Absolutely gorgeous build! You really can't go wrong with that Fractal North. I built with it back in March of this year using the ProArt Creator Wifi Z790 with the I5-13600k and the Zotac RTX 4070ti. I used a top mounted Cooler Master ML240 Illusion cooler. All the RGB is set to match the gold on the motherboard like you did and the gold on the Zotac matched well, too. I vertically mounted the GPU give it more of a "creator" look and less of a "gaming" look. It's all worked out well and the ML240 keeps it plenty cool.

Fractal knocked it out of the park with the North and the fact that the pro art boards make a great combination visually even to someone like me that doesn't really care about that kind of thing pretty much says it all. My only complaint is it's sometimes harder to find the mesh panel version of the North (at least in black).

Hey mate, the reason why your AIO is making more noise is because you have the pump/block too high specially having the tubes going down, air will get trapped either in the pump or the top region of the rad ( btw you said 35gb sticks xD )

Your pump is making noise because it is above the in/out of the radiator. You should have the radiator in/out above the pump always. There the little air bubbles get stuck in the top of the radiator and smooth operation at the pump ;) Awesome build and killer content as always. I am surprised you don't have 500k subs or more. Keep it up!!
@trsiel8953
@trsiel8953 16 сағат бұрын
This is not true. The bubbles will get stuck on the highest point of the aio, including the radiator itself. In this configuration, the aio block is below the top of the radiator, so it's not a problem. This is the second best way to install an aio after the top mounted way. With a 360mm, you can't get the bubbles problem unless you're mounting the radiator on the bottom of the case. It's différent on a 240mm because it's possible to have the top of the radiator below the aio block. Just FYI.

I'm more likely to build a system into one of those old eMachine "NEVER OBSOLETE" cases. They can still be found in the closets of many homes today. Nobody would want to steal it either. Comedic value is what I plan on but that is one VERY clean looking system. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to me, this one screams class. First word that comes to mind is whiskey (I don't drink anymore).

I don't know how you made a mistake by mounting the AIO tubes at bottom. I was really hoping that you will change the layout 19:31 I know you're Legend in this, but it could result in increasing Pump Pressure and the flow will be decreased in due time and increase in Fan speed. but still sick built
@JJFX-
@JJFX- Жыл бұрын
Nonsense. The top of the radiator is still higher than the pump block. This is the ideal orientation when a top mount isn't possible. Flipping it can work fine but increases the likelihood of air getting pulled thru the barbs, especially as fluid permeates. The effect of the lines being below the pump should be negligible. In either orientation, one line is either pulled or pushed against gravity which a typical AIO should have no problem with. Now there is always the chance of air getting caught in the block regardless. You could manually move the block around to get it out before mounting. Rotating the pump block so air can escape into the outlet could also be beneficial but you'd still want the tubes at the bottom of the rad. TLDR: Avoiding air accumulating in the pump should always be the priority.
@mastroitek
@mastroitek Жыл бұрын
Tubes are supposed to go at the bottom, because the opposite part has the air pocket, which should always be above the pump... I also don't understand why that would put more strain on the pump, the amount of water that needs to be moved is the same and the fluid must be moved (in height) by the same distance in either of the two vertical orientations (this is a situation where the fluid is in a state of constant speed). So, the only difference would be when the pump needs to accelerate the flow of the fluid, and I'm not sure if that would even make a difference

Looks very nice but please don't ever place the radiator at the bottom. The tube end of the radiator should always be higher than the pump, ideally at the top of the case. If this doesn't work because like in your case it wouldn't fit, place it at the front with the tubes facing up.

