice that a few of these old ladies are still allowed to run.

@@SylviaMichelPhotography, no. I was not being ironic. I think despite everything, the use of electricity is more damaging for the environment

Hi Sylvia, I so enjoyed today’s video and have the same affection for all steam engines as you do . I grew up riding them and spent a lot of my time train spotting , and standing on the bridge in the smoke as they passed through our small village station . I love the smell of them ! I have never been on a turntable though , that looked fun . Once again thank you . ❤

From minute 14:41 note the closure of Hipp's rotating disk (Hipp'sche Wendescheibe) with a 270° rotational movement
@Luigi-uj5ml
@Luigi-uj5ml 5 ай бұрын
The Hipp reversible disc signal is mounted on a hollow cast column. This carries a sheet metal disc about 1m in diameter. Until 1877 the disc was painted red on both sides with a white border, but later on one face red with a white diagonal bar and on the reverse white and black, partly chequered, partly with a diagonal bar, or simply painted grey. The change in paint required a mechanical modification: to switch from one signal layer to the other, a quarter turn was initially required. After the conversion, the disc rotated once by 90°, the next time by 270°. Thereafter, the signal has had a unique front and back. Two small white disks are mounted below the large disk and perpendicular to it. They are white on both sides with a black diagonal line or with black quarter segments. The disc can be rotated and shows the approaching train one of two aspects: the red board, which signals “stop”, or the two white discs, which signal "proceed". The small wing discs are primarily used to balance wind forces, thus reducing the actuating force required. The small wings also have the advantage of showing a positive travel signal. Up to 1877, a hole in the middle of the large disc served to mitigate wind forces further. Because the reversible discs were often reused, such perforated discs often found a "second life" as distant signals. The signals were generally arranged to the right of the track in the direction of travel. Apparatus installed after 1930 (all in second or third use) are on the left. The drive works via a weight in the signal mast, which has to be rewound after approx. 200 disc revolutions. The signal is triggered electromagnetically with electricity from a battery (electrical low-voltage pulse) and works more reliably in storms and in winter than reversible windows that are operated with wire pulls. The current pulse always triggers the rotation of the disc in a clockwise direction. It is also noteworthy that the Hipp reversible windows were equipped with an electrical feedback signal. The design as a distant signal was basically the same, the disk was green until 1935, then orange instead of red and mostly only had a lantern on it, which showed a double light via a mirror system. The last distant signal of this kind was in Bischofszell Stadt until February 13, 1975.

@@SylviaMichelPhotography No, but I have traveled with DFB trains (anagram of BFD, Brig - Furka - Disentis) since the very first years since the wise decision was made to gradually reopen it to traffic. Until 1877 the disc was painted red on both sides with a white border, but later on one face red with a white diagonal bar and on the reverse white and black, partly chequered, partly with a diagonal bar, or simply painted grey.