This orientation is perfectly fine. Other than the radiator being installed at the bottom of the case, the orientation you're suggesting, while still fine, is the least preferred method.
@CsQ_RandomRepository
@CsQ_RandomRepository Жыл бұрын
This is correct, but only because the product in question has the pump inside the CPU block. If the pump is located somewhere else, like in the middle of the tube such as be quiet's Pure Loop, it should be fine.
@tourist6290
@tourist6290 Жыл бұрын
@@ToxicHAL There's always a little bit of air in your water cooling. Air always gets to the highest point, and when the pump is the highest point, it will be trapped there and 1. make noise (bubbling/dripping/vibration noises) and 2. can be bad for the health of your pump. The amount of air is very low, usually way below 1% but it will increase over time. No material is really sealed so every year your water cooling will lose about 1% of cooling liquid, it will bleed through the tubes on microscopic scale and evaporate at the outside, you will probably never see it but over the years it will sum up in amount lost. Now if you are using a water cooling AIO over years and have the pump being the highest point, it could be that so much air is trapped inside the pump that it gets damages because it kinda runs dry, which must never happen (it will also be kinda loud in comparison). If you make sure the tubes are going upwards and the radiator is the highest point (top mount), the air gets trapped there and makes no problems. Front mount is not ideal but again, when the tubes at least are the highest point it's ok. And then again you might be lucky and for some reason it really doesn't matter in your particular case, which is kinda rare though. I would always try top mount or at least front mount with tubes at top though.

Regarding DDR5 and putting two matching kits together, generally using the XMP and lowering the speeds slightly will work perfectly fine. Try the following: Example DDR5 6800 2x48GB In the BIOS Enable the XMP but change the speed to DDR6600 (test) and lower if necessary to only the highlighted speeds. I'm using two kits of the same g-skill memory that's rated for DDR5 6800 and it's running perfectly fine at DDR5 6600 speeds. CPU-Z J8P8UR
@JJFX-
@JJFX- Жыл бұрын
There's nothing wrong with this but the more you lower it the more you should consider knocking at least the primary timings down or you're just giving up performance. Higher speed will obviously have higher timing profiles so leaving them alone just increases latency more and more. You could give it more headroom by slightly raising the DRAM voltage and of course you'll want to run memory tests like y-cruncher to be sure it's stable but you should be doing that regardless with 4 dimms. Intel's memory controller can be frustrating (14th gen does seem better) so at least run a final test overnight to be sure it's fairly stable. Do NOT just wait for something to crash and assume it's fine if it doesn't. Especially on a work system.
@DJaquithFL
@DJaquithFL Жыл бұрын
@@JJFX- .. AMDs memory controller is extremely worse in comparison to Intel, you'd never be able to run DDR5 6600 with 4X let alone if/barely 2X sticks on the current AMD offerings. Intel DDR5 6600 with 4X sticks is very common, there are "quad" kits, and randomly increasing voltages can damage the CPU and cause instability. As it is, these DDR5 kits are pushing both the OCs and voltages near its limits (1.55V-1.6V).
@JJFX-
@JJFX- Жыл бұрын
@@DJaquithFL That is definitely right but I wasn't comparing it, I simply meant frustrating in the sense that instability can take awhile to nail down. The point being that people need to test it more than just playing a game or trying to render a video. Glad you have it dialed in, sounds like a solid setup.
@DJaquithFL
@DJaquithFL Жыл бұрын
@@JJFX- .. The success or failure is highly dependent on the RAM including its Die (I'm avoiding that debate), BIOS version and CPU (specifically Intel generation 12, 13, 14). I briefly mentioned (testing) which is easily another debate, but for overall "rock solid" stability a full load overnight is generally sufficient. My point is running only a memory testing app alone doesn't guarantee "rock solid" stability. I've never known RAM OC'ing to fail with 3 steps above its rated speed when x2 sticks per channel are filled using kits from the MOBOs QVL list. Example i9-13900K rated DDR5 5600 MT/s so 3 steps is DDR5 6400 memory from the QVL list. Frankly, OC'ing isn't what it used to be because the CPUs and GPUs are already essentially factory overclocked within their stable bin level. Silicon lottery is already pretty much predetermined at the factories. While I can overclock my i9-13900K to nearly 6GHz It's literally drawing twice as much power with a drop of effective additional performance, not to mention turning my PC into a space heater. So if your goal is to simply share synthetic useless benchmarks with your buddies, then go for it. RAM on the other hand, does yield to a point under some uses a benefit with very little additional stresses on the overall system if done properly. In my case, the reason I'm using 4 sticks of RAM versus 2 sticks is purely for aesthetics. I have a high spec system and leaving out two sticks so I can have DDR5 8000 - 8200 is like a supermodel missing her front 2 tooth teeth.

@@DJaquithFL 100% agree that truly stabilizing a memory OC takes more than a single test, my advice was simply to encourage some degree of testing for the average person. I'd say +3 speed bins or so is probably a fair assumption in regards to frequency alone. However it's important to note that Intel's officially supported speeds actually aren't much different than AMD. They only officially support DDR5-5600 for 2x1R. This drops to 5200 for 2x2R and with 2 dimms/4 ranks per channel as you're running, they only support DDR5-3200. They don't make it clear on the spec page so I understand why people assume this but it's all in the SKU support matrix inside the 13th/14th gen datasheet. Most meaningful overclocking is arguably dead but IMO memory overclocking is the last frontier. Many XMP/EXPO profiles are a bit of a joke and you can still push cheap kits near expensive ones. Binning is relevant with Hynix dimms but you'll typically only see differences pushing to the limit and lowering timings like tRP and tRFC. On Ryzen memory is especially beneficial since it's already so limited by latency. The kit I just tested with a 7950X was stable up DDR5-7800 in 1:2 mode but still performs better in most situations at just 6400 30-37-30, 1.43V in 1:1 and geardown disabled. At high voltage it can do 6600 C30 but most can't and that's about where Zen 4 tops out. There is arguably potential with a solid DDR5-8000 OC in 1:2 mode . The potential is obviously far higher on Intel but in my experience with 13th, stabilizing aggressive OC's can be oddly sporadic. On Zen 4, once it's dialed in you really don't see random errors after significant testing (with good thermals). It's fairly obvious when you hit the limit. On Intel it could test stable in everything for days then after some restarts it could throw random errors in just 1-2 hours. Just a strange observation others have noted too but in many other ways it's far less frustrating. To me, both platforms are fun to play with and it'll be a sad day when memory OC'ing goes the way of everything else.

While AIO coolers obviously look amazing it's worth noting you can air cool a 14600K without issue since it's well under 200W. Even a mid spec air cooler like a Dark Rock 4 will effortlessly cool a sub 200W CPU and be more quiet at it too. Anyway, just something to note, beautiful build though!

Wow I'm building a new machine right now to run Linux Mint, OBS and DaVinci Resolve Studio. This video is very helpful and I'm planning on the Z790 but now have to re-think it. Before yesterday I didn't think you could buy anything that's not geared for gamer's especially NVIDIA. Nothing against gamer's but not everyone on the planet is a gamer so I was amazed to see a MB for Creators! So I love the memory sticks you show but on Amazon and they have the size options but not sure how to sort the Styles? Does that have something to do with when you say don't go for the fastest depending on your setup?

Does anybody make a temperature probe that you can put in line or on a water block to see the true water temperature? And also if you’re doing a custom waterloop why can’t you just put two radiators at the bottom of the case where they can’t be seen and configure them in a push pull.

@@theTechNoticeso I believe it’s because you didn’t have time to get a new cable. But my question is, that dual cable that used to - can’t the 2 8pins be separated? Another question if you don’t mind, does that dual cable have a 16pin cable comb on it? If so, where did you get that?

I just upgraded from 9th gen (9900KS) with DDR4 to 14th gen (14900K worth it for my situation) with DDR5. Bought x2 32GB DIMM kits for 64GB System ram and discovered you can't run XMP with 4 sticks with DDR5. Ram drops down to 4000MT/s with that much RAM installed. My old GSkill Trident Z Royal was overclocked to 3600 MT/s. So, I'm technically faster than my old DDR4. I don't know how much of a difference 4000 MT/s would be to say 7800 MT/s using DDR5. I may send these kits back and try to find x2 32GB sticks but the new build seems to be snappy and fast enough for my music production and 4K gaming needs.

@@groenevinger3893 I've been looking for 2 stick DRAM kit that have 64GBs of storage and they are pretty rare; and the ones that do exist have MT speeds near 4800 anyways. The 6000+ MT/s high-speed RAM kits are normally relegated to 32GB. I was able to OC my current GSKILL to 5800MT/s and the system survived repeated memory stress tests in AIDA64. 4800MT/s is the default speed of my GSKILL DRAM kits, so I at least got above that.
